Hey guys, Jana here,
AMC is kicking their casting into full speed with, yet, another announcement for their upcoming series, ‘Preacher‘, based off a 1990’s comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and backed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. So you know it’s going to be great, right?
Last week, we let you in on the first two characters that have been cast, you can read that report, here. The latest actor cast in the story is Joseph Gilgun (‘This is England‘) as Irish vampire Cassidy who is basically the main protagonist, Jesse Custer’s, sidekick. Custer is a preacher who was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named Genesis in an incident which killed his entire congregation and demolished his church. Genesis is the unholy product of an angel and demon mating. Genesis may be an infant, but he is composed of pure goodness and pure evil when combined with Custer, makes him almost as powerful as God. Now Custer, his ex girlfriend, Tulip and the hard-drinking Cassidy are traveling across America looking for God.
Gilgun may have not made a giant splash in the U.S. yet, but it was only a matter of time. He’s one of Britain’s acting darlings and can successfully steal the show. Gilgun seems a perfect match for Cassidy who is basically a humanized drug trip, he’s loves to create mayhem around him, he’s up for anything, very opinionated and people have a habit of turning up dead around him. If you’re not convinced Gilgun is up to the challenge, checkout the clip below of ‘Lockout‘ where he basically stole the entire show for proof of my argument. Dude’s going to rock Cassidy!
