Hey guys, Jana here,
Walt Disney Pictures has selected the next story up for the live-action remake with ‘Mulan‘. The company has been hell bent on taking successful animated stories, blowing up the fantasy worlds they live in, including the already larger-than-life villains, then dropping the wide-eyed hero into the setting and let the story unfold. This is a pretty cool idea, however Disney has yet to pull a live-action crossover out of their hat that was better than it’s animated mirror.
‘Mulan‘ was released in 1998 and nominated for an Oscar in 1999 in the Best Music/Score category. Mulan is determined to save her father from a certain death in the army and secretly goes in his place, disguising herself as a man, and becomes one of China’s greatest heroines in the process. Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek are set to write the screenplay for this action-packed story. I was incredibly disappointed with ‘Maleficent‘, ‘Cinderella‘ was so full of saccharine viewers for sure got, as Wilford Brimley would say, Diabeetus from watching it. However, I enjoyed Tim Burton’s trip through the looking glass with ‘Alice in Wonderland‘ and I’m so excited for ‘Beauty and the Beast‘. If Beauty goes well, I might hold a little more hope for ‘Mulan‘ being the kick-assiest flick it should be. All I ask is that you please give us a killer Mushu!!!
