Hey guys, Jana here,
It’s the week for casting news! There are constant announcements coming from everyone this week and why would Kurt Sutter’s name be left out? As if! (Yes, I totally went all ‘Clueless‘ there for a moment, but I’m back now.) Sutter’s latest series for FX, the same network that brought Sutter’s previous smash-series ‘Sons of Anarchy‘ to life, is coming back with another series, ‘The Bastard Executioner‘.
Bastard Executioner tells the story of a warrior knight in King Edward The Thirds charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again, he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all. Some of the names cast are Sons alumni and all are a bit familiar.
Katey Sagal (‘Sons of Anarchy‘) is cast as Annora of the Alders, a woman who offers predictions, cures and potions.
Stephen Moyer (‘True Blood‘) is cast in the role of Milus Corbett, a street-smart and noble savvy who was one of Ventris’ marshals in the army, now a chamberlain, chancellor and justiciar.
Timothy V. Murphy (‘Sons of Anarchy‘) will be Father Ruskin, a gentle but big man with a fury hidden away, a soldier that left the military for the seminary, a priest, rector and teacher of the court.
Lee Jones (‘Magical Tales‘) will be Wilkin Brattle, the imposing and emotionally deep while spiritually tortured former knight in charge of King Edward I.
Flora Spencer-Longhurt is cast for Baroness Lowry “Love” Aberffraw Ventris. A kind and beautiful, yet cunning characters that comes from a wealthy Welsh family and married Ventris at 17 to protect her family’s land.
Sam Spruell (‘Snow White and the Huntsman‘) will play Toran Prichard, an archer under madog Llywelyn in the last major Welsh rebellion, he is no longer a warrior but is Wilkin’s best friend.
Kurt Sutter (‘Sons of Anarchy‘) creator and writer for this project and SOA will play The Dark mute, the mate and guardian of Annora, he will rarely speak and no one’s ever seen his face. This will be Sutter’s third time acting in a series he also wrote.
Sutter will serve as writer and exec producer while Paris Barclay, director for Sons will come back to direct, this has to be just as good as everything else Sutter puts his hands to! So excited!!!
