Hey Everyone. Kimbrell here from Napkin Art Studios.
So, hands down my favorite television show of ALL TIME is AMC’s “Mad Men”, featuring my man crush John Hamm as the dapper ‘Don Draper’. Was I ever excited to know that my two favorite print and design studios, Print Mafia and Hero Design, got together and collaborated on two very awesome hand made prints for us “Mad Men” fans to geek-out over.
There is a rule in my family that no one is supposed to buy themselves anything (minus groceries and such) after Halloween until after Christmas, giving my family a chance to surprise everyone with goodies from their holiday wish list. Well, I must confess that I have been breaking that rule left and right this year. I Most certainly couldn’t pass up this owning this awesome artwork.
This “Time Machine” print is a 17″ x 23″ five color silkscreen poster, printed with non-toxic water based ink, and printed on 100lb. Cougar Heavy Stock, and is a signed and numbered edition of 80. The small copy reads: “In Greek, nostalgia literally means the pain from an old wound. It’s a twinge in your heart, far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn’t a spaceship; it’s a time machine. It goes backwards and forwards, it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It’s not called the Wheel. It’s called the Carousel. It lets us travel the way a child travels, around and around and back home again to a place where we know we are loved – Don Draper”. The first edition of the “Time Machine” print sold out fast, and featured a tan background. The gray background edition will be the only variant edition for this print.
And if the “Time Machine” print isn’t enough to get your motor running, check out print number 2 in the Print Mafia/Hero “Mad Men” collaboration series, “You’re A Jackie Or A Marilyn”. This print is a 16″ x 20″ two color silkscreen poster, printed with non-toxic water based ink and printed on Springhill Index in Ivory 140# index stock. This is a signed and numbered edition of 150, which can be hung Marilyn style or Jackie style, to reflect your own personal taste.
I really look forward to see what this duo releases next in this awesome collaboration series.
If you haven’t jumped on the “Mad Men” bandwagon yet, I suggest to hop to it. Consistently, it’s one of the best written and designed shows in recent memory, inspiring all artists alike. I may just have to take a break from all of this holiday madness and re-watch seasons 1-3 all over again.
To purchase these bad ass prints (to which you better hurry ‘cuz they are going fast) either visit Print Mafia or Hero online. They’ll be happy you did! And don’t forget to buy the first three seasons on DVD or Bluray if you don’t own them already…
