Not that most of Syfy’s stuff isn’t inherently hilarious, but normally they’re not actually going for giggles. Lately, though, the channel famous for terrible made-for-TV movies is grabbing up parodies – namely Ghost Ghirls, executive produced by the indomitable Jack Black.

The new series is one gigantic parody of shows like Medium. The pilot,  not yet greenlighted but well on its way, will be directed by Jeremy Konner (Funny or Die Presents…). Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci (of the improv show Beans!) will play the title characters: Heidi, who has proclaimed herself a psychic, and Angelica, the token computer wizard. They spend each episode on a new quest to make a name for themselves as ghost hunters.

It sounds like Ghostbusters with women to me, but as that movie and subsequent cartoon (The Real Ghostbusters) were amazing pieces of media, I’m okay with this. With Jack Black in the executive producer’s chair, it could be a little dicey, but with bodily function jokes kept to a minimum it might be all right.
