Rumor has it that Lionsgate is wanting to take their ‘Divergent‘ film series and move to the small screen for a spinoff series. Now here’s the twist, the final film in the series, ‘Ascendant‘ will be re-worked to be a TV movie instead of premiering in theaters in 2017. The plan is to take the world they’ve created with the films and make it a permanent home for a whole new cast of characters.

It seems this became an option when the studio saw the unflattering box office numbers ‘Allegiant‘ produced. The studio knows they need to wrap up the storylines the current characters are involved in, but we’re not sure if the stars from the series, Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Ansel Elgort would reprise their roles for the TV movie.

I just want to reiterate that this is a rumor at this point and no deals have been made to make this situation happen, yet. Let’s hear from the fans, would a TV movie be something you’d tune in for or do you think it should be a big screen ending with no series to follow?
