Hey guys, Jana here,
The world of comic books is always bringing new and unique stories to TV and what better fodder for a new series than the creative genius of Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick. With the deal, the married team will adapt some of their comic books as well as original TV series concepts and they will also use their Milkfed Criminal Masterminds production company as a TV launchpad for other comic creators.
“We’re always excited to usher in fresh voices to the television space, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Matt and Kelly Sue, a fantastic pair whose award-winning comics are as deeply realized as they are entertaining,” said Universal TV EVP Bela Bajaria.
One of the first projects the company is developing with the deal is an adaptation of the Eisner Award-and Harvey Award-winning ‘Sex Criminals‘, created by Fraction with partner Chip Zdarsky. Suzie, a librarian, and Jon, an actor, meet at a party and, after sleeping together, discover they share the ability to freeze time when they orgasm. As their relationship develops and their sexual histories are explored, they decide to rob the bank where Jon works in order to save Suzie’s endangered library.
