Hey guys, Jana here,

Ryan_Reynolds

It’s happening! It’s happening! It’s finally frakking happening!!! That collective fist punch performed round the world is for the newest Marvel film announcement. Anyone remember the spectacular ending of ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine‘ in 2009 when Wade Wilson debuted some superior fighting skills and weapon bad-assery as Deadpool? I do, I’ve dreamt of it, now we get some more!

Fox announced that February 12, 2016 was slated for ‘Deadpool‘ months ago, since then we’ve been waiting for the announcement that would either continue Ryan Reynolds’ spectacular portrayal or tell us the name of the actor that won’t be able to live up to the hype Reynolds created when he weaved his way into Marvel film history. It’s been in development much longer than any of us wanted, but it looks like it’s going to be worth it.

Reynolds gave us the news in a truly memorable way via his Twitter account today. He posted this picture with the caption “Uh…It’s Chimichanga time.”

This is an actor that is riding the comic book movie wave however it flows by appearing in DC and Marvel films. It’s clear that one character plays stronger than the other, too. Where ‘Green Lantern‘ largely crashed and burned, his appearance as Deadpool ignited a fan-base that is demanding more screen time. Sporting a ridiculously awesome healing ability derived from Wolverine, the merc with the mouth is ready to take his place in the pantheon of the Marvel film universe. This is director Tim Miller’s first effort and I’m wary of his first feature being a hit, but maybe lightning will strike where we want it. The writing team responsible for ‘Zombieland’, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick penned the script.
