Hi Bryan Here….

Sorry this is a week late.  So much has been going on, but we should be back right on time from here on out.  So let’s jump right into this thing.  It’s a good but small week for releases which includes ‘Unknown’, The Adjustment Bureau, plus some other goodies.   As usual, in this article, you will get some info about the disc and the extras that come with the movie as well as a personal opinion about the movie and a link to purchase the film over at AMAZON where you can save quite a bit of money, and it will give a small percentage kick back to this site so we can continue bringing you excellent stories and sales.

Enjoy and Here We Go!!

THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU (BLURAY+DVD+DIGITAL COPY)

This is a great solid film.  It hooks you in right from the beginning and never lets you go.  This is something as of late that doesn’t happen to often with movies nowadays.  “Do we control our destiny, or do unseen forces manipulate us? A man glimpses the future Fate has planned for him and realizes he wants something else. To get it, he must pursue across, under and through the streets of modern-day New York the only woman he’s ever loved. On the brink of winning a seat in the U.S. Senate, ambitious politician David Norris (Damon) meets beautiful contemporary ballet dancer Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt) – a woman like none he’s ever known. But just as he realizes he’s falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart. David learns he is up against the agents of Fate itself – the men of The Adjustment Bureau – who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent David and Elise from being together. In the face of overwhelming odds, he must either let her go and accept a predetermined path…or risk everything to defy Fate and be with her.”

  • CEDAR RAPIDS (BLURAY)

Ed Helms is AWESOME in this movie.  The film itself is good, but Helms makes it.  I enjoyed this quite a bit.  “Tim Lippe (Helms) was the guy people always thought would go places but then he just … didn’t. He’s been living in über-sleepy Brown Valley, Wisconsin his whole life, still “pre-engaged” to his 7th grade teacher Macy Vanderhei (Weaver), while selling insurance to protect other people’s dreams. But now, Tim’s stalled life is about to get a kick-start because, for the first time in his 34 years, he’s headed to a “major” metropolis – Cedar Rapids, Iowa – where he must try to save his company at a do-or-die insurance convention that, for him, will be entirely unconventional. From the minute he checks into his hotel with his ancient American Tourister and cummerbund money belt, it’s clear Tim has no idea how the modern world really works. He is soon smitten with seductive Nebraskan insurance agent Joan Ostrowski-Fox (Heche) and awed by his experienced roommates, the straight-shooting Ronald Wilkes (Whitlock Jr.) and the suspicious Dean Zeigler (Reilly)…”

  • GROWTH (BLURAY)

I haven’t gotten a chance to watch this yet, but the cover alone makes the film look good.  Plus I’m willing to watch anything that has the words “bloody, grim, and unsettling” on the front cover.  “In 1989, a breakthrough in Advanced Parasitic Development at the Cuttyhunk Island Research Facility led to a mysterious outbreak that killed most of the center’s staff and the island’s residents. Twenty years later, a young woman who fled the original epidemic has returned with a group of friends to sell her family’s property. But a new breed of parasite may have evolved and survived. They are fast moving. They can slither into or out of any orifice in the human body.”

KISS ME DEADLY (BLURAY CRITERION COLLECTION)

Criterion yet again rolls out the red carpet for ‘Kiss Me Deadly’.  This film is awesome. “In this atomic adaptation of Mickey Spillane’s novel, directed by Robert Aldrich (What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? The Dirty Dozen), the good manners of the 1950s are blown to smithereens. Ralph Meeker (Paths of GloryThe Dirty Dozen) stars as snarling private dick Mike Hammer, whose decision one dark, lonely night to pick up a hitchhiking woman sends him down some terrifying byways. Brazen and bleak, Kiss Me Deadly is a film noir masterpiece as well as an essential piece of cold war paranoia, and it features as nervy an ending as has ever been seen in American cinema.”

  • LOUIE: THE COMPLETE 1ST SEASON (BLURAY)

Damn this show is funny.  I am so happy the 2nd season has just started on FX.  See this show.  You will laugh for days.  “From the uproariously unrestrained mind of comedian Louis C.K. comes the year’s most outrageously original comedy! As a newly-divorced, well-meaning father raising two young daughters, Louie struggles to cope with his strenuous mid-life shake-up, and his stand-up comedy provides a gleefully warped reflection of his hectic, everyday reality. There are disastrous first dates, indecent proposals, high school bullies, booze-addled play dates—and more. Featuring stellar guest stars such as Matthew Broderick and Ricky Gervais, Louie is unfiltered, off-kilter, and hilarious!”

    EXTRAS

  • Commentaries on Eleven Episodes
  • Deleted and Extended Scenes
  • Fox Movie Channel Presents Writer’s Draft
  • MEGA PYTHON VS. GATOROID (BLURAY)

Such a terrible fucking movie, but that is what makes this movie so obnoxiously enjoyable and fun to watch.  Get your friends, get some beers, and wait till midnight, and turn this on and crank up the sound.  You will be in for a fun as hell night.  “It’s a battle of the beasts from the director of Pet Sematary that’ll rock your world when two titanic terrors face off along with a pair of ‘80s pop icons! After doctor and activist Nikki Riley (Debbie Gibson) accidentally unleashes a python into the Everglades, rival doctor Terry O’Hara (Tiffany) is tasked with finding an expert reptile hunter—and when her boyfriend dies in the process, she resorts to extreme measures to create genetically enlarged gators to stop the slithering menace. Soon the swamp is a huge, scaly battleground between colossal gators and pythons — with a charity ball of potential human snacks in their path! Don’t miss this mammoth spectacle of teen queens and man-eating monsters in a gargantuan duel to the death!”

  • UNKNOWN (BLURAY+DVD+DIGITAL COPY)

So, ‘Unknown’ is fun thrill ride, but don’t expect originality, big plot twists, or a whole lot of quality, besides Liam Neeson, and Diane Kruger.  They give great performances with what they were given.  You will enjoy the film a few times and definitely should be added to your Liam Neeson movie marathon night.  The audio and visual aspects are fucking top grade A+.  And the extra features are terrible and not worth watching.  I would have hoped for commentaries, an in depth behind the scenes, and maybe a gag reel.  However it is definitely worth a look.  I will say that it not only comes with the blu-ray, but with the DVD and digital copy.  So that’s good news.  “The star of Taken and The A-Team jumps back into action with brute force! Liam Neeson plays Dr. Martin Harris, who awakens after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife (January Jones) suddenly doesn’t recognize him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity. Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by mysterious assassins, he finds himself alone, tired and on the run. Aided by an unlikely ally (Diane Kruger), Harris plunges into a deadly mystery forcing him to question his sanity, his identity and just how far he’s willing to go to uncover the truth.”

    EXTRAS

  • Liam Neeson: Known Action Hero (HD, 4 min.) — This is basically a short featurette that has the cast and crew talking about working with Liam Neeson with tons of in movie footage shown throughout.  Boring, drab, and un-interesting.  Poor Extra.

  • ‘Unknown’: What is Known? (HD, 4 min.) — Another very short featurette of several talking head interviews with cast and crew talking about how much they had fun on the set of this film and why we should love this film.  Plus more in movie footage is shown.  Again, boring, drab, and un-interesting.  Poor Extra.

That’s it for the 3rd week of June.  Now up next will be the 4th and last week of June’s releases.  Stay tuned.
