Hi everyone, Bryan here….
You just can’t keep Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio away from each other. The two are prepping a new film that is based on the true crime thriller ‘Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI‘ by author David Grann. This insane true story is set in the 1920s where the members of the Osage nation in Oklahoma were brutally killed after someone discovered oil beneath their land. This went on for a while as a serial murder rampage, which was one of the first big cases the FBI investigated.
This project is in the very early stages of coming together, however Scorsese’s longtime production designer Dante Ferretti is already in Oklahoma looking for locations to shoot, and there is a first version of a screenplay by Oscar winning writer Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). Other than that, there is no other information available. DiCaprio and Scorsese are developing the movie together with Scorsese directing, but no word on if DiCaprio will star in the film yet, but I imagine that’s just because they haven’t announced it yet and haven’t crossed the t’s on the contract yet.
Scorsese and DiCaprio have made five total films together and one short film, which would make this number six for the talented duo. This will be Scorsese’s next project after he finishes his new gangster film ‘The Irishman‘, which will star Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino, which should start shooting this Fall, according to Variety. Martin Scorsese is 74 years old and is showing no signs of slowing down or toning his subject matter down in films the older her gets, which is just amazing.
I for one am looking forward to both ‘The Irishman‘ and this new serial killer thriller. Now I need to read the book to see what it’s all about. More info to come soon.
