Hi Bryan Here…
Sorry for the lack of updates recently. Been a busy hectic holiday season so far. But rest assured, tons of content will be unloaded over the next few days, plus some most excellent contests on the site where you can win prizes. So stay tuned. Any who, some very weird news came over the wire the other day. It seems that George Lucas wants to make a film involving dead movie stars.
Actor/ Director Mel Smith was talking to the Daily Mail over at the UK about his career and his thoughts on certain people. In the article, Mel discusses working with George Lucas on the set of Radioland Murders. If you remember it was a comedy back in 1994 directed by Mel and written by Lucas. Mel went on to say that Lucas was not that great of a writer and had no idea how to write comedy.
The Mel dropped a bomb and said, Lucas has a new obsession now. Which is buying up all the rights to dead movie stars, in order to make some kind of movie with all of them in it, by using the digital resurrection process.
Now by no means do I think Lucas should write or direct anything else again. I hope if this information comes to be true, that he has some other talent come and and take the reigns and Lucas himself would only fund the project and step back.
So that said, just think of the possibilities for this film. Orson Welles, Fay Wray, John Belushi, and Buster Keaton in the same film. Could be AWESOME!
Mel Smith on George Lucas:
“He’s been buying up the film rights to dead movie stars in the hope of using computer trickery to put them all together in a movie, so you’d have Orson Welles and Barbara Stanwyck appear alongside today’s stars.’ Whether Lucas’ attempt to superimpose the golden-era stars on to today’s screens is doomed to failure or not, Smith will be too busy to be part of it.”

This is a terrible prospect! George Lucas has already changed the way I look at the Star Wars franchise, and it is not for the better. So now we will have some absurd plot in which Marilyn Monroe and James Franco make out with Jimmy Stewart playing the bad guy or something.
I don’t even care if the special effects would look great. John Wayne was awesome, and you knew who he was by the roles he chose and the persona that he portrayed. Now technology can turn him into a cross dresser in Too Wong Foo 2… I HATE THIS!!!
Let’s all hope that the hubris of this dope does not extend to the point where he will besmirch the good name of all the great actors that have passed away.
I think the idea is cool, and as I said above, he just needs to fund it and get some real talent, because it could be cool. Just hope it is not a Night at the Museum type of film.
