Hey guys, Jana here,

boombox-say-anything

1989 saw a lot of movie releases, but one film truly had lasting power. If you look back over television and movies since then, there is going to be one scene, one action that stands above the rest. A boy holding a boombox over his head, serenading the girl of his dreams with Peter Gabriel’sIn Your Eyes‘.

‘Babylon Fields’ Resurrecting From Cancellation!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Feb 26th, 2014

Jana B. here,

Babylon Fields

Remember the show ‘Babylon Fields‘ from CBS? Yeah, me either. There’s a reason for that. Looks like it was worked up to pilot order in 2007 but CBS axed it before it could air. Looks like NBC is resurrecting the series and ordering a new pilot with some of the original cast. Meagan Good and Skeet Ulrich is part of the new cast. Ulrich is known for his roles in ‘The Craft‘, ‘Scream‘, and CBS’ TV show, ‘Jericho‘.

Film Review: ‘The Book Thief’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 14th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

the-book-thief01

For some reason, 20th Century Fox wants to compare ‘The Book Thief‘ with the Oscar winning film ‘Life of Pi‘, because in the trailers for ‘The Book Thief‘, it says “From the studio that brought you ‘Life of Pi’. Sure, you can argue that both films come from novels, deal with survival of the most dire consequences, and have a ton of symbolism with life, death, love and God, but I don’t understand why you would want to compare the two, other than drive audiences to see the film, with the hopes that it will garner a decent amount of awards and a giant amount of cash like ‘Life of Pi’ did. Unfortunately, I don’t think ‘The Book Thief’ will accomplish these goals. It won’t succeed in these goals, not because of the filming, acting, or story. Those aspects are very good. It’s the execution, pacing, and the too many “on the nose” cheesy sentimental moments that ultimately make this film fall in the deep dark cracks of the cinema basement. That, and the lack of big CG effects, a beautiful colorful world, and a big tiger. Based on Markus Zusak’s novel of the same name, director Brian Percival (whose only claim to fame is a couple of episodes of ‘Downton Abbey), relies mostly on his cast to keep this film trucking along. This is not a happy movie by any means, and actually starts out quite grim as we meet Liesel (Sophie Nelisse), a young girl with her mother and younger brother, who board a train, but who do not know that their mother is giving them up for adoption. And on the way to their new family, the younger brother dies, as the narrator informs us over the grim images. In fact, the narrator is death himself.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Darren-Aronofsky

Director Darren Aronofsky has been hard at work on his epic tale of ‘Noah’s Ark‘, after he left the ‘Wolverine‘ project. We’ve heard that he’s looking to develop a project on George Washington at some point, but now we hear that 20th Century Fox is reaching out to the director to develop another film. Aronofsky is currently in talks to make ‘Red Sparrow‘, an espionage thriller based on a book by Jason Matthews of the same name, which was published back in June.

Hi, Bryan Here….

On October 10th, the ‘Daredevil’ right will revert back to Marvel from 20th Century Fox.  So it’s in Fox’s best interest to start production on a ‘Daredevil’ reboot.  Marvel has been discussing this project with Fox chairman Tom Rothman about keeping the ‘Daredevil’ story with Fox past its October 10th deadline, because it looks like Fox is lining up director Joe Carnahan to direct the reboot.
