Film Review: ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 26th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Transformers_Age_of_Extinction_42240

I’m not sure why there was an idiotic woman behind me, applauding and yelling “Woooo”, every time an autobot was on screen, but it happened throughout Michael Bay’s fourth installment of his ‘Transformers‘ franchise. Let me assure you, there is absolutely NOTHING to applaud or cheer for in ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction‘. If you weren’t sure if Michael Bay couldn’t get any worse as a filmmaker, think again. He outdoes himself here and tries to throw all of his tricks into one bag, leaving us with a film that can only be described as ‘shit with big explosions’.

Hi, Jana here,

coens

If we were to talk about filmmakers that have a specific feel to their films there would be a wide variety of names on that list. But if we narrow the field down to filmmakers that are a wildly successful pair of brothers, Joel and Ethan Coen would undoubtedly fit the bill.

The Coen’s have a peppered legacy of complex films with ‘Raising Arizona‘, ‘Fargo‘, ‘The Big Lebowski‘ and ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou‘ among many others. Looks like the pair is not taking any time off from a career that has most recently been recognized with an Academy Award nomination for 2013’s ‘Inside Llewyn Davis‘. Universal Pictures has picked up ‘Hail, Caesar!‘ the latest original screenplay from the Coen’s. Besides writing the script, they will direct stars George Clooney and Josh Brolin in starring roles.

Film Review: ‘Fading Gigolo’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 30th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

FADING GIGOLO

I never thought I’d see the day where Woody Allen would play a pimp who had a male prostitute played by John Turturro. Fortunately for everyone, that day has finally come, and I’m proud to say that I’m a big fan of the film ‘Fading Gigolo‘.We all know who Woody Allen is and most of us know John Turturro from a variety of acting roles he has done over the past couple of decades including Jesus Quintana (‘The Big Lebowski‘), Pete (‘O Brother Where Art Thou‘), Knish (‘Rounders‘), and of course Barton Fink. I could keep going, but you get the picture.

Interview With John Turturro on ‘Fading Gigolo’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 23rd, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here….

JesusQuintana

I had the extreme pleasure to sit down with the legendary actor/writer/director John Turturro and discuss his new film, ‘Fading Gigolo‘. We talk about making the movie, casting Woody Allen, Sharon Stone, Sofia Vergara, and Liev Schreiber, as well as some of his favorite moments in film. We even got Mr. Turturro to reprise his Jesus Quintana character from ‘The Big Lebowski‘ and asked him about his bowling skills and the tournament with the Dude and Walter. It was such a fun interview in Dallas, TX., and his film ‘Fading Gigolo‘ is one of the best films of the year. Go See it. CLICK HERE  for the review.

Philip Seymour Hoffman 1967-2014!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 2nd, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here….

Philip_Seymour_Hoffman_as_Brandt

I still can’t believe I am writing this article. I’m in complete shock. I am upset, angry, and confused. How can stuff like this still happen, especially to people who have a means to get better. Drugs and addiction is a terrible thing. A terrible-terrible thing. And eventually, they took the life of one of the greatest actors ever to grace the big screen. I hate to write that actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has passed away earlier this Sunday of a heroine drug overdose.

Showtime Announces Two New Series!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 16th, 2014
Jana B., Here,

Joshua Jackson

I love watching premium network series. It started with ‘The Sopranos‘. I was absolutely fascinated by how many times they cursed, how much violence it showed, and don’t forget all the T&A in the sex scenes! I should also include the story line arcs that I never wanted to end, as well. I just couldn’t believe this wasn’t a stand alone movie, but a series I got to watch every week! As time went by I had my attention divided to include ‘Big Love‘, ‘Weeds‘, ‘Nurse Jackie‘, ‘Dexter‘….and on and on and on. So I’m excited about Showtime’s announcement of two new series that have been picked up.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Flight’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 8th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

DVjw4vdEFaC6mm_1_l

Flight‘ is a huge and very warm welcome back for director Robert Zemeckis, who for more than a decade now has been making animated motion capture films including ‘A Christmas Carol‘ and ‘The Polar Express‘.  With ‘Flight‘, he is back where he belongs, with big stars and big set pieces.  I’ve really missed Zemeckis’s work over the last decade in the live action arena.  Zemeckis directed the ‘Back to the Future‘ films and ‘Forest Gump‘ to name a couple.  And now, with ‘Flight‘, Zemeckis has proven that he has not lost his touch in any way as this film provides amazing and heartfelt characters, one of the most thrilling plane crashes ever filmed, and beautiful photography.

Hi Bryan Here….

Some very good releases this week.  I always scream like a schoolgirl when a Kubrick film is released on blu-ray criterion which…well…only happened one other time, but I hope much much more from Kubrick is released on Criterion.   Some of the must own blu-rays include ‘Kubrick’s ‘The Killing’ Criterion Collection’, ‘Big Lebowski’,  ‘Demolition Man’, plus some other goodies.   As usual, in this article, you will get some info about the disc and the extras that come with the movie as well as a personal opinion about the movie and a link to purchase the film over at AMAZON where you can save quite a bit of money, and it will give a small percentage kick back to this site so we can continue bringing you excellent stories and sales.

Enjoy and Here We Go!!

It’s the song Joel and Ethan Coen made beyond famous in their 1998 cult film hit “The Big Lebowski”, all with the thanks to musician and producer T-Bone Burnett for plucking this gem out of near obscurity, and the absolute one song that has been on my ‘I-must-own-this-record-if-it’s-the-last-thing-I-ever-do’ list. It’s also the one song in the history of music that gives some shred of coolness and dignity to Kenny Rogers, despite the many terrible country cross-over songs we’ve been subjected to all these many years. “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” is the epitome of awesome regardless of where it’s been or who has sung it.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

This is definitely on my radar now. Jeff Bridges and Chris Hemsworth, meaning The Dude and Thor are most likely going to star in a new film called Bad Times at the El Royale, which will be directed by Drew Goddard and released by 20th Century Fox. Despite the awesome two actors and the cool title, filmmaker Drew Goddard is one to watch for sure.

Film Review: ‘Inherent Vice’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 8th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Inherent_Vice_Movie

Paul Thomas Anderson is one of the best directors working today. His films tell unique and compelling stories with such sustenance and amazing characters that you can’t help but be fully immersed within his world. From ‘Boogie Nights‘ and ‘There Will Be Blood‘ to ‘Punch Drunk Love‘ to ‘The Master‘ and everything else in between, Anderson has time and time again show that he is at the top of his game with each film he puts out.

Bryan’s Best and Worst of 2014 List!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 22nd, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Wright_39_s_Top_10_Films_of_2014

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. 2014 was an interesting year to say the least, most of which was great. Movie-wise, I think 2014 had some excellent films filling its theaters, but of course it had some real stinkers too. Below is my list of the Best and Worst films of 2014 with some added categories down at the bottom. I believe this year I watched over 145 new films, theatrically speaking and it was very difficult to narrow them down from 25. After some chocolate snacks covered in marshmallow cream, I finally had a TOP 10. But when you talk about the Best movies, you have to mention the worst too. My list tends to be a tad bit different from others, but hey, I’m twisted. I highly encourage you to seek out these movies – good or bad and enjoy the rest of your year.

Movie Quotes

[Captain Typho is trying to talk Padme out of leaving Coruscant without protection]
Captain Typho:
My Lady, let me come with you.
Padmé:
There is no danger. The fighting is over, and... this is personal.
[Typho bows]
Captain Typho:
As you wish, My Lady... but I strongly disagree.
Padmé:
I'll be all right, Captain. This is something I must do myself. Besides, Threepio will look after me.
C-3PO:
Oh, dear.
