Film Review: ‘The Good Dinosaur’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 24th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

maxresdefault

This year marks the first time that Pixar released to feature films in the same year. Usually, Pixar releases one film every year or two, but in 2015, we got both ‘Inside Out‘ and this new Thanksgiving release ‘The Good Dinosaur‘. There was good reason for this second release as well, as this might have been the first Pixar movie to ever have a troubled history of production. Back in 2009, Bob Peterson came up with the story and was set to direct ‘The Good Dinosaur‘ a couple of years later.

Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy, ‘Jessica Jones‘ has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic private detective in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Plagued by self-loathing, and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need… especially if they’re willing to cut her a check.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is giving us a gift for the holidays in the form of a billion, dancing, laughing Twinkies, err ‘Minions‘ rather. You can get the #1 comedy of the year with three brand new mini-movies on Blu-ray or Digital HD.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Coming Thanksgiving of this year, Pixar and Disney comes a fantastic family feature, ‘The Good Dinosaur‘. The film answers the question “What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?” We enter a world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. The pair travel through a harsh and mysterious landscape where both learn the power of confronting their fears and discovering what they’re truly capable of.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Prehistoric dinosaurs have been extinct and that’s the way most of us feel they should stay. In 1993’s ‘Jurassic Park‘ we saw cloning pioneer John Hammond not only pursuing the knowledge to create many long-dead species, but to turn it into an amusement park. We all know how that first run ended. Twenty-Two years later, ‘Jurassic World‘ is open for business.

Hey guys, Jana here,

sharlto_copley_michelle_forbes_a_l

At the end of last week, we brought you a story that featured some casting news for Sony Playstation Network’s first foray into the original programming world. You can read that story, here. Today, we have more casting info.

Sharlto Copley has been in back and forth negotiations to star in the series based on the graphic novel. Copley is an excellent actor and one of my favorite things about the ‘A-Team‘ movie in 2010. His turn as Murdock was so inspired and hilarious, I could watch him all day. I still make jokes about any food that tastes a little off as having been grilled by Murdock with his special sauce (antifreeze). Most recently he was seen in ‘Maleficent‘ as Stefan, there are two films in a post-production phase right now that are set to come out in 2015.

Re-Cast of ‘Reservoir Dogs’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 27th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

Reservoir-Dogs_510

Here is another episode of our famous RE-CASTING sessions. If you’re new to this podcast, here is where we pick an older film and re-cast the roles with new actors that we see fit. Since we’ve casted several comedies and one horror film so far, we though it would be fun to cast a drama-thriller, and what better film to re-cast than ‘Reservoir Dogs‘ by Quentin Tarantino. I know the cast already is perfect and we would never want this movie remade, but with Hollywood remaking everything today, here is our take on it. And to change it up on you, we completely re-cast all the roles with women. Enjoy this great episode. And Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Film Review: ‘Homefront’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 27th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

homefront-james-franco-jason-statham-1

It’s quite strange for Hollywood to be releasing this type of film for families on Thanksgiving. ‘Homefront‘ is a violent and bloody action thriller starring Jason Statham and James Franco, with a small appearance by Winona Ryder. The cheesy script is based on a novel by Chuck Logan and was written by Sylvester Stallone, who seems to not have grown out of the 80s action films he starred in. While Stallone is nowhere to be seen in this movie, he does serve as producer and writer, as his handprints are all over this.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Paramount has pushed back Martin Scorsese’sWolf of Wall Street‘ back to Christmas day. Originally, it was going to open Thanksgiving. But just shortly after they made this announcement, we have a brand new trailer with all new footage. And like the first one, it looks incredible. It looks like the main stars are Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill with Matthew McConaughey, Jean Dujardin, Rob Reiner, Kyle Chandler, Margot Robbie and Jon Bernthal rounding out the impressive cast.

Kelsey-Grammer-Takes-Baby-Faith-To-Playboy-Mansion-Party-455x303

This is pretty huge news.  Not in a long time have two big name actors decided to team up for a tv series for a network channel.  Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer are looking to develop and star in a new comedy project for Lionsgate.  The meetings started before Thanksgiving and we hear that both Lawrence and Grammer have amazing chemistry.  I’d buy that since Lawrence had such great chemistry with another tall white guy, Tim Robbins in ‘Nothing to Lose‘.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The 20th Century Foc animation team and Blue Sky Studios are developing a big film franchise for Charles Schulz’s ‘Peanuts’.  The team behind ‘Ice Age’ has already set a release date for the first film, which will be Thanksgiving day in 2015, so we have a bit of time.  More than three years in fact.  That date celebrates the 65th anniversary of the original comic strip and the 50th anniversary of the ‘Charlie Brown Chistmas’ special according to Deadline.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The third season of ‘The League is releasing October 9th.  That’s the same day as ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s’ 7th season release.  This was a great season and can’t wait to have it finally on home video. To be a fan of The League, you don’t need to know much about fantasy football, or sports at all. You just need to have friends that you hate. The ensemble comedy follows a group of old friends in a fantasy football league who care deeply about one another – so deeply that they use every opportunity to make each other’s lives miserable.

Record Store Day Black Friday 2011 Delivers Again

by NapkinArt on Nov 21st, 2011

As long as I can remember Thanksgiving has been my favorite holiday. There really is no holiday on the calendar that centers around food and family, and it’s the one day of the year where it is ok to stuff yourself into a food coma. Thanksgiving is also a favorite holiday for many, but many love the holiday because of the shopping day after known as ‘Black Friday.’

The older I get the less inclined I feel to venture out into the crazy public and spend money the day after Thanksgiving, especially since I feelcompletely lethargic after all that turkey and stuffing. But thanks to Record Store Day Black Friday, I again have an excuse to spend some cash on music and perhaps walk off some of those calories. Read the rest of this entry »
