Hey guys, Jana here,

spider_man_cover__comic_inspired__by_stick_man_11-d7bzjq7

The film world of comic book heroes is much like the Earth we are used to, gossip runs towns and friendships/alliances can be destroyed in moments with loose lips. The character drawing so much speculation today is Spider-Man. In particular, his film roles, when they release and who will be writing and directing the project.

Hillary’s Review of ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 1st, 2014

Hillary T. Here…

amazing spider-man-2 poster

In all fairness, I thought this movie was gonna suck. I couldn’t even remember the villain in the first film and even though I liked Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man, I didn’t think he could save this movie. The reason is that there are three major villains billed for this sequel, and as time as shown in the past, that is a lot for a movie to take on. Needless to say, it’s heavy handed for sure.

Jana B., Here…

 marvel_netflix600

The Superhero business is a big money maker and anything associated with Marvel Comics is getting snatched up as quickly as if Speed Demon were picking up a littered yard. The geek-friendly brand has just closed a deal with media giant, Netflix, to produce at least four 13-episode series that will lead up to a miniseries of The Defenders.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘ is gaining steam as actor Paul Giamatti is in final talks to join the sequel to play the villain known as ‘The Rhino’, with Felicity Jones also in final talks to join the cast in an unknown role.  If the talks go well, these two will join an already impressive cast of Andrew Garfiled (Peter Parker), Jamie Foxx (Electro), Shailene Woodley (Mary Jane Watson), and Dane DeHaan (Harry Osborne).

FedMex Reviews ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 3rd, 2012

FedMex Here….

The Amazing Spider-man is a mixed bag of treats for the whole family.  The character is being revamped at scantly over a decade since the franchise proved to be box office gold, and one can only assume that the only real reason for bringing back the web slinger is to rejuvenate the comic book hero at a time where comic book movies are both incredibly profitable and highly critically acclaimed.

Bryan’s Review of ”Amazing Spider-Man’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 28th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ is the best Spider-Man film to date.  I can’t believe I’m actually saying that either.  It was just less than a decade or so, that the original Spider-Man film came out.  So how can they be rebooting this franchise and why would they?  I think there are several answers to that question. One might be as simple as making more money.  The last three Spidey films have made tons of money. The opportunity came to make another film, and of course Marvel said “Yes” to that, therefore more money in the pockets of Marvel.  Another reason might be, is that the third Spider-Man film was such a terrible milestone in filmmaking, and acted as a “what not to do” with a superhero franchise, that Marvel thought it would be a good idea to just reboot the series.  And yet, even another reason might be, is that Marvel wanted to go the route of DC Comics and make an edgier more realistic superhero film, similar to what DC Comics did with the Batman franchise.

Hi, Bryan Here…

The third trailer for the Amazing Spider-Man is live, and I think it’s the best one yet.  It shows a bunch of action sequences and bit of the Lizard in action.  I like the story line they’re sticking with in this reboot, which is Peter Parker’s parents.  The cast is outstanding, and it looks like Andrew Garfield will be the better Spider-Man.  Enjoy and look for this on the Avengers prints this weekend.  Enjoy.

**UPDATE**Rhys Ifans Cast as “Spider-Man” Villain

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 11th, 2010

Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, Formula 51) has been cast as the villain in the next Spider-Man 3-D reboot.  Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire will not be returning.  No word yet on which villain Rhys will play, but comment with you guesses.

Official Press Release below:

RHYS IFANS JOINS CAST OF NEXT “SPIDER-MAN”

CULVER CITY, Calif., October 11, 2010 – Rhys Ifans will play the villain, opposite Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, in the next installment of Spider-Man from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, it was announced today by Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures. The film, to be directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and produced by Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin, will begin production in December and will be released in theatres nationwide in 3D on July 3, 2012.

Commenting on the announcement, Tolmach said, “We have been very fortunate to attract some of the best actors working today to play the villains in the Spider-Man movies, and it is exciting to see that trend continue with Rhys Ifans. After seeing his performance in our upcoming film Anonymous, we’re in awe of his talent and think he’s the perfect choice to take on this role.”

The filmmakers prefer to not reveal which character Ifans will be playing in the forthcoming film.

Webb added, “What sets the Spider-Man villains apart is the complexity of their relationships with Peter Parker. Rhys’ incredible ability to embody both warmth and rage makes him the ideal choice for this character.”

Spider-Man is being overseen at the studio by Tolmach and Rachel O’Connor. Ifans is represented by United Talent Agency, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Independent Talent Group.

**UPDATE**

Jeffrey Sneider from The Wrap is reporting that Rhys Ifans is set to play villain Dr. Curt Connors (The Lizard) in the upcoming Spider-Man flick.  I’m curious how this will play out.  Which story line and angle they will go with.  Rhys is a hell of an actor and I’m sure he will be killer in this role.

The Top 26 Film Vehicles!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 27th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Have you ever wanted to own a specific car from a film or television series?  I have compiled a list of my favorite vehicles from films and television series that I want to own someday.  Now, I am excluding spaceships, because that is a whole different list.  This particular list of vehicles all stay on the ground.  It was fun coming up with this list, and I imagine some of you out there actually own these cars or are working on restoring one.  Or just maybe it will give you an idea to make one of these in real life.  Enjoy.
