Film Review: ‘Ghostbusters’ (2016)

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 13th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

ghostbusters-2016-cast-proton-packs-images

Paul Feig certainly has quite the resume. This writer/director/producer has recently made some of the funnier films, including ‘Bridesmaids‘, ‘The Heat‘, ‘Spy‘, and let’s not forget the hit TV series ‘Freaks and Geeks‘. Feig knows comedy and how to cast his roles perfectly. Each one of those films and a tv show are spot on hilarious with charm and heart. This same filmmaker has pretty much done the impossible, which is revamp the iconic 1980’s film ‘Ghostbusters’. Even before the first trailer for the movie debuted online, there was a sea of online people who trashed the film even before seeing one single frame of the film. It became a whole thing where sexism became one of the issues here.

Film Review: ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 7th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

1200

Taika Waititi is one name you will soon remember for a very long time if you don’t already know it. Waititi is writer/director here for ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople‘, which is already in the top 5 BEST movies of the year, but Waititi is also an actor too. He starred in and directed the recent ‘What We Do In The Shadows‘, as well as directed ‘Eagle vs Shark‘ and even worked on ‘Flight of the Conchords‘ amongst other films. He is currently directing the upcoming ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘ film for Marvel, and it’s easy to see why Marvel hired this guy by watching ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople‘. Even if the premise here is similar to other films, Waititi makes the story and characters entirely refreshing and original.

Hi Everyone, Jodi here.

This past Saturday, I attended a con of a different kind.  Art Con: ANONYMOUS was the most recent event put on by local nonprofit, Art Conspiracy.  Founded in 2005, “Art Conspiracy is a nonprofit community that conspires to bring artists and musicians together, raise funds, and activate awareness for regional creative programs and causes.”  Each year a local, arts-based nonprofit is chosen as the beneficiary of year-long fundraising efforts, and the ‘Art Con Way’ has raised nearly $300,000 to date, through community-engaged philanthropy.

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

The Music of Strangers - Yo-Yo Ma

Everyone wants world peace. However, so few are willing to learn about other cultures and find a way to live and work together, co-exist. Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble have and continue to learn and make beautiful, inspiring music for sixteen years. The Silk Road Ensemble consists of musicians from various countries like Spain, Iran, China, etc., along the historical Silk Road (the link from China to Venice which was utilized to trade silk among other products). Ma and other musicians (Wu Man, Cristina Pato, Kayhan Kalhor, Kinan Azmeh, etc.) brought us The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and The Silk Road Ensemble, an insight to cultural musical masters from around the globe. by Gumbercules9000 on May 18th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

ghostbusters-2016-cast-proton-packs-images

It’s certainly been an interesting few months when it comes to the remake of the ‘Ghostbusters‘ movie from director Paul Feig that stars and all female cast of Ghostbusters. The first trailer quickly became the LEAST liked video on YouTube and there has been an abundance of people who have expressed their disdain for this new film, even without watching the entire movie.

The Trailer For ‘War Dogs’ Is Here and Hilarious!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 24th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

War-Dogs-poster

Director Todd Phillips has just released the trailer for his latest venture, and it’s not a Hangover film! Phillips made his name with the ‘Hangover‘ comedies and the Will Ferrell based ‘Old School‘. This time he’s taken on a different story and working with Miles Teller and Jonah Hill telling the true story of two young men, David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli, who won a $300 million contract from the Pentagon to arm America’s allies in Afghanistan.

Film Review: ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 23rd, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

For all the comic book fans around the globe, we live in a great time of moviemaking. Over the past decade, we’ve seen Hollywood take the superhero genre by storm, releasing comic book movie after comic book movie with A-list stars, talented directors, and epic budgets to bring our childhood heroes to life on the big screen. This successful genre has even garnered many awards, as well as numerous television shows on almost every network. It shows no signs of slowing up. Marvel has paved the way for superhero franchises, building on each superhero character that culminated into the ‘Avengers‘ movies, showcasing each superhero across the other superhero movies, providing a big bridge to gather all stories together. It’s been an  excellent financial and critical success.

Hey guys, Jana here,

boondock_saints1

TV can make the unlikeliest of people stars and sometimes they just reiterate what we’ve known all along and prove to us who the stars really have been the whole time. Nothing shows this more clearly than AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead‘ and it’s star Norman Reedus. Reedus landed on my radar in 1999 when I first peeped one of the greatest films in the world, ‘The Boondock Saints‘, when he showed the world what a pair of Irish brothers can do when they’re on a mission from God. I’ve been watching Reedus since then through ‘Blade II‘, ‘The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day‘ and onto TWD and every film or TV role in between, no matter how small.

What do you get when you take ‘The Fly‘, heap a ton of new technology on top, and finish it off with massive amounts of life-changing fluids?  You get the movie’Bite‘, which is supposedly a movie so gross and awesome, it’s making people puke and pass out in the theaters.

If you’re a faithful watcher of ‘House of Cards‘ on Netflix, there’s a new face in town, and it’s a face that has some TV experience, too. Six seasons of experience on ‘Party of Five‘ as Julia Salinger, Neve Campbell. She will be a new series regular which makes the biggest commitment Campbell has agreed to in years.

Series guru Ryan Murphy is readying ‘American Crime Story‘, his latest anthology offering, that will air nowhere but FX. The first story the show will tell is ‘The People v. O.J. WWE: RAW 3/9/15 Recap: Never Ever Trust a Viper

by Angelic Heel on Mar 13th, 2015

Angelic Heel once again…

The road to Wrestlemania never looked so bleak as it does now for all those loyal members of the WWE Universe that have proudly Bought In. Pittsburgh, PA was the scene of one of the most brutal unjustified beatings I have witnessed. RAW came to us live from the Steel City and was filled with its typical hard hitting action and more Intercontinental Championship shenanigans, but it was all darkened by the actions of one man, Randy Orton. Want to know what happened?

Film Review: ‘Focus’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 26th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Focus-2015-Movie

The art of deception and the big con job are at the center of ‘Focus‘, which is a very sleek film full of charm, wit, and a giant basket of twists and turns that will have you yelling in your seat. There isn’t anything relatively new or fresh here in the form of changing the game or genre of the ‘con-artist’ film, but with Will Smith and Margot Robbie’s performances and the luxurious and glossy look this film has, this deceptive film has a place of its own with the rest of the fun thief movies we’ve seen. Whether it be ‘Ocean’s 11‘, ‘Confidence‘, or even ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels‘, you can bet that you won’t see at least a few cons running full force at you.

You remember Antoine Roccamora, half black, half Samoan, used to call him Tony Rocky Horror?

Yeah, maybe. Fat, right?

I wouldn't go so far as to call the brother fat, I mean he got a weight problem. What's the nigger gonna do? He's Samoan.
