Hi Bryan Here….

“Like warm apple pie.”  All three films will be released on bluray March 13th packed with extras.  This just in time for the 4th installment that reunites the entire cast in ‘American Reunion’ which takes place at the gang’s 10 year high school reunion.  These movies really defined and changed the comedy genre pushing the bounds into a hilarious adult and vulgar comedy style.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 29th, 2019

“Godzilla: King of the Monsters receives a passing grade, because the monster fights really are that great!”

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is a frustrating mix of incredible special effects and monster fights with far too much Lifetime Network style human drama. As a fan of the first (new) Godzilla (2014) I was extremely excited for this one. I understood that in the first one the reason for limited Godzilla scenes was to create suspense and save money and I assumed that after the reveal of the first one this one would stray away from the issues of the first. Instead it doubles down on them by adding more useless human subplots, far too many human characters, and a story that (even for a giant monster movie) is just going through the motions.

Film Review: ‘Tolkien’!!

by Janet White on May 10th, 2019

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

“Even the smallest person can change the course of history.” – Lady Galadriel

Amazing words that continue to inspire people years after John Ronald Reuel Tolkien aka J. R. R. Tolkien’s (Nicholas Hoult) passing. From a very young age, Tolkien was a dreamer. Encouraged by his theatrical mother with her animated storytelling, Tolkien portrays its namesake as a person simultaneously living in two different worlds nearly all of the time. Set in England and France, the viewer gains insight into Tolkien’s beginnings and influences. Books were his constant companion that provided an escape from losing his father and later his mother. It is no wonder that Tolkien went on to write two of the most complex and fantastical books of all time. As an orphan, Tolkien meets the love of his life, Edith Bratt (Lily Collins) and his quest to find love, thrive in college, and eventually establish himself in a career takes off from there.

Jana’s Best of 2017!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 1st, 2018

Hey guys, Jana here,

I know these “Best of 2017” lists should technically be published in 2017, but why would I start 2018 any differently than I lived the majority of my adult life: Procrastinating and underachieving. What can I say? That’s my wheelhouse.

For a year that put a spotlight on some of the shittiest behavior by some of the Hollywood elite, it was actually a good year for TV and movies. I didn’t limit myself in number because as I moved on with the brackets, I felt like I was making ‘Sophie’s Choice‘ on some of these, so they’re all getting in! I’m feeling my inner-Oprah here, You’ve made the list! You made the list! EVERYBODY made the list!! In order to spare myself any arguments, I’m stating up front that my picks for the “Best of 2017” are not edited in regards to scandal or hideous human behavior.

Film Review: ‘Rebel in the Rye’!!

by Janet White on Oct 14th, 2017

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

The Catcher in the Rye took the U.S. by storm nearly from its initial printing. The author, J.D. Salinger, transformed from obscurity to magnified limelight causing him to retract from the world. The more the public wanted to know him or be his infamous character, Holden Caulfield, the more withdrawn Salinger became which increased the mystery. In the past 66 years, the novel has been printed, re-printed, translated and massively distributed throughout the world. Schools have both required and banned the reading for reasons of profanity and its message. Rebel in the Rye details Salinger’s (Nicholas Hoult) life and progression as a writer. From his early years as a willful, smart mouth to an obsessed literary giant. Read the rest of this entry »

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Good news and bad news, folks. The good news is that Fox is releasing two amazing TV Shows for their Anniversary  on September 19th, being Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly from Joss Whedon. There will be new packaging and collectibles with each set. The bad news is that there still isn’t and won’t be a Blu-ray or high definition version of Buffy, which just sucks and drives a stake right through my heart. This show looks terrible and is in badly need of an HD upgrade.

Top 10 Ryan Gosling Scenes in Movies!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 17th, 2017

Audrey E., here….

Screen Shot 2017-03-17 at 9.59.40 AM

Ryan Gosling is a true patron for the arts. Proof of this can not only be found in his selective partaking in films with telling characters, but also in his accomplished side projects. There’s his under-appreciated dark wave and gothic indie band, Dead Man’s Bones, and we can’t forget his courageous 2014 directorial debut in the fantasy drama, Lost River. He’s come a long way from his humble beginnings as a Mouseketeer on The All New Mickey Mouse Club, and despite the pressure from Hollywood to keep up appearances, Ryan concentrates on staying true to himself and what matters most: his art. Today I’ve put together a list of my Top 10 favorite Ryan Gosling performances in film and why this talented Canadian, a true 21st century James Dean, is more than meets the eye.
