Hey guys, Jana here,

Brace yourselves, every habit-ish line, saying or phrase you can think of is about to be thrust upon you now that Disney has upped the ante on the remake game, announcing that ‘Sister Act‘ is on the block as the next title to be revamped. They’re Catholic, they’re nuns and nuns wear habits, got it.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Black Mass‘. I’ve been waiting for this movie for a long time, I love mafia storylines. Give me ‘The Sopranos‘, ‘Goodfellas‘, ‘The Departed‘ and ‘The Godfather trilogy’, books, documentaries, whatever it is, I dive in head-first. Bonus points if the stories are true, as in the case of Whitey Bulger.

Here’s The New Trailer for The ‘Robocop’ Remake!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 7th, 2013

Jana B., Here…

 RoboCop+remake

I just checked out the new Robocop trailer. “Why is America so Robo-phobic?” is the phrase I plan on working into every conversation I have for the foreseeable future. This phrase is uttered by the badly rugged Samuel L. Jackson. So far in the 2:26 minute long trailer we see some awesome CG effects which stands to reason if you’re watching a movie about a cyborg policeman, or any movie made in 2013. Long gone are the days of non-computerized special effects.

Film Review: ‘R.I.P.D.’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 19th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

ripd_01

I’ve spoken with many people about their thoughts on seeing ‘R.I.P.D.‘ this weekend, and 9 out of 10 of them have said it looks terrible. In addition, I’ve heard a lot of studio people talking how this summer blockbuster that cost an estimated $130 million won’t even top out at $15 million this weekend. It’s a tough call as several movies come out this weekend, including a horror film that’s been generating a lot of good buzz. ‘R.I.P.D.‘, which is based on a Dark Horse comic series was surprisingly a lot of fun. Sure, it was silly stupid fun, but none-the-less, entertaining.

‘Flatliners’ Is Being Remade!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 27th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

flatliners

Yes, it’s true, but it’s not all bad news. Niels Arden Oplev will indeed directed a reboot of the 1990 thriller ‘Flatliners‘, which starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, and Billy Baldwin. You might know Opley’s name as he was the guy who directed the original 2009 ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo‘.

Bryan’s Review of ‘The Possession’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 30th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here…

Finally, the Catholics aren’t the only group getting into the demon possession genre.  There is a Judaic version now.  ‘The Possession’ is basically ‘The Exorcist’, but much worse and instead of priests, there are rabbis.  The demon is known as a dybbuk and resides in a wooden box.  ‘The Possession’ is partly based on a true story, but what horror movie isn’t these days.  With the help of Robert Tapert and Sam Raimi producing this little flick, I was hoping this would be truly terrifying.  Instead, I received a dull film with a couple of creepy moments that I forgot about as soon as I got home.  If I learned anything from ‘The Possession’, it’s “Never buy an old mysterious box at a yard sale.”

Hi, Bryan Here….

The Toronto Film Festival is coming up quickly and it looks like it is going to be one for the books.  ‘Looper’ is going to open up the festival with several other centerpiece films that strike my fancy.  Two of them include Joss Whedon’s Shakespeare film ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, and Terrence Malick’s new film, ‘To The Wonder’.  Can’t wait.  Below is the official press release.  Who’s going? Piers Handling, CEO and Director of TIFF, and Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, made the first announcement of films to premiere at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival. Films announced include titles in the Galas and Special Presentations programmes. The announced films include 17 Galas and 45 Special Presentations, including 38 world premieres.

Bryan’s Top 10 Films of 2011!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 29th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…

We’re here at that time again.  The end of the year.  And thus, here is my list of my top 10 movies of 2011.  Now these are films I saw in the theatre or at home that came out in the year 2011.  I have seen several films already that won’t come out until 2012, but those will have to wait till next year at this time.  There were tons of great films that came out this year.  It was a hard year to narrow down.  I usually pick my top 10, by going through the entire list of releases throughout the entire year and then writing all the ones  really liked down.  Then the narrowing process begins.  Now my Top 10 list will probably be way different then most others you will see.  I tend to chose films for my list that I thoroughly enjoy time and time again rather than ones that might win awards at the big shows.  Without further delay here is my Top 10 films for 2011.

Hi Bryan Here….

Yes that’s right  We have been hearing about a remake of the Kevin Bacon film ‘Footloose’ for some time now.  Well we finally have a trailer for it, and to be honest, it doesn’t look half bad.  It is directed by Craig Brewer which he directed ‘Hustle and Flow’ and ‘Black Snake Moan’.  So you know Craig has the talent and he is very much into music going by those movies.  I remember seeing the original ‘Footloose’ growing up, and while I never was one of its huge fanatics, it still holds a good place in my mind. Now Brewer has updated the film for a new generation and I imagine fans of the original will either hate or love it.  But with Brewer’s talent, it is looking to be that people will enjoy it.

Hi Bryan Here….

I still haven’t had a chance to see this yet, but I have been hearing great things.  It really seems like they did this X-Men film right.  If only they got director Matthew Vaughn to direct ‘X3’.  But so far, people are saying this is right at the top with the best superhero films out there and one of the most satisfying films of the year.  Can’t wait to see it.  Enjoy FedMex’s review below.

Hi Bryan Here…

Earlier I posted a bit on the new X-Men film and the first photo of the heroes in costume, but it was a bit on the small side of things.  Kind of hard to distinguish the details.  Now I have some bigger and better versions of the photos plus some actual screenshots of the film including some excellent Kevin Bacon images and the first look at the teaser poster for the film.

Bryan’s Most Anticipated Films for 2011!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 7th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…

So 2010 is over and 2011 has just begun.  I was recently talking with a friend and we both agreed that 2010 was kind of a let down as far as movies went.  Don’t get me wrong, there were some precious gems riddled throughout the year, but they were not many.  Basically I said, that it was a very uncool year with flashes of coolness in regards to films.

Movie Quotes

Herbert Sobel:
[the company is in formation at Camp Toccoa] You people are at the position of attention!
[Sobel walks up to Perconte, who presents his rifle for inspection]
Herbert Sobel:
Private Perconte, have you been blousing your trousers over your boots like a paratrooper?
Frank Perconte:
No, sir.
Herbert Sobel:
Then explain the creases at the bottom.
Frank Perconte:
[pause] No excuse, sir.
Herbert Sobel:
Volunteering for the parachute infantry is one thing, Perconte, but you've got a *long* way to prove that you belong here. Your weekend pass is revoked.
[Sobel moves down the line to Luz]
Herbert Sobel:
Name.
George Luz:
Luz, George.
[he presents his rifle for inspection; Sobel examines it and tosses it back at him]
Herbert Sobel:
Dirt in the rear sight aperture. Pass revoked.
[Sobel moves down the line to Lipton]
Herbert Sobel:
When did you sew on these chevrons, Sergeant Lipton?
Carwood Lipton:
Yesterday, sir.
Herbert Sobel:
[holding up a single thread] Long enough to notice this. Revoked.
Carwood Lipton:
Sir.
Herbert Sobel:
[Sobel moves on to Malarkey] Name.
Donald Malarkey:
Malarkey, Donald G.
[he presents his rifle for inspection]
Herbert Sobel:
Malarkey. Malarkey's slang for "bullshit," isn't it?
Donald Malarkey:
Yes, sir.
Herbert Sobel:
[Sobel examines Malarkey's rifle, then tosses it back at him] Rust on the buttplate hinge spring, Private Bullshit. Revoked.
[Sobel moves on to Liebgott]
Herbert Sobel:
Name.
Joseph Liebgott:
Liebgott, Joseph D., sir.
[he presents his rifle for inspection]
Herbert Sobel:
[Sobel pulls Liebgott's bayonet out of its sheath and examines it] Rusty bayonet, Liebgott. You wanna kill Germans?
Joseph Liebgott:
Yes, sir.
Herbert Sobel:
[Sobel hits Liebgott's helmet with the bayonet] Not with this.
[he walks out in front of the company and holds the bayonet up for every man to see]
Herbert Sobel:
I wouldn't take this rusty piece of shit to war, and I will not take *you* to war in your condition!
[he thrusts the bayonet into the ground]
Herbert Sobel:
Now, thanks to these men and their infractions, every man in the company who had a weekend pass... has lost it.
[pause]
Herbert Sobel:
Change into your PT gear, we're running Currahee.
