HBO, along with Diablo Cody and Oprah Winfrey, under the Harpo Films title are coming together to explore an untitled comedy based on Dr. Julie Holland’s upcoming book, Moody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You’re Taking, the Sex You’re Not Having, The Sleep You’re Missing and What’s Really making You Crazy. That is a freaking mouthful for the title of one book. The book will delve into the pros and cons of taking medications and brings the side effects, normally in small print, up to the well-lit surface. Read the rest of this entry »

maleficent

Maleficent is by far one of the most wicked of all Disney villains. She appears at will, places curses on babies and that’s all before she turns into a bloody behemoth of a dragon! I just saw the new poster Disney released for “Maleficent“. This is the big movie we’ve heard of for so long that Angelina Jolie was supposed to be just perfect for.

Hi, Bryan Here….

LaborDayJasonReitmanFLphotofull1

I just love the films Jason Reitman has directed. He did ‘Juno‘, ‘Up in the Air‘, ‘Thank You For Smoking‘, and ‘Young Adult‘. Needless to say, he knows what he’s doing, as his father Ivan Reitman has passed down a great gift to him. His next film ‘Labor Day‘ looks incredible. It stars Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet, and is an adaptation from the Joyce Maynard novel.

Film Review: ‘Lovelace’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 12th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

lovelace d25 _161.tif

Here is the first of two films that is based on the porn phenomenon Linda Lovelace (Amanda Seyfried), who rose to superstardom in the early 70s with the film ‘Deep Throat‘. This biopic film of Linda Boreman could’ve been a disaster, but directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman made an engaging and entertaining look at Boreman’s life, even if at times her situations are difficult to watch. The acting is spot on for everyone in this film with a killer retro soundtrack. With a surprising wider release than I thought this little film would have, I expect a decent box office draw.

Blu-Ray Review: ‘Killer Joe’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 11th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…..

I didn’t know what quite to expect from ‘Killer Joe’, but after watching it, I got more than I bargained for.  ’Killer Joe’ was directed by William Friedkin who is most known for directing ‘The French Connection’, ‘The Exorcist’, and the recent film ‘Bug’.  Friedkin has been out of the spotlight for some time now, but his return with ‘Killer Joe’, the 76 year old Oscar winning director proves he has not missed a step.

Woozie Reviews ‘L!fe Happens’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 12th, 2012

Woozie Here…

From the beginning of L!fe Happens, we know this film is going to be a bit bawdier than the usual chick flick , as best friends Kim (Krysten Ritter) and Deena (Kate Bosworth) frantically decide who gets to use the last condom in the house. Fast-forward many months later and we find the pair flirting with guys in the car next to them only to be thwarted by baby buzz kill, Krysten’s consolation prize for losing use of the condom. From here the audience is taken on the expected journey of Krysten growing into single-motherhood, looking for love, and holding onto a changing friendship.

Hi Bryan Here….

Here is the first casting news from the remake of The Evil Dead.  Yes, to recap, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert will all be producing this remake.  But a new director, Fede Alvarez, is directing who really hasn’t done anything before, and they hired Diablo Cody (writer for Juno) to pen the script.  Now it seems they have cast their Ash.  And it seems to be a girl according to Bloody Disgusting.

Hi Bryan Here….

So I went in to this tv series not knowing anything besides that it is on ABC Family and that it has Molly Ringwald in it.  So after reading about it, I thought to myself, this sounds a little like ‘Juno’, but I was very skeptical.  So basically ‘The Secret Life of the American Teenager’ follows a teenage girl named Amy Juergens who becomes pregnant in High School and how she deals with al of the consequences of being a teenage mother.  Sounds like Juno right??
