Film Review: ‘Neighbors 2’!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 18th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

0002-neighbors-2-ew_0

It’s rare when a comedy sequel works on all levels. With sequels, you’d hope the original cast comes back and there is a good balance of returning and new jokes and plot devices to make it stand on its own without doing the same recycled material as the original. With the case of ‘Neighbors‘, you had a pretty great cast with Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Zac Efron, Dave Franco, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, in an ‘R’ rated comedy about a couple with a newborn baby, trying to raise a family next to a frat house. It was a solid premise with a lot of funny moments. The small budget film of only $18 million went on to make over $270 million at the box office.

The Trailer For ‘War Dogs’ Is Here and Hilarious!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 24th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

War-Dogs-poster

Director Todd Phillips has just released the trailer for his latest venture, and it’s not a Hangover film! Phillips made his name with the ‘Hangover‘ comedies and the Will Ferrell based ‘Old School‘. This time he’s taken on a different story and working with Miles Teller and Jonah Hill telling the true story of two young men, David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli, who won a $300 million contract from the Pentagon to arm America’s allies in Afghanistan.

Here’s the New Trailer for ‘Hail, Caesar!’

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 12th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

hail-caesar

Coen Brothers fans, you can start getting even more excited, because the Coen’s new film ‘Hail Caesar!‘ is coming out next month. We have a new trailer for the film, which is all sorts of funny and takes place during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Instead of the usual quick cuts and one liners in a trailer, we have a nice long clip with Alden Ehrenreich and Ralph Fiennes. Fiennes is trying to teach Alden how to speak with a proper British accent, and is comedy gold.

Hey guys, Jana here,
russell-simmons-and-rick-rubin-discuss-the-history-of-the-beastie-boys-01

We knew it was only a matter of time before the movie-world became flooded with rap biopics after the crazy success ‘Straight Outta Compton‘ is enjoying. We talked about a possible follow-up to Compton with ‘Welcome to Death Rowhere, and now there’s news that Universal is considering another rap story, this time of Def Jam Recordings and its co-founder Russell Simmons.

Film Review: ‘Trainwreck’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 15th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

NEbTciZPpnq3ei_1_b

Comedy mastermind Judd Apatow is back this year with a new feature film called ‘Trainwreck‘ and is his best film since ‘Knocked Up‘. That was eight years ago. Sure, Apatow has written and produced dozens of films since then, but has only really directed two other feature films since, being ‘Funny People‘ and ‘This is 40‘. The usual actors are nowhere to be seen in ‘Trainwreck‘ either. There is no Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jason Segel, Martin Starr, or even James Franco to be seen anywhere on screen. Actress and comedienne Amy Schumer wrote the screenplay here for Apatow to direct and the two are a perfect pair.

‘Ghostbusters’ Just Became A Whole Lot Bigger!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 9th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Ghostbusters_Wallpaper_by_SpazChicken

Sony Pictures is basically putting everything behind their revived ‘Ghostbusters‘ project. We all know that Paul Feig (‘Freaks and Geeks‘, ‘Bridesmaids‘) is making ‘Ghostbusters III‘ with an all female cast including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. But now it seems that Sony has much bigger plans for ‘Ghostbusters‘.

We’ve been telling you for a while that there is another ‘Magic Mike‘ film coming out, and it’s titled ‘XXL‘. Well, the first trailer is here and it’s damn funny. Channing Tatum just kills me here. I only wished that Jonah Hill would have made a cameo.

Hey guys, Jana here,

The-Coen-brothers-007

When we’re talking Hollywood, or just about movies in general and someone mentions the Coen’s. Everyone gets a different image in their heads. Some immediately think of Nicolas Cage‘s creepy porn-stache in ‘Raising Arizona‘, others think of the twangy song made popular in ‘O Brother Where Art Thou?‘ (which is currently on my iPod). Still others think of ‘The Dude’ in ‘The Big Lebowski‘.

Film Review: ‘How To Train Your Dragon 2’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 12th, 2014

Maggie V., Here…

how-to-train-your-dragon-2-trailer

A few years ago I went to watch ‘How to train your Dragon‘ in the theaters and was pleasantly surprised by what a great film it was. It was different than most of the stories being told on the big screen at the time. This story revolved more around not fitting in and finding your voice against popular opinion. Even now I put it on every once in a while, and it always puts a smile on my face. When I heard that there was a sequel, I had mixed emotions about it. Sequels tend to be just a bigger, blown out version of the original film. When I got the chance to check it out I was curious how it would hold up to the original. However, ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2‘ did not disappoint!

Film Review: ’22 Jump Street’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 11th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

1396290301000-22-JUMP-STREET-MOV-JY-3504--63256180

The movie theater chains across America are plagued with sequels, reboots, and remakes these days. It seems like almost every film out there is either a sequel or a remake of an older film, leaving the original indie films left out to dry for the more independent theaters or video-on-demand. While you want these sequels and remakes to be just as good as the original or first film, most of them fall a little short, or are down right terrible. There are only a select few sequels that receive the praise and box office power that have audiences across the globe cheering its name. And I’m happy to report that ‘22 Jump Street‘ falls into that category, maybe even being towards the top of that list.

We have a brand new trailer with new footage for ‘22 Jump Street‘, the sequel to 2012’s ‘21 Jump Street‘ reboot that starred Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube, Rob Riggle, Brie Larson, and Dave Franco. It was a surprise hit and did very well with critics. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are back directing the sequel, which they are hot off the press tour for their amazing ‘LEGO Movie‘. Michael Bacall is also back as the film’s writer.

Film Review: ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 20th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

wolf-of-wall-street-trailer-06172013-014649

Even though Martin Scorsese is 71 years old, he has not taken a slower and more cautious path in making films or even the stories he tells. ‘The Wolf of Wall Street‘ is anything but cautious and slow. In fact, during its three hour run time from start to finish, only one hour seems to have passed by, as we are thrown in head first into a drug-fueled, rich hungry, and ultra luxurious life of Jordan Belfort and the sinful synagogue know as Wall Street. I have no problem with saying that this is right up there with the best of Scorsese’s films, and it might be Leonardo DiCaprio’s most intense, layered, and greatest performances yet. Hundreds of millions of dollars are made during the course of this film, and I’m sure the same amount, if not more will be made at the box office this holiday.
