Weekend Events in Dallas

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 24th, 2010

This Friday the Texas State Fair starts.  This means tons of fried food including, fried frito pie, fried margaritas, fried smore pop tarts, and fried peaches and cream.  I try to stay away from the fried liquids since they are all TERRIBLE.  It is just donut holes with whatever liquid on it.  TERRIBLE.  I highly suggest last years favorite, the fried peaches and cream.  I hear the Fletcher’s Corn Dogs calling my name.

The Blue man Group will be playing this weekend at the new Winspear Opera House in Downtown Dallas.  I fyou have not seen this group perform, it is quite a spectacle.  Highly recommended.

This is the oldest and largest video festival in the nation. The 23rd annual fest showcases a variety of works by regional, national and international video and film artists. Presented by the Video Association of Dallas, it features screenings of about 155 works at the Angelika Film Center. Screenings include independent films, documentaries and experimental works, as well as children’s flicks.

Interview with David Arquette & Asiel Norton! (Exclusive)

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 20th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Screen Shot 2016-04-20 at 3.04.37 PM

I had a very fun and lively interview with David Arquette (Scream) and director Asiel Norton for their new film ‘Orion‘ at the Dallas International Film Festival. We discussed making the post-apocalyptic film where Arquette plays a Hunter who rescues a Virgin and tries to save the world. After talking about the film for a little bit, I had to ask David about his career, and that’s where things got fun.

Interview with Henry Thomas!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 18th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

henry-thomas

One of the best movies ever made is ‘E.T.‘, and I had the distinct pleasure to talk with Henry Thomas who played Elliot in that iconic film. We discuss his audition for the role in E.T. and that famous kiss, which was quite comical behind the scenes. We also get into his work on ‘Gangs of New York‘, meeting Michael Jackson and his work in the ‘Star Wars‘ universe. Henry is also a musician who has an album coming out in a couple of months, which we also discuss. This was such a fun interview that took place in Dallas, TX. in 2016 for the Dallas International Film Festival.

Check Out The Trailer for The New ‘Robocop’ Remake!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 5th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

Robocop_remake_fanposter

Here’s your first look at the remake of ‘Robocop‘ from director Jose Padilha. Joel Kinnaman, star of AMC’sThe Killing‘ will play Robocop. Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish and Jay Baruchel co-star. It’s gonna be difficult to fill Peter Weller’s shoes in this, as well as make a gritty enough film.

Gary Oldman Joins ‘Robocop’ Remake!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 23rd, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here…

Gary Oldman has just signed on to star in MGM’s remake of ‘Robocop’.  If you didn’t know that ‘Robocop’ was being remade, well now you do.  Blasphemy, I know.  Joel Kinnaman will play Alex Murphy/Robocop with Jose Padilha directing.  Kinnaman is best known for his role on ‘The Killing’ on AMC.  Padilha has directed a few documentaries along with ‘Elite Squad’.  Needless to say, I have no hope for this film.

Bryan Reviews ‘Tchoupitoulas’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 6th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here…

Tchoupitoulas (pronounced CHOP-it-TOO-luhs) is simply brilliant storytelling.  It’s something I have not seen done before, and it came across vibrantly original and engaging.  Brothers Bill and Turner Ross directed the documentary Tchoupitoulas, which is the name of a street in New Orleans, Louisiana.  This documentary has no real narrative or message, but rather an observance of the eccentricities and wildness of life in New Orleans. The film also won the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary Feature at the Dallas International Film Festival this year.

Bryan Reviews ‘Queens of Country’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 19th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

It is hard to think of a comparison for the movie ‘Queens of Country’ because, quite honestly, I’ve never seen anything like it.  Directors Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke may have just created the first of a new film genre, seamlessly weaving comedy, angst, campiness, desperation, musical numbers, and line dancing. It is rare to find a film that is so original and oddly amazing that it succeeds on all levels.  ‘Queens of Country’ breaks the rules of film and takes you on a hilarious journey of love, confusion, and music.

Bryan Reviews ‘Liberal Arts’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 14th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Josh Radnor’s ‘Liberal Arts’ is nothing short of amazing and was a perfect film to open up the 2012 Dallas International Film Festival.  Most of you might know Radnor from the hit television series ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ where he plays the hopelessly romantic lead character.  But with ‘Liberal Arts’, Radnor throws out the laugh-track-style comedy and give you one of the smartest and most genuine performances of the past few years.  I have no doubt that audiences will fall in love with the incredible cast, witty dialogue, and light-hearted yet heart-felt story.

Hey guys, Jana here,

evan-peters

American Horror Story: Hotel‘ has already seen much of their revolving door of actors sign on for the new anthology series and as of now, Evan Peters has agreed as well. This marks Peters’ fifth season run with the Ryan Murphy horror series. The only other actor, besides Peters, to have appeared in each re-imagining is Sarah Paulson.
