‘Benji’ Reboot Underway In New Orleans!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Oct 18th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

benji-9

If you’re a director in Hollywood and you’ve got a movie near and dear to your heart that you don’t want to see bastardized with a remake, how can you prevent that? Well, if you’re Joe Camp, you get your son to be the one responsible for the remake. If this one gets messed up Christmas is pretty awkward, right? OK, I don’t know if that’s the exact way the reboot came about, but the bottom line is we’re getting a reboot of ‘Benji‘!!!

Damian S., here…

screen-shot-2016-10-06-at-4-41-27-pm

It’s not everyday you get to sit in a room with as much talent as I did today! While in attendance at this years Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX I discovered that they have a lesser known track aptly titled Fantastic Market. Fantastic Market host pitches from filmmaker literally around the world. On top of the pitches they have provided work-in-progress screenings, panels from industry greats such as Travis Stevens (Snowfort Pictures) and Ryan Turek (BLUMHOUSE) mixers and a ton of other events.  Read the rest of this entry »

Hey guys, Jana here,

Insidious-4-Movie

Blumhouse is one of my favorite names when it comes to awesome scary movies and that name just popped up on the radar with another film sure to scare even the most stalwart film-goer. This company doesn’t just produce one-off horror flicks, they develop franchises and give us sequels that are every bit as awesome as the originals, some of these are ‘The Purge‘, ‘Ouija‘, ‘Paranormal Activity‘ and the ‘Insidious‘ powerhouse. The latter among these has got another installment headed our way with ‘Insidious: Chapter 4‘.

Film Review: ‘The Lazarus Effect’

by Woozie on Feb 26th, 2015

Suzanne L., Here…

Perhaps it’s just me, but it doesn’t seem like directors often follow an acclaimed documentary with a horror film. David Gelb, the director of Jiro Dreams of Sushi, did just that when taking on The Lazarus Effect, a movie by horror production company Blumhouse. With a talented cast and new take on the Frankenstein’s monster trope, Gelb creates a movie with genuine scares that missed an opportunity to delve into larger issues.

‘The Purge 3’ In Development Stage!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Oct 6th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

11173717_800

Universal, Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes are beginning development on a third visit to a world where ‘The Purge‘ is a yearly event. If you’ve been in a cave the last few years, I’ll give you the high points. March 21 at 7pm until March 22 at 7am, is the annual purge. This is 12 hours where every crime imaginable is legal, police do not respond and emergency help of any kind is only what your neighbor is willing to do for you. Most families lock themselves away from the evil that lurks just outside the door. Yes, this is the movie franchise that began scaring communities when moronic teenagers began promoting the event for Louisville, KY in what turned out to be a hoax.

Horror movies are like ants at a picnic, there will always be a few teenagers in the mix. New Line has acquired worldwide rights to the Blumhouse Prods. film ‘Superstition‘. The film is financed by Film 360 the production arm of Management 360. The film is high school-set and is similar to the ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer‘ formula with a found-footage component.

Hello, Jana here,

LeighWhannell20312

Oh, we knew the fun wasn’t dead, yet. If ‘Insidious‘ and ‘Insidious 2‘ made some cash, of course ‘Insidious: Chapter 3‘ will bring in even more! It’s the math of Hollywood. Blumhouse Productions has put the writer responsible for ‘Saw‘ and ‘Insidious‘, Leigh Whannell to direct. Whannell wrote and acted in the first two chapters of ‘Insidious‘ but will be making his directorial debut with this venture. The film is set to drop April 3, 2015.

Hello, Jana here,

creep-indie-movie

Festival season is always a great atmosphere to learn about a new band, artist or film. It can also be a great place for those independent film makers to find a distributing partner that will generate a bigger spotlight on their work. This is the case for the indie horror film ‘Creep‘. This low-budget thriller stars Patrick Brice as a videographer who answers an Craigslist ad to film a stranger (Mark Duplass) in a remote mountain town for a personal project that brings to light that the client is not at all what he initially seemed, with sinister repercussions.
