Ted Danson Joins ‘CSI’ As Series Regular!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 13th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

Two weeks ago, talks started with Ted Danson for him to take on the team leader and lead role on the original ‘CSI’ series for CBS.  Things must have gone well because now Ted Danson will star in ‘CSI’.  He will replace the role Laurence Fishburne recently had.  Danson has proved he is one hell of a likable actor and fun to watch on screen.  His work was amazing on FX’s ‘Damages’, and his work on HBO’s ‘Bored To Death’ is some of my favorite tv watching in recent memory.  I just hope he plans to have the same amount of air time on ‘Bored To Death’.  It seems like he will.  Enjoy the press release below.

‘The Mule’ – 4K UHD Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 27th, 2019

THE FILM

For the first time in more than a decade, Clint Eastwood is back starring in his own directorial effort called ‘The Mule‘, which is based on a true story about a man named Leo Sharp, who was a down-on-his luck elder man who became a very successful drug runner for the Mexican cartel. It’s a rather interesting story that had some trouble being made into a film. At one point, Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) was attached to write and direct the film, but over the course of a year or so – Clint Eastwood became involved and the rest is history. Fletcher is still credited as Executive Producer here. Eastwood tells this story with a very subtle sense of suspense. There was never any point where I felt his character was in danger or something bad was going to happen. It’s the opposite of something like ‘Breaking Bad‘ in the suspense department. Still, there is an elegant quality to Eastwood’s filmmaking that makes this story worth your while.

Favorite Movie Scene of the Day #18!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 24th, 2018

Freddy Krueger has become a household name since he debuted in A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984. The bastard son of 100 maniacs hasn’t only scared us, but has made us laugh and given us brilliant, yet cheesy one-liners over the years. When compared to the likes of other movie killers like Jason Vorhees and Michael Myers, Krueger has a big personality where he likes to taunt his victims with vicious pranks and insults that come with the best puns and wit. Instead of just chopping up people with a machete or knife, Krueger had the most inventive kills throughout his films as actor Robert Englund always portrayed this burnt up boogeyman with vigor, style, and dynamic comedy. This particular Favorite Movie Scene of the Day comes from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors from 1987.

‘Last Flag Flying’ waves over Blu-ray!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 14th, 2017

Last Flag Flying‘ is coming to Blu-ray on January 30th and will be available digitally on January 16th. The film is directed by Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some, Boyhood) and stars Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne, and is based on Darryl Ponicsan’s book of the same name. The movie focuses on three older men who all served in Vietnam together. Fast forward many years later, they are all reunited when one of their son’s has died in the Iraq war and they road trip to bury the fallen. It’s a different kind of movie for sure in Linklater’s list of movies, but he proves that he can tackle any subject, even if it isn’t as silly or fun as the above mentioned films of his. There will be audio commentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, and more included on this Blu-ray. Below is more information on the release.

Blu-ray Review: John Wick 2

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 5th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

51kbWQ1BmfL

THE FILM

Ever since Keanu Reeves jumped into the role of John Wick in 2014, we all have wanted a sequel in the worst way. Filmmakers Chad Stahelski and David Leitch created a monster of a franchise with that film that brought the action genre back to a high point. That first film had a simple story and some of the best action sequences in a long time. Some bad guys steal John Wick’s car and kill his precious puppy dog a few days after his wife dies. Not knowing John Wick is the best assassin in the world, Wick sets out on revenge and literally kills everybody. It was just so good and showed the world what everyone secretly wants to do if some jerk killed your dog. The first film had a modest budget of only $20 million, but ended up making almost $90 million, which leads us to future sequels.

Warner Bros. Wants to Remake ‘The Matrix’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 14th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

The-Matrix

Warner Bros. is at a loss for original ideas, so they are wanting to get back to 1999 when ‘The Matrix‘ was releasing, because in fact, they want to remake ‘The Matrix‘. This is a terrible idea. There are tons of original stories and ideas out there. Get after it Warner Bros. Sources close to the project have said that a remake of ‘The Matrix‘ is in the works, which isn’t necessarily new news, since we reported on this a couple of years ago. It wasn’t so much of a remake back then, but maybe an expanse on the storyline or even a sequel.

Hey guys, Jana here,

IMDB describes this film as “The continuing adventures of former hitman, John Wick.” I have a feeling that will be changing after seeing this trailer. If you’re anything like me, I’ve been waiting for this clip for as long as I’ve known they were creating a sequel. Keanu can kick ass and I love nothing more than to see that. The first official trailer for the film shows us just how much of a bad-ass Mr. Reeves is, as he’s got a contract on his head.

Pee-Wee Herman Is Coming Back To Big Screens in 2015!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Oct 22nd, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

PW-knife

Looking back at growing up in the 80’s made me realize just how surreal the whole experience really was. In remembering my childhood, there are several things that stand out more than others, Cabbage Patch Kids, Aquanet , ‘New Kids On The Block‘, cereal that had no redeeming nutritional value whatsoever besides being easy enough for a kid to serve themselves while parents slept in on Saturday mornings, and a lineup of cartoons that kept us occupied while we slowly reached sugar-induced coma levels of happiness.  That’s right, Saturday morning telly was geared toward kids. I had roughly 3 channels that broadcast what came to be the soundtrack to my childhood and some of my best memories. Every remote jockey, i.e. the oldest sibling, had the channel jump down to an art form in order to ensure that we made it to the right channel at the right time to catch the personalized lineup of cartoons that took us weeks to master. I didn’t want to wake up to go to school, but you better believe I was up at 6:30am so that I wouldn’t miss the beginning of my favorite day of television.

Film Review: ‘The Signal’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 10th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

signal21

Starting last year and heading into the year 2016, we will be bombarded with tons of sci-fi films. This is great news, people. We have seen a treasure trove of this great genre with big action blockbusters that cost upwards of $200 million and some more meager projects that cost less than a tenth of that budget, while still maintaining decent visual effects and sci-fi story lines. I could start listing some of these movies, but I’d be here for a few hours. Whether these current sci-fi films are good or bad, we are still receiving excellent characters and story arcs that dare us to think and dream.

Well it looks like Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. has an official title for the new Batman/Superman movie, which will be called ‘Dawn of Justice‘. I bet that means Dawn of the ‘Justice League‘, which Warner Bros. has been planning for quite sometime now. The film is set to open up on may 6th, 2016 and production has officially begun.
