‘Uncle Drew’ 4K UHD Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 27th, 2018

With a quick glance at the poster or film, you’d think this is just another one of the 100s of Tyler Perry films where someone dresses up as an elderly person and comedy ensues. That’s not the case with ‘Uncle Drew‘ though. Shock and awe for sure. If you’re unfamiliar with ‘Uncle Drew’, this idea came from a Pepsi commercial where a big basketball star dressed like an old man and show up the young kids on the court.

There are two kinds of people in the world: those who love Madea movies, and those who hate Madea movies. I belong to the first group and if you don’t feel the same way, why are you reading this? No, come back – keep reading! Maybe we can convert you to the cause.

Film Review: ‘TMNT2: Out of the Shadows’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 1st, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

maxresdefault

Coming off the last outing with these four lovable and iconic green characters, I wasn’t so sure about how much I was going to enjoy this sequel, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows‘ or TMNT2 for short. The last film, which was a remake had a shoddy director and filmmaker Michael Bay at the helm. Needless to say, it was all about explosions and a sexy woman walking around with almost no attention to the turtles themselves. There were about ten whole seconds of the last film that I actually enjoyed, which was the fun scene in the elevator where we saw Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, and Leonardo beatboxing like kids, and when the doors opened, they put their ninja faces on to fight Shredder. That scene really showed what these new Turtles could actually be. So I hoped I would at least get twenty seconds this time around.

Here is your ‘TMNT 2’ Trailer!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 10th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS

The trailer for ‘TMNT 2‘ or ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows‘ is here. I didn’t much like the first film, but let’s hope this sequel is a bit better. The sequel stars Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Stephen Amell, Tyler Perry, Brian Tee, Laura Linney, Sheamus, and Gary Anthony Williams and will be released June 3, 2016. In this new trailer we get glimpses of fan favorites Bebop and Rocksteady as well as the foot clan and the evil Shredder. On a visual level, the trailer looks great, but let’s all hope the screenplay is tightened and the Turtles can be themselves in this movie. Enjoy the trailer.

Dave Fincher got his start directing music videos, and one of them is my favorite, “Express Yourself.” It has that definitive gritty, dark and wonderful feeling that Fincher film has come to possess.

Broadway’s First Black Cinderella Takes Stage!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 6th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

raw_file_url

Remember the movie ‘Akeelah and the Bee‘? Akeelah is all grown up now and preparing to take her place on the Great White Way. Keke Palmer is a long way from where she began her career as a thespian and is watching her dreams come true in a whole new way, now. Palmer will be the title character in ‘Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella‘ bowing on September 9th at the Broadway Theatre. Not only is she the new lead for the show, but she takes precedence as the show’s first black Cinderella. Brandy held the same distinction when she wore the glass slippers in 1997’s TV Movie of the same name.

Hi, Jana here,

Starz is cashing in on the bankable name of NBA star LeBron James. The baller is  serving as executive producer for ‘Survivor’s Remorse‘ an original series, but that’s not the biggest news of the day. The lead roles have finally been cast for the season premiere.

Film Review: ‘Alex Cross’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 18th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘Alex Cross’ was such a let down. James Patterson’s novel or novels about a clever cop did not adapt well to this particular film.  I feel like this movie could have been 100 times better than it was.  I think it was in the wrong hands from start to finish and it just completely imploded on itself.  Maybe this will make money in the box office due to Tyler Perry’s fan-base wanting to see something completely different from the actor than what he normally does, but I don’t see people giving a second though, or really even a first thought while watching this poorly made movie.

Taylor Reviews ‘Think Like A Man’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 20th, 2012

Taylor Here….

I fully expected Think Like a Man to be Tyler Perry’s He’s Just Not That Into Your Diary of a Mad Black Woman (I’m singing “Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist” to myself right now).  I was pleasantly surprised that, while this film certainly didn’t blaze any trails, it was entertaining, well acted, and all in all a fun night at the movies.

Hi Bryan Here….

Charlie Sheen and Lionsgate have made a deal to bring the ‘Anger Management’ to television with Sheen set to star.  ‘Anger Management’ is based on the 2003 Adam Sandler/Jack Nicholson comedy.  In Sheen’s deal, he will own a considerable stake in the show.  The show will follow a “mild-mannered, non-confrontational man who is ordered to attend group anger management sessions led by a therapist who could probably use some anger management himself.”

Podcast #55 – Oscars and ‘Series 7’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 2nd, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

1424717310_oscar-winners-467

Podcast #55 is finally here, and it was a fun-as-hell show.  We did a remote podcast from the deep dark dungeons of the ‘Angelika Film Center’ this week, where we had a full house. Our own Gwen Reyes from FreshFictionTv was here along with Susan Kamyab from ThisChixFlix, Gadi Elkon from SeligFilmNews, Adam Conway from the Angelika Film Center , Andrew Conway, and myself. We discuss a few films that were released in theaters, our reactions and thoughts on the Oscars, and discussed the 2001 film ‘Series 7‘, which we highly recommend. We also Re-Cast the film if it were made today. It got crazy. And please let us know what you think by going to our FACEBOOK page and TWITTER page, which you should visit to catch up on all the latest information. And don’t forget to visit iTunes and Stitcher to subscribe to our podcast. Enjoy the show and see you next week! Thank you for listening.
