Eckhart to be Hot Again as ‘Beach Boys’ Drummer!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 17th, 2011

The Bishop Charlotte Reporting….

Excuse my language up there, but he is. Moving on.

Aaron Eckhart is set to play Dennis Wilson in The Drummer, a biopic based on the last six years of Wilson’s life. The man’s best music was written during this period; his solo masterpiece “Pacific Ocean Blue” came out shortly before his tragic and sudden death in 1983. The only Beach Boy who actually surfed, Wilson drowned in the Marina Del Rey. If it’s shown in the movie, it will probably gain similar reviews as 127 Hours – harrowing, violent images at the end while the rest of the movie is haunting and beautiful.

Echo in the Canyon – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 7th, 2019

“Echo in the Canyon is a true music buff’s utopia.”

If you’re a music buff, this new documentary called Echo in the Canyon is a must-see. Music industry maestro Andrew Slater and musician Jakob Dylan (Bob’s son and member of the Wallflowers) have given us the gift of rock n’ roll on film that focuses specifically on the mid-1960’s music revolution that catapulted acts life The Byrds, The Mamas & the Papas, Buffalo Springfield, and later years of The Beatles and The Beach Boys to success and fame.

‘US’ – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 20th, 2019

“‘US‘ is a true masterpiece in horror.”

The horror genre is something sacred and entertaining. It can be whatever you’d like it to be from something of a masked killer on the loose slashing their way through unsuspecting teenage victims to a literal hell unleashing in space to something much more quiet and unnerving like family being torn apart by a demonic entity and everything in between. Jordan Peele has crafted his own horror universe and elements and is 2/2 (so far) in drilling the nail into that horror membrane with precision and accuracy. His latest film simply titled ‘US‘ is much more than a straight out horror film, but something that makes us think about our past, present and ultimate future with each other. I’m happy to say that ‘US‘ is a true masterpiece in horror.

Classic Waxxx: “Top Ten Records of Summer”

by NapkinArt on Aug 5th, 2011

If you live in the south, especially Texas right now, you know how brutal Summer has been this year, probably one of the hottest in recent memory. Extreme drought, rolling blackouts, wild fires and dying vegetation and cattle seem to be making things quite miserable for everyone affected. From the looks of it, there is no relief in sight anytime soon. However, with that said there is no reason you still can’t enjoy the remainder of the summer. There are plenty of days left to hang out by the pool, sip on an ice cold glass or two of lemonade (or beer, if you prefer) and listen to some of the best songs ever recorded for those lazy Summer days. My favorite holiday of all time is quickly approaching. No, I’m not talking about Easter, although I do like the late Sunday lunch that is associated with it. I’m talking about Record Store Day, and if you aren’t hip to what Record Store Day is all about…shame on you.

Numerous independent music retailers across the country banded together to honor the life blood of indie record stores, teaming up with with record labels, bands and now film companies and distributors to offer exclusive releases for the hardcore fans. Read the rest of this entry »

Film Review: The Transfiguration!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 24th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

I’m just in awe at the new indie vampire film ‘The Transfiguration‘. With so many vampire films in so many sub-genres and different interpretations, it’s great to see something so original and heartfelt from first time director Michael O’Shea. I have to think that O’Shea was a big fan of the 1994 film Fresh and had a strong connection to the vampire folklore, because those two ingredients make up The Transfiguration in a new and inventive way.

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 10th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Perhaps the biggest movie of the summer and the one film to get DC and Warner Bros. back on track with their superhero films – WONDER WOMAN, is coming to 4K UHD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and DVD. Warner is sure milking this for all its worth, since they are also releasing a 3D version of the film, even though 3D is dead in the water. The 4K UHD is the way to go for sure here if you have the right equipment. You can own the movie digitally as soon as August 29th, and you’ll be able to purchase the Blu-ray, 4K, 3D, and DVD on September 19th. There are tons of bonus features as well, which I can’t wait to watch. Official information below.

Film Review: BAYWATCH!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 23rd, 2017

Dan M., here….

baywatccast

We need to get one thing straight as we start this review. Baywatch is not a movie to be judged on it’s plot. This movie exists in the same realm as Horrible Bosses, Spy, We’re The Millers, 21 Jump Street, & Neighbors. It has just enough plot so that it can get from joke to joke or gag to gag as efficiently as possible. It succeeds in this regard and has a really high “joke landing” percentage. More importantly, as a vehicle for unbelievably attractive people to let loose and be funny, Baywatch goes above and beyond. It is a showcase for these actors to show they’re really, really funny.
