I’m going to stand out here and yell it. I believe Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 film ‘2001 A Space Odyssey‘ is one of the greatest if not THE GREATEST movie of all time. I mean it doesn’t hold a candle to ‘Army of Darkness‘, because that’s in its own category of greatness, but for all other films, ‘2001 A Space Odyssey‘ is right at the top of the list. Kubrick was known for making movies in different genres, time periods, and subject matters. He never did the same thing twice. With ‘2001‘, he went to the past and jumped right into the future with perhaps the biggest time jump out of any piece of cinema.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Spielberg is a very busy man these days.  Not only is he the jury president for the upcoming 2013 Cannes Film Festival, but he working on ‘Robopocalypse‘, ‘Jurassic Park IV‘, another war series with Tom Hanks, ‘Under the Dome‘, ‘When Worlds Collide‘, amongst several other big projects. Perhaps the most interesting is that he is not developing the dream project of the late Stanley Kubrick, which is ‘Napoleon‘.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Good news, everyone.  Entertainment One is partnering up with a couple of producers to develop two of Stanley Kubrick’s never-before-used screenplays.  Those screenplays are ‘Downslope’ and ‘God Fearing Man’.  It’s as if Kubrick is still making movies from the grave.  At least I hope they find someone to mimic his vision, but I’m sure that will never happen.  But any Kubrick is good.

Hi Bryan Here….

Now most of you know I am a HUGE fan of Kubrick’ work.  Anything related to the director, I want to read, watch, and cherish.  There was a documentary that premiered at Sundance recently entitled ‘Room 237’.  It is a documentary on the Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’ movie.  Not the one made by his daughter that is shown on the DVD, but rather a different type of documentary that explores the insane conspiracy theories and subtext of the “real meaning” of ‘The Shining’.

Hi Bryan Here…

I came across the little gem which is an interview of Stanley Kubrick circa 1987.  This is when his “Full Metal Jacket was released.  It is an excellent read from one of the most reclusive film directors ever to grace us with his brilliant work.  The interview was conducted by Rolling Stone.

Climax – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 6th, 2019

There are no other motion pictures out there quite like a Gaspar Noé film. The French filmmaker only has a few movies under his belt, but they have all made a significant impact on cinema in general, including the controversial films ‘Irreversible‘, ‘I Stand Alone‘, and ‘Enter The Void‘. Noé’s latest film, which I’m going to call his latest masterpiece, is called ‘Climax‘, and is a thrilling musical journey straight into hell.

‘Pledge’ – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 8th, 2019

Not to be confused with the Jack Nicholson vehicle ‘The Pledge’, the filmmakers dropped the “the” and is simply ‘Pledge‘, which is by far the best horror/thriller this year. It will be tough to find a genre movie in 2019 that is this fast-paced, fun, and not afraid to get sticky. There are no sidebars or long tangents going on in this film, as it’s straight and to the point and has the action and terror from the very beginning in this ‘Hostel‘ meets ‘The Skulls‘ story line. In fact, I would imagine the same people that attend the ‘Eyes Wide Shut‘ party for Stanley Kubrick started out in this fraternity that is portrayed here.
