Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

static1.squarespace

So it’s been 17 years, and MGM wants to remake yet again, ‘The Thomas Crown Affair‘. This will be the third time for a remake. Do they have any original ideas? I think not. It’s not all bad news though. Michael B. Jordan (Creed, The Wire, Fruitvale Station) is signed on to star in the remake.

Hi, Bryan Here….

In what might be the best news of the day, MGM has set director Ryan Coogler along with actor Michael B. Jordan in developing a spinoff ‘Rocky‘ film called ‘Creed‘. Don’t worry, Sly Stallone will reprise Rocky again as a retired boxer, now trainer for Apollo Creed’s grandson, which will be played by Jordan. Coogler and Jordan most recently collaborated on the amazing film ‘Fruitvale Station‘, which you can read that review HERE.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Space Jam’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 27th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

THE FILM

If you grew up in the 1980s and 1990s, you probably had a Michael Jordan poster, trading card, sneaker, or action figure of one of the greatest athletes and basketball players to have ever lived. The man defied gravity, broke barriers, and even danced with Michael Jackson. Jordan “retired” from basketball to give the MLB a shot, but shortly returned to the NBA soon after that. In his hiatus from the NBA, Michael Jordan got his own film with Warner Bros. with ‘Space Jam‘, where he would star alongside the Looney Tunes in a family adventure.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Space-Jam-620x350

For years, we’ve been hearing rumors and hoping that our prayers had been answered and there was a ‘Space Jam 2‘ in the works. Time after time we’ve been let down, but this time – oh, this time is different. We have a director and a new star and a writer all on-board. Michael Jordan is not coming back to feature, but another B-ball great is ready to get on the court – LeBron James.

Warner Bros. Is Developing ‘Space Jam 2’!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Feb 24th, 2014

Jana B. here,

Space Jam

Over the weekend, a very trusted news source in Hollywood called Deadline, ran a news story that said, “Lebron James was going to star in the upcoming ‘Space Jam‘ sequel. The article mentioned producers and a studio, which was Warner Bros. A day or so later, Lebron and a couple of people on the NBA side and close to Lebron’s camp refuted the story and basically said this wasn’t happening. But the wording they used was confusing. The sources said that there have been no “substantive discussions”, which means, the deals are not made yet, however talks have happened. It seems like Warner Bros. is definitely making a ‘Space Jam‘ sequel, and they want  Lebron to star in it, but again, no deals have been made yet. In my personal opinion, I think Shaq should star rather than Lebron. Or just get Jordan back. He’s not doing anything. Below is the original story.

Looney Toons Are Returning to the Big Screen!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 20th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Warner Bros. is prepping a comeback for the Looney Toons on the big screen.  There was a Looney Toons film back in 2003 called ‘Back in Action’, and I guess with the success of the new Looney Toons cartoon series, they will be making another film.  Jenny Slate, the former SNL cast member will write the script which will be an animated/live action film.  You know, just like the last film was.

Blu-ray Review: Black Panther!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 15th, 2018

THE FILM

Going into the 18th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you’d hope you wouldn’t see the same thing over and over that we’ve been watching since Iron Man debuted a decade ago. As the years have passed on by, watching a Marvel movie became something tedious, even though most of the films are fun and enjoyable. Don’t get me wrong, Marvel has done a great job with each and every film they’ve put out, but moving into their 18th film, it seems like we’ve seen almost everything and every action scene is something recycled from the previous, whether it be superheroes jumping from car to car during car chases or aliens come out of the sky and destroying the planet. Luckily for all of us Marvel fans, ‘Black Panther‘ breathes new and creative life into a somewhat stale film series in the best ways possible.

Dan Moran’s ‘Black Panther’ Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 16th, 2018

Admittedly, the easiest narrative for Black Panther reviews is that it is a “game-changer”, “important”, “redefines hero”, etc. Those narratives and feelings aren’t wrong. I think Black Panther is one of Marvel’s best stand-alone hero films. It is right behind The Winter Soldier and the original Iron Man for me. In a few years it may even eclipse those two as the distance and impact it has going forward is felt. I believe the cultural and racial themes of this film are well thought out, focused, bold, and sobering. To be perfectly honest I don’t feel comfortable writing about that aspect of the film in depth. I’m a 32 year old goofy white guy who is not a good enough writer to navigate that territory, plus I lack the experiences that would make my take worth reading. There are some incredible writers who have written on the overall cultural impact of (essentially) an all-black cast superhero film and I encourage all of you to seek those pieces out because they are worth your time. My review is going to focus on just how badass this movie is.

Favorite Movies of 2017!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 27th, 2017

Was 2017 a great year for movies? Of course it was. There were some excellent films to be released in 2017. There were also some bad ones for sure, but the focus on this article are some of the Best films that stuck with me long after viewing. Most people will give you their Top 10 list, but this is no Top 10, because there are just so many movies that I loved and feel passionate about, that I find it difficult and unpleasing to rank them.

Instead, these are my favorite movies of 2017, which I hope you’ve seen already. If you haven’t yet, you’re in for a real treat and I can’t wait for you to see them. Some of these films are still in theaters, while some are on Netflix, 4K UHD, and Blu-ray, so you’ll be able to quickly see any of these if you haven’t. I watched over 270 movies that were released in 2017 and these are my absolute favorites. I hope you get to see all of these, because I know you’ll love them. In no particular order…..

Movie Quotes

[Gordon zaps McGrath with his hypno-belt]
General 'Bloodbath' McGrath:
What's this?
Artemus Gordon:
Why, it's a deep, deep pool. Maybe it's your old swimming hole, General. Are you feeling sleepy?
General 'Bloodbath' McGrath:
Yes, I'm sleepy.
Artemus Gordon:
Good. Now you're going to be my little doggy, and when I say "speak" you're going to tell me everything I want to know. Understand?
General 'Bloodbath' McGrath:
Woof!
Artemus Gordon:
Good boy. Now, which scientist is that in the next room? Is it Dr. Escobar? Speak!
General 'Bloodbath' McGrath:
[panting] Woof! Woof!
Artemus Gordon:
You can speak words, you stupid mutt.
