‘Green Book’ – 4K UHD Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 19th, 2019

THE FILM

(Film Review Portion Written by Beka Perlstein)

Green Book is a dramedy based on the real-life friendship between the most unusual of friends. Donald Shirley (Mahershala Ali), of The Don Shirley Trio, and “Tony Lip” Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen), a bouncer from the Copa, embark on a concert tour through the South with Vallelonga as Shirley’s driver. The name of the film is taken from the pamphlet that was published during the 1960s that informed black people of establishments that were safe for them to stay in, eat at, or stop at while traveling. That was a foreign concept to me, as well as Vallelonga in the movie, as the only time Green Book is explained is when he is made aware that there will be times the two can’t stay at the same hotels and he is provided with the book.

The John Wick Comic Book is Almost Here!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 20th, 2017

Hi  everyone, Bryan here….

JohnWick01-Cov-B-Cowan

We already knew that the comic book publisher Dynamite Entertainment had already worked a deal to bring the story of John Wick into the comic book world, but now we have a release date, writers, artists, and even some info on the story. John Wick is one of the best action films of recent memory. It spawned a recent sequel with both films making a ton of money and much critical praise. Not only does John Wick have spectacular stunt work and one hell of a story that follows a former assassin out to kill the people he once worked for, but this mysterious world John Wick is in has been living in is one that we’ve gotten glimpses of in the past two films, leaving us wanting more. This comic book will explore that world in more detail, which means more information on assassins, the hotels, and people who handle their business. I can’t wait.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Warner Bros. and DC have been tossing the turd that was ‘Green Lantern‘ around since 2011, wondering how and where do they go from here? Well, David Goyer may turn out to have the saving solution, write a new script and move forward.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Jungle Book’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 30th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

THE FILM

How many renditions have there been of ‘The Jungle Book‘? More than a dozen over the years for sure, and it seems like Disney has more than just one project of ‘The Jungle Book‘ in play at the moment, or shall I say ‘The Jungle Book‘, meaning Disney has one and Warner Bros. has one.  The first project is Jon Favreau’s version, which is a live-action film, based on Rudyard Kipling’s famous book. The film itself is stunningly beautiful, as we see in the first shot of the film, which is deep inside the jungle with the young Mowgli running and hopping through the trees. The use of 3D here was actually quite good, specifically the amount of depth it gave the film and surrounded you with all that is the jungle.

Top 10 Books That Need To Become Movies!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 10th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

bookstack

I love to be entertained, whether it’s watching a great movie, ballgame, series, listening to Led Zeppelin or reading a book, I always have at least two of them going at once. Reading gets a lot of time and attention from me, so it stands to reason that I would have a list of favorite books, not just favorites that I love to read, but favorite titles that should be given the big screen treatment.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Robert_Rodriguez

Robert Rodriguez is gifted with being able to truly mark his programs leaving no doubt as to who put the separate components together, that flair exists in ‘From Dusk Till Dawn‘, ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico‘ and ‘Desperado‘ are just a few of the pictures that jump off the screen so vividly that we forget we’re looking through a screen.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Mystery-Science-Theater-3000-silhouette

In the surge of SVOD providers rushing to produce their own original content, Yahoo is on the ready to play ball and they’re bringing a bat to the plate. ‘Other Space‘ is a half-hour comedy series created by Paul Feig exclusively for Yahoo. The series is expected to launch in the early part of next year. The series is described as a journey in unknown space set in the early 22nd century, when the human race has mapped most of the known universe, failed to find alien life, and have gotten a little tired of the whole thing. The description makes me think there will be plenty of room for some dry humor and stars that, combined, have quite a cult following to bring to the game.

In a bit of network wheeling and dealing, Netflix has made a deal for its first original movie. A sequel to a film that I didn’t think could have a continuation of, turns out I was wrong. Ang Lee’s 2000 Martial arts flick ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon‘. Not content to stop with its first original movie, the film will release simultaneously in the summer of 2015 in IMAX theaters and on the SVOD.

Amazon Announces 4 Pilots Green-lit for Series!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 13th, 2014

Hello Jana here,

 dt.common.streams.StreamServer

Amazon jumped head-first into original programming with 5 pilots that were uploaded to their site where they encouraged viewers to watch and comment their opinions. I’m guessing they got the reaction they wanted as they have now picked four of the titles to give a series order. This includes the first dramas for their fledgling, innovative line-up with ‘The After‘ and ‘Bosch‘. Their new comedy series are ‘Mozart In The Jungle‘ and ‘Transparent‘. The fifth pilot that was not picked up, ‘The Rebels‘ comes from Ice Cube and Michael Strahan. From Amazon’s first pilot season saw eight comedies going to pilot while only two were picked up for series, ‘Alpha House‘ and ‘Betas‘. Of those two, ‘Alpha House‘ has been renewed for a second season and ‘Betas‘ has been discontinued.

Tom Green Has A New Talk Show Again!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 26th, 2013

Jana B., Here…

 TomGreen1

AXS TV has been one of my favorite go to channels for in depth concert footage, MMA, comedy and even Dan Rather. They’re adding a new one hour weekly talk show hosted by none other than the pioneer of the unpredictable, himself, Tom Green. “Tom Green Live” will premiere Thursday, October 3 in the 9 PM ET time slot.

Funnyman Richard Belzer is booked as his first guest. Belzer has a long resume’ that features a 5 year stint where the jokester perfected his funny bone as a regular for ‘Saturday Night Live‘.

The show will include live video internet calls from viewers. AXS TV founding partner Mark Cuban is credited with saying “Live television works best with an element of danger and when results are unpredictable. Throughout his career, Tom has embodied the skill-set you look for in a live performer. Adding the unedited viewer element means that anything can happen. Tom Green Live was exactly the type of show I envisioned when we decided to develop the network as a vehicle to deliver the best in live entertainment.”

Tom’s antics first gained popularity with the, then, groundbreaking ‘Tom Green Show‘ on MTV. No word, yet, on if we can expect to see him jump a skateboard through a ring of fire on TV again. But one can hope.

Your thoughts?

Movie Quotes

Adele Invergordon:
Ten years and not one single, solitary word from you? You don't do that to someone you love! I deserve better, I deserve some correspondence of some indication of how you felt! Junuh, I don't know what happened to you... but whatever it was... it couldn't have been as unbearable as a woman waitin' with no end in sight... Wonderin if she's, remembered or forgotton by the man she loves... You never even said you were sorry... And now I'm supposed to just run into your arms and melt like butter on a hot muffin?
Rannulph Junuh:
I'm sorry Adele... I am, truly sorry...
Adele Invergordon:
It's too late for 'I'm sorry' Junuh!
Rannulph Junuh:
But - Then - Well, tell me what to say... It was too long ago...
Adele Invergordon:
No it wasn't... It was just a moment ago...
