Film Review: ‘Gravity’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 3rd, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

gravity-debris

If ‘Gravity‘ was the last movie I saw before I died, I would die happy. This is hands down, the best film of the year so far, and quite possibly the best film of the last several years. Alfonso Cuaron has come back with a vengeance after a seven year hiatus. Cauron directed ‘Children of Men‘ and the third ‘Harry Potter‘ film to name a couple. I know all of you have seen the trailer for this film, and let me just say, you’re in the for the most thrilling ride of your life.

The director who brought us ‘Gravity‘, ‘Children of Men‘, ‘Y Tu Mama Tambien‘, and the best Harry Potter film is now playing with the horror genre, which just excites me to the end of the Earth. You mean to tell me, that Alfonso Cuarón who has terrified us with outer space and women not having babies will take the horror genre on head first? I’m so in.

Film Review: ‘Life’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 23rd, 2017

Audrey E., here….

Screen Shot 2017-03-23 at 7.24.35 PM

Ah, the age old question: ‘Are we alone in the universe?’ In the film ‘Life,’ a diverse team of astronauts try to find a definitive answer to that query and volunteer for a daring mission to outer space. After successfully retrieving a sample from Mars, they discover a single cell organism amongst it, which could prove the existence of life outside the realm of our planet. The explorers immediately begin conducting scientific experiments on the fast developing extra-terrestrial; affectionately calling it Calvin. However, their fondness is soon erased when the creature suddenly demonstrates it’s not there to make friends, and the false sense of confidence it’s lured them into could cost them their lives.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Space Jam’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 27th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

91c84elzkol-_sl1500_

THE FILM

If you grew up in the 1980s and 1990s, you probably had a Michael Jordan poster, trading card, sneaker, or action figure of one of the greatest athletes and basketball players to have ever lived. The man defied gravity, broke barriers, and even danced with Michael Jackson. Jordan “retired” from basketball to give the MLB a shot, but shortly returned to the NBA soon after that. In his hiatus from the NBA, Michael Jordan got his own film with Warner Bros. with ‘Space Jam‘, where he would star alongside the Looney Tunes in a family adventure.

In this French Remake of Mario Bava’s 1974 film of the same name, first time Director Éric Hannezo delivers a stylish, but lackluster experience for the viewer.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are a powerhouse combination and have no problem telling a story in a world not exactly grounded by gravity as ‘Apollo 13′ can attest and Skydance is pairing them up with writer Bill Broyles for a sci-fi adaptation of Neal Stephenson’s novel ‘Seveneves‘.

Film Review: ‘Booger Red’!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 2nd, 2016

Beka P., Here….

I don’t even know where to begin in describing the strange that is Booger Red. On paper, this true crime drama is right up my alley. Native Texan director, Berndt Mader, takes on the incredibly disturbing story of the Mineola swingers club that allegedly preyed on teens and children, coaxing them into a child sex ring. It goes further to investigate the seven people who were arrested, charged, indicted, and convicted for these crimes. It focuses on the one man still in prison, Dennis Pittman.

Say what you will, but director Terrence Malick is brilliant. I love all of his films. He has a unique eye and lens that perfectly captures life and people. With films like ‘Days of Heaven‘, ‘Badlands‘, ‘The Thin Red Line‘, and ‘Tree of Life‘, you can tell that Malick is one of the better filmmakers still working today. His new film ‘Knight of Cups‘ looks beautiful, but I wish it was a mix of some sort of beer pong and LARPing. Could you imagine Malick doing something like that? I wish. Here is the new trailer for the film, which looks to have a great cast and releases March 4th.

Bryan Kluger’s Best/Worst of 2015!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 30th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

1140-mfg-2015-Readers-Choice-Best-Movie-poll-collage-promo.imgcache.rev1449178940055.web.722.414

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. 2015 was an interesting year to say the least, most of which was great. Movie-wise, I think 2015 had some excellent films filling its theaters, but of course it had some real stinkers too. Below is my list of the Best and Worst films of 2015.  I believe this year I watched over 175 new films, theatrically speaking and it was very difficult to narrow them down from 25. After some strawberry cake covered in Lucky Charms, I finally had a TOP 15, however, these films are in no particular order this year. But when you talk about the Best movies, you have to mention the worst too. My list tends to be a tad bit different from others, but hey, I’m twisted. I highly encourage you to seek out these movies – good or bad and enjoy the rest of your year.

Film Review: ‘Spectre’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 3rd, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

spectre-nbimagesopening-fbpic

The year 2015 marks the 24th ‘James Bond‘ film in the 007 franchise. It also marks the most expensive Bond film to date, which is also in the top two most expensive films ever made with a budget of over $300 million. Even in addition to that, this new 007 movie, titled ‘Spectre‘ is the longest running Bond film with a runtime of 148 minutes. With the billion dollar success and critical acclaim from ‘Skyfall‘ a couple of years ago, the studio and its executives thought it would be a good idea to go bigger and “better” on everything. That’s not always a good thing, as is the case with ‘Spectre‘, which is bloated and disappointing.

WWE: Summerslam 2015!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 24th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

screaming_taker.0

One of the biggest pay-per-views of the year is ‘Summerslam‘, only second to ‘WRESTLEMANIA‘. This ‘Summerslam‘ marks the 28th Summerslam event for the WWE Corp, and featured quite the card. There were some excellent matches throughout the night, however, some of them ended unfavorably, but each WWE superstar put on an excellent show last night even if there were some mis-steps.
