May/2019

Hi Bryan Here…..

Paramount is currently negotiating with Bruce Willis for him to play Jon Colton, the original G.I. Joe.  Paramount has been eyeing Willis for a while now to play this part.  People have said they have others in mind, but Paramount is putting all their eggs in one basket in hopes to get Willis for this role.   If  Willis and Paramount come to an agreement, then most likely he will do this role before the next ‘Die Hard’ film.  Plus Paramount is looking to announce a director soon.

Film Review: ‘The Intruder’!!

by Janet White on May 2nd, 2019

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

“The Intruder was suspenseful and sneaks up on the viewer.”

The Intruder’s opening sequence was a mix match. For what does an Audi commercial have to do with the storyline? The images of a car zooming in and out of traffic are exciting and punching though it does not establish the story or the couple. Though the cinematography was well planned and executed, the sound mixing was off in regards to levels. The songs were introduced in a manner that was jarring and distracting versus really pushing the narrative. The muting of the score and dialogue during Charlie’s rage moments were inconsistent ranging from too low to too high as well. The Intruder will remind you of the cinematic genius of Alfred Hitchcock with its villain shot angles, the use of a MacGuffin, shadow, mise en scéne, and psychological shot composition. The viewer will feel the frustration and trap of the story without question. Also, a little of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining style rears its head as well, literally. Kudos to Deon Taylor, the director!

Film Review: ‘[KIN]’!!

by Janet White on Aug 28th, 2018

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Crash. Pew Pew. Woosh. Boom. Maneuvering through the ruins of an abandoned building, KIN opens with the coolest sound mixing that I have heard and literally felt in a long time. Eli Solinski (Myles Truitt) searches for scrap metal to sell, but finds a weapon endowed with great power and a secret that will alter his life. An outsider, Eli has few friends and lost his mother at a young age. It is no wonder why he is so reserved in his demeanor. At least until you mess with his family. Hal Solinski (Dennis Quaid), Eli’s father, comes home to find Eli suspended for fighting and his elder son, Jimmy Solinski (Jack Reynor) released from prison. Can his day get better? Hey guys, Jana here,

1254973-puppet_20master_20wall

The ‘Puppet Master‘ franchise is heading back to step one with a reboot. This property is responsible for nine sequels, comic books, collector’s items and toys after its 1989 debut. This project is just the beginning of what will likely be another big franchise with additional storylines.

Hey guys, Jana here,

point-break-poster-2015-888x489

The first trailer for the ‘Point Break‘ revamp is making waves. I’m not much of a fan of remakes to begin with, but when you take a Patrick Swayze movie that isn’t old enough to need re-telling and bastardize it, I get a little huffy.

Film Review: ‘Woman in Gold’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 31st, 2015

Janet W., Here…

WOMAN IN GOLD

The Piano.  Schindler’s List. I have seen films about the Holocaust and the invasion of countries by the Nazi regime.  Along comes Woman in Gold a true story about one woman’s fight against Nazi-sympathizing Austria.  Mrs. Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren) loses her sister and within her sister’s belongings finds a postcard of Gustav Klimt’sWoman in Gold” painting.  Shortly after this find, Austria announces their intent to restore stolen artwork to their rightful owners namely the Jewish families who were robbed by the Nazis when they invaded Austria.  Randy (Ryan Reynolds) is a down on his luck attorney who failed at his solo practice.

Radcliffe and Caplan Cast In ‘Now You See Me 2’!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Nov 4th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

now-you-see-me-gallery1

Now You See Me‘ was was a 2013 film that featured four magicians answering a mysterious summons that sets the stage for their later roles as The Four Horsemen who manage to pull off a real-time robbery during a stage act. This leads to an investigation by FBI and Interpol agents. I was impressed with the movie, it was a new story with a twist, very original.

Hey guys, Jana here,

3001_the_final_odyssey_a_p_0

On the back of Syfy’s announcement to propagate more typical sci-fi fare and get away from the kitschy ‘Sharknado‘-type offerings, the network is bringing ‘3001: The Final Odyssey‘ to miniseries. Arthur C. Clarke’s novel from 1997 of the same name will give the mini it’s basis.

Rebecca S., Here…

Dear_Diary

The live action Jem and the Holograms movie has added 2 more cast members, Juliette Lewis and Molly Ringwald. Lewis is probably best known for her role in Natural Born Killers but released 2 albums with her band “Juliette & the Licks” before setting out on her solo career. Ringwald is best known for… frankly if you don’t know who Molly Ringwald is then I don’t know how to help you or your lack of pop culture knowledge. Production is already underway in LA on the film, which is based on the 1980’s Hasbro animated series about a young woman who transforms into a pop star with the help of high tech earrings and her best buds.

Luke Bracey Joins Cast of ‘Point Break’ Remake!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Feb 26th, 2014

Jana B. here,

Luke Bracey

Alcon Entertainment, the company behind the remake of yet another Patrick Swayze movie, and movie I grew up with. Both are treasonous acts and I really hoped the ‘Point Break‘ remake would lose steam and remain untouched. Sadly, that is not the case.  Gerard Butler was previously announced to star as Bodhi, Swayze’s original part. We now have a new face for Johnny Utah, the role originated by Keanu Reeves. Luke Bracey (‘G.I. Joe Retaliation‘ and ‘Monte Carlo‘) has been announced as the newest cast member.

Jana B., Here…

from-dusk-till-dawn

I get really sad when excellent film makers make really substandard movies, or in the case of Robert Rodriguez, entirely unoriginal tv shows. The show I’m lamenting is a TV version of From Dusk Till Dawn. It COULD be a good idea. When you have something as epic as the movie already in your stable, why turn that into a series? If you’re Robert Rodriguez, you’re hoping your fan base will follow the series to your new El Rey Network which is set to go live this December. Rodriguez is directing the first 2 episodes of the vampire blood-fest.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Terminator-terminator-9683150-1024-576

Well, the deal has finally been made. Skynet will go live in 2015 and send Terminators to kill us all.  I kid. I kid. But, Paramount has finally greenlit a trilogy of new rebooted ‘Terminator‘ films, with the first movie releasing June 26th, 2015. That’s two summers away. Megan Ellison, who is the daughter of a multi billionaire, got into the film producing business three years ago and has a pretty successful track record already. She purchased the rights to ‘Terminator‘ in 2011 for over $20 million and now has a three picture deal.

Sad News: Comedy Central Cancels ‘Futurama’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 22nd, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

ff_futurama3_630

Bad news, everyone.  Comedy Central has decided not to renew ‘Futurama‘ and will have its last episode on September 4th.  The final 13 episodes will start airing on June 19th and will be the 2nd half of the 7th season.  This is unfortunate, as this Emmy winning series was amazing.  Yes, it had seven seasons, but how many times has this been cancelled? I know there is a huge fanbase for the show and is smarter than 95% of what people watch currently. I just don’t get it.
