Oct/2019

Hi Bryan Here….

It seems like Nick Nolte is getting tons of roles these days.  Glad to see his career is picking back up again.  He is set to star in ‘Gangster Squad’ directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, 30 Minutes Or Less).  “Nolte will play Bill Parker, the new chief of police in Los Angeles, and the first in a awhile who hasn’t been corrupted by Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn). The chief, a Purple Heart recipient at Normandy, is the one who starts the Gangster Squad, a crack team designed to bring down organized crime. Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone, Mireille Enos and Anthony Mackie star.”

‘The Mule’ – 4K UHD Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 27th, 2019

THE FILM

For the first time in more than a decade, Clint Eastwood is back starring in his own directorial effort called ‘The Mule‘, which is based on a true story about a man named Leo Sharp, who was a down-on-his luck elder man who became a very successful drug runner for the Mexican cartel. It’s a rather interesting story that had some trouble being made into a film. At one point, Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) was attached to write and direct the film, but over the course of a year or so – Clint Eastwood became involved and the rest is history. Fletcher is still credited as Executive Producer here. Eastwood tells this story with a very subtle sense of suspense. There was never any point where I felt his character was in danger or something bad was going to happen. It’s the opposite of something like ‘Breaking Bad‘ in the suspense department. Still, there is an elegant quality to Eastwood’s filmmaking that makes this story worth your while.

Betty Boop Begins Relationship With Simon Cowell!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 15th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

simon-cowell-betty-boop

If you heard Simon Cowell say she could be the biggest diva he’s ever worked with, who would you think he’s talking about? The music world is full of divas and I’m sure he’s seen more than his share of them during ‘American Idol’. Any singer you named would probably not be the right one. Cowell’s quote is this “Betty, I’ve worked with some serious divas but I think you could be the biggest of them all!” What Betty is he talking to? Why Betty Boop, of course!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 4th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

original

‘We’ve written about the possibility of a ‘Zombieland‘ sequel before, and even it becoming a tv series, which was the original intention of the original before it became a feature film. Well now, Amazon is looking to develop the new series based on the hit movie. They are in talks right now with Sony for the rights to the project. The project is expected to be a 30 minute comedy horror series with either a pilot episode first or a full on series.  Either way, I’m happy about this.

Film Review: ‘Gangster Squad’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 10th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

gangster-squad_2012-en-2-1280x851

Gangster Squad‘ lacks depth, character, and mild storytelling, but with its amazing cast of actors, over-the-top violence, and cartoony vibe, I left the theater highly entertained.  Instead of playing out like a true noir gangster film from the 40s, director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) has gone the route of making this gangster film like and R rated ‘Dick Tracy‘ mixed with a Saturday morning cartoon, which isn’t necessarily bad, but instead of getting story and character, we get blood and guts.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Sean ‘Spicoli’ Penn is currently in final negotiations to play a fairly big role in Ben Stiller’s remake of ‘ The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty’ for 20th Century Fox.  Ben Stiller will be starring in the film as well as directing.  Penn is talking with the studio about playing the role of a photographer.   Stiller plays the timid magazine photo manager who goes off on an escapade to find a missing negative. Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Shirley MacLaine and Patton Oswalt also star.

Hi Bryan Here….

‘Zombieland’ wandered into our hearts two years ago and has proven after each viewing that ‘Zombieland’ is one of the top zombie films ever.  There has been much talk of a sequel at some point down the road, but nothing has been finalized or set in stone, however all the actors want to come back and do a sequel.  Now rumors are circulation that a movie sequel won’t happen. but rather a half hour series of ‘Zombieland’.  Primetime networks should take notice on how well ‘Walking Dead’ is doing over on AMC.

Bryan Finds ’30 Minutes or Less’ Outrageously Funny!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 10th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

’30 Minutes or Less’ is one of those movies you will laugh so hard that your entire body will hurt after watching the film.  Ruben Fleischer directed ’30 Minutes or Less’.  His previous film was the horror comedy hit ‘Zombieland’ with Jesse Eisneberg.  After ‘Zombieland’ made tons and tons of money, Fleischer was pretty much offered every mega budget film in Hollywood.  He turned them all down to direct this very small comedy.  Not sure why he chose to do this, but it is indeed hysterical.  This movie does not succeed in its story plot, but rather its knee slapping comedic dialogue between the actors.  This is one of those films you will be quoting for days and remember at inappropriate moments and just burst out laughing from a piece of the dialogue.  Great little film ’30 Minutes or Less’ is.  Definitely recommend seeing it.

Hi Bryan Here….

WOW.  This was a mighty mighty fun blu-ray set to get through.  Took a while as there are hours and hours of extras and commentaries to listen and watch.  It was great watching all of these again.  Some greater than others.  I haven’t watched all of the Superman films since that tin DVD box set came out several years ago.  Oh man do these newly remastered blu-rays look fucking beautiful in HI-DEF.  So, this particular review will be set up by film.  I will go through all eight discs of the set and outline everything you would ever want to know about them.  From the movie itself to the extras and the audio and video quality.  This is one hell of a set and Warner Bros. and DC went above and beyond the call of making one AWESOME home video release in Superman.
