Hey guys, Jana here,

CMH4E6zUMAAoe0w

Bradley Cooper stars as Chef Adam Jones, the chef with two-star Michelin rockstar with all the bad habits that accompany the title. He burned bridges and forged new paths by doing everything his own way, his only goal creating a new and thrilling taste explosion. Just like every bad boy turns good story, he’s trying to turn things around in his drive for a third star and he travels home to London to recruit the best of the best professionals ever in order to achieve it.

With the networks rolling out their fall lineups, it was expected to find a few little gems to give us some surprise, and CBS achieved that in spades. ‘Limitless‘ is a new series based on the 2011 film of the same name. While the premise of cultivating a series based on a fairly well-received film is not a new idea, having the star from the film carry the series might be, but when the star in question is Bradley Cooper, it’s a shock to the lineup.

Bradley Cooper is in a unique position as the star of Clint Eastwood’sAmerican Sniper, the film brought even more focus onto Cooper and his star power his at a pinnacle, Warner Bros. is doing all they can to keep him happy by buying the movie rights to a book that won’t even be released until February of 2016. Cooper is set to produce and possibly star in ‘Orphan X‘ by Gregg Hurwitz.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Serenaposter

Today has been a hot day for trailer release and it’s not over yet. I’ve written in past months about the Ron Rash novel titled ‘Serena‘ that was getting a film treatment starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. I’ve talked the book up to anyone with ears when I spied the opening. I’m officially on the JLaw bandwagon of love and knew she would be able to play the iron-willed, determined, steely leading role.

Hey guys, Jana here,

bradley-cooper1

The entertainment world goes through fads, just like fashion. One day we’re inundated with talking sea animals from every animated company, the next day it’s all about bugs. Right now, culinary genius is taking center stage.

The Weinstein Company began production today on ‘Adam Jones‘. This pic puts Bradley Cooper (‘Silver Linings Playbook‘) and Sienna Miller (‘GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra‘) together and adds a little spice making Cooper a bad-boy Michelin chef who has to change his ways. The project was originally called ‘The Chef‘ until  ‘Chef‘, Jon Favreau’s tale of a chef who loses his restaurant and hits to the road in a food truck piecing his life, and his family, back together along the way. Obviously this can’t work in the film industry an agreement was made and a change of title followed.

Bradley Cooper to play ‘The Elephant Man’!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 23rd, 2014
Jana B. here,

Elephant Man

Bradley Cooper is the Sexiest Man Alive. It’s easy to see how legions of fans fall for his rugged, classic good looks.  He just received his second Oscar nomination in the last 2 years for his role in ‘American Hustle‘ and last year from ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘. Cooper is turning his attention back to Broadway, now. It has been eight years since he starred with Julia Roberts and Paul Rudd in 2006’s ‘Three Days of Rain‘. The reason he is returning to the stage is to headline a revival of Bernard Pomerance’sThe Elephant Man‘. Cooper will play John Merrick,  the seriously deformed man John Hurt portrayed in the 1980 film version and Cooper, himself played in 2012 at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Where the film was heavy on prosthetic SFX, the stage production is devoid of any such prosthesis. The deformity is to be shown through physical acting alone.

What better way to come back from a mini-vacation than to have some awesome news? Even better than that is to have some awesome news and a brand new trailer! I’m talking about ‘Serena‘. The novel by Ron Rash is one of my absolute favorites. Of course, I didn’t even read the novel until I heard they were taking the book and adapting it to a film as a vehicle for Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. I love to read and I love to watch movies. I’m always going to be the person that reads the book first, then pick apart the movie after.

‘A Star Is Born’ Dissection!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 9th, 2018

I lack the energy and patience to really give a deep dive into A Star is Born. I think the movie is a glorious mess. The first hour is fantastic and then it really loses focus on what it wants to say/do/or be and so it throws a ton of things at the wall before catering to the “This is Us-ification” of current storytelling to force tears from the crowd.

All I wanted to do here is dissect why the most beautiful moment of the movie earned everyone involved their inevitable nominations. I’m not sure anyone will talk about A Star is Born two years from now unless they are directly referencing this scene.

Film Review: ‘A Star Is Born’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2018

It’s not surprising that ‘A Star Is Born’ underwent the fourth rebirth with remakes on the rise. The latest version released in 1976 starred Barbra Streisand, but the 1954 version featuring Judy Garland arguably reigns supreme. Perhaps the track record this story has with the academy drove the motivation (2 out of 3 winning Oscars) or maybe this was an opportunity to introduce a classic to a younger audience. Whatever the case, Bradley Cooper had quite the task of not only acting in and directing ‘A Star Is Born’, but presenting this familiar narrative in a refreshing way. Yet in true underdog fashion, he may have just produced the best picture of the year.

4K UHD Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 16th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

THE FILM

First off, my favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe film is ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘. I love the weird, oddball, and sometimes anti-hero characters so much, the dialogue, and the feel of the whole movie, that I really connected to it and enjoyed it on every level. This group of heroes are not the norm and I relish in all their conflicts, endearing moments, and witty banter. That brings us to Vol. 2 that reunites all of our favorite characters as they go on missions to save the galaxy.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is coming to 4K UHD!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 13th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

I can’t believe it’s finally happening. Disney is releasing their first 4K UHD release with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which couldn’t be a more perfect debut release in the new format. Disney has been holding out for a while now, while other studios have been releasing their new and vintage films in 4K. It was only a matter of time. There will be Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos included on the release as well, along with quite a few fun bonus features. You’ll be able to watch the film on digital platforms, starting August 8th, and purchase the actual 4K UHD Disc on August 22nd. So now I’m impatiently waiting for Disney to start announcing some vintage vault films and shows, re-releasing in 4K UHD. It’s only a matter of time, but expect my wallet to dwindle down with the following announcements.

A project that can certainly fall into the category of longest gestating reboots is ‘The Crow‘. Since 2008, the plans have been in in the works for a re-imagining of the 1994 film, which itself was based on a comic book series in the late 1980’s by James O’Barr. There were dozens of actors attached to the lead role of Eric Draven from Bradley Cooper to Norman Reedus with a lot of stops in between. The man we’ll see take on the undead vigilante role is officially Jason Momoa!!

Film Review: ‘War Dogs’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 19th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

thumbnail_24172

War Dogs‘ looks good on paper and the trailer for the film sells the movie’s comedy and fun moments. It seemed like the perfect project for director Todd Phillips (‘The Hangover’ trilogy, ‘Road Trip’, ‘Old School’) as he reunites with Bradley Cooper and adds Jonah Hill and Miles Teller to this story, based on true events about two school friends who love to smoke up and run guns for the government – some of which might be illegal. This is a very different film for Phillips from what we’re used to, and unlike the trailer, the film isn’t all that funny. Sure, there are some moments of small laughter here and there, due to Jonah Hill’s character, but the rest is Phillips’ wink to a mix of gangster movies, including ‘Scarface’, ‘Goodfellas’, ‘Casino’, and even a bit of ‘Drive’.

More ‘Wet Hot American Summer‘ is coming to Netflix in 2017 with eight new episodes, and is subtitled ‘Ten Years Later‘. I guess they are really going to abide by that scene in the original film where everyone discusses meeting back up ten years later, and then trying to actually schedule a time and date. It was pretty funny. This last series of episodes was entitled ‘First Day of Camp‘ where the original film was set on the last day of summer camp.

The first soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy, so this one has to up the ante. Plus new cast members including one suave, charming dude that wasn’t at all shy about kicking a chick’s ass in ‘The Hateful Eight‘, that’s right – Kurt Russell. Film Review: ‘Burnt’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 27th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Screen Shot 2015-10-27 at 2.01.41 PM

Perhaps enough time has passed since Jon Favreau’s hit film ‘Chef‘ graced theaters for a new movie that has a lot of similarities to stand on its own. Then again, maybe it doesn’t. Originally, ‘Burnt‘ was actually titled ‘Chef‘, but of course had to change titles, but the story still remained in tact from director John Wells and writer Steven Knight (‘Locke‘). Billed as a comedy film with a chef played by Bradley Cooper, ‘Burnt‘ is like the steely ice cold, unfunny, heartwarming version of ‘Chef‘, which if you look at the bigger picture here, what’s really the point?

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are this generation’s Doris Day and Rock Hudson, Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks – whatever you want to call them, they’re brilliant! Director David O. Russell has taken an obvious notice of this and continues to cast the pair in his films to rousing success. Then again, that’s a Russell standard, he finds actors he likes and he sticks with them. In this case, Robert DeNiro is another who has worked with him in the past that appears in ‘Joy‘. Under Russell’s direction, each of the actors has been nominated for an Academy Award for their performances, with JLaw winning for ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘.

David O. Russell has  found a formula that works and he’s sticking to it. That combination is featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper together, throw in Robert De Niro and you have a partial cast list for the foursome’s latest endeavor ‘Joy‘. The group came together successfully in ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ then minus DeNiro for ‘American Hustle‘. Lawrence won an Academy Award for Silver Linings, so it makes sense to hope for big things from this picture.

Film Review: ‘Aloha’!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 29th, 2015

Janet W., Here…

aloha

I am saying “Aloha” to Aloha, but it’s not a hello.  It’s a disappointing goodbye.  Aloha begins with the return to Hawaii of Brian Gilcrest (Bradley Cooper), a former soldier that suffered a horrendous missile attack.  This fact is hard to believe since Cooper is inconsistent in his performance of this impairment.  One minute Gilcrest is somewhat struggling as he walks and the next minute he is effortlessly able to lollygag along the street in a love montage.  Due to his shady history of embezzlement, Gilcrest is assigned a military watchdog Captain Allison Ng (Emma Stone).  Captain Ng is hyper, anal, dry, and in love and proud of Hawaii and her ¼ Hawaiian heritage.  She also greatly admires Gilcrest for his achievements in space, technology, physics or something.  His expertise is not really clear in the film.  During Gilcrest’s previous time in Hawaii he fell in love with Tracy Woodside (Rachel McAdams).  Gilcrest suddenly left Woodside hanging.  What will happen when he sees her again and she him?

Actor Bradley Cooper was cast as real life Navy SEAL Chris Kyle who is one of the most decorated SEAL in US History with a confirmed 160 kills in the recent war as a sniper. He is responsible for saving many US soldier’s lives. Shortly after Cooper signed on to star, David O’Russell (‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ and ‘American Hustle‘) wanted to direct, which would have made sense, because Cooper and O’Russell worked together before. But he dropped out and and Steven Spielberg signed on to direct ‘American Sniper‘. But yet again, Spielberg dropped out, leaving this project in limbo.

Jana’s Best/Worst of 2014!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 15th, 2014

It’s been a big year for the entertainment world. Netflix’s initial push to bring movie-theater worthy films straight to streaming customers and bypassing the big screen altogether set off a chain of deals that will take those fresh releases and push them directly into homes allowing us to bypass a $15.00 soda, but denying us the $20.00 popcorn you can only get at the theater. Then came the deluge of series and movies being made for exclusive run with everyone from Netflix, Amazon to Crackle and everything in between. Top that off with the huge breach of privacy Sony experienced. New releases were flooded onto P2P sharing sites and private emails from the film company’s big wigs that show us how the infrastructure of Sony really works, not to mention what those involved really think of some of their superstars.

Bryan’s Film Review: ‘American Hustle’!!

Hi, Bryan Here….

Formally titled ‘American Bullshit‘, director David O. Russell has generated a lot of buzz for this film over the last few months. Coming off his Oscars for ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ and ‘The Fighter‘, you might think ‘American Hustle‘ might be on par with his previous two films. While this movie is indeed great, it lacks any sort of depth or meaning that  Russell has embraced in his previous efforts. But what he lacks in depth and meaning, he makes up ten fold in acting, characters, and insanity. I have no doubt that this 1970’s comedy con-artist film will wow audiences with its comedy and sex appeal, but don’t expect a “think piece” here. With tons of other choices this holiday season, it’s difficult to say how this will do at the box office, but with an A-List cast and the amount of hype this has, I imagine decent returns.

Film Review: ‘The Hangover III’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 23rd, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

the-hangover-3-wide

I’m not quite sure why ‘The Hangover III‘ was called ‘The Hangover III’. The first two films actually dealt with four friends having an epic hangover and their crazy exploits and adventures. This third installment doesn’t even include a hangover and oddly leaves a lot of the comedy at the front door and focuses instead on violence, murdering animals, and action sequences. I’m sure this will score a giant box office reward for its opening weekend, but bad word of mouth should prevent this third and final act from making any more money past the next couple of days.

Film Review: ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 27th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

url-1

Director Derek Cianfrance is one of the better filmmakers today. Even this being his third feature film, he has consistently shown that he has what it takes to make a powerful and character driven film each time so far.  ‘The Place Beyond the Pines‘ is an intense look at the effects of certain actions passed on from father to son over the course of 15 years, and while this story packs a punch, it also fails to be told in the smoothest way as each act of the film is a different time with a different lead that changes direction too suddenly to keep a lucid flow.  However, this indie film might garner enough attention and box office success from its cast, which consists of Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper.

Hi, Bryan Here….

globes-drink

The Golden Globes were last night and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler killed it. They were amazing.  Even former president Bill Clinton showed up to talk about Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln‘.  Even though I really liked the film ‘Argo‘, I was shocked when it won best film and director for Ben Affleck. I was happy to see ‘Django Unchained‘ win for best supporting actor for Christoph Waltz and screenplay for Tarantino. If this is any pre-cursor to the Oscars, I’d be completely let down if ‘Argo‘ takes it all.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great film, but not the best film of the year.  I expect it to and want it to win the best adapted screenplay.  Just my opinion.  Below are the full results from last night’s show.

The Oscar Nominations Are In!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 10th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…..

oscar_statues-4_3_r560

Earlier this morning, Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone announced the Oscar nominations, which MacFarlane came across as pretty funny.  I’m excited for him to host the Oscars this year.  And, his film ‘Ted‘ actually got nominated. How cool is that?  Below is the full list of Oscar nominations.  Let us know what you think.  We will be posting a separate article soon on Oscar snubs, because believe me, there are many.  And don’t forget, we will be doing our annual LIVE OSCAR COMMENTARY, which will mark the 6th time we have done it.  It promises tons of laughs.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The nominations came in this morning and needless to say, I went into a fit of rage.  I mean I was so mad, I almost wrote a letter.  After going through the list of nominees, while some of the noms were well deserved, many were not, especially in the FILM categories.  There needs to be a serious uprooting process at the Golden Globes where everyone involved in voting needs to be replaced by others who know what they’re doing.

Film Review: ‘Silver Linings Playbook’

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 16th, 2012

FedMex Here….

The last time that we saw David O. Russell’s work on screen was just two years ago in the incredibly acclaimed “The Fighter.”  Russell had shown us the heartbreaking tale of a talented used to be who fell into the thralls of addiction while his younger brother struggled to become a prize fighter.  This year, we are treated to a tale again of characters who are a little removed from the norm and plagued by their own uncontrollable conditions.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The Toronto Film Festival is coming up quickly and it looks like it is going to be one for the books.  ‘Looper’ is going to open up the festival with several other centerpiece films that strike my fancy.  Two of them include Joss Whedon’s Shakespeare film ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, and Terrence Malick’s new film, ‘To The Wonder’.  Can’t wait.  Below is the official press release.  Who’s going? Piers Handling, CEO and Director of TIFF, and Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, made the first announcement of films to premiere at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival. Films announced include titles in the Galas and Special Presentations programmes. The announced films include 17 Galas and 45 Special Presentations, including 38 world premieres.

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 7th, 2011

A ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Sequel Might Happen!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 21st, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

Director David Wain recently sat down with Jeff Goldsmith for a Q & A session and they talked about the upcoming tenth anniversary of that cult comedy instant classic ‘ Wet Hot American Summer’.  When discussing the anniversary, Wain said that Universal won’t release a 10th Anniversary edition of the film.  Universal is stupid to not do this.  This movie has such  an all-star cast which were all almost unknowns at the time.  They included: aul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooperand Elizabeth Banks as well as Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Ian Black, A.D. Miles, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Molly Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Zak Orth, Margurerite Moreau, Judah Friedlander and Michael Showalter who co-wrote the script along with director David Wain (”Role Models,” “Children’s Hospital”).

Hi Bryan Here….

The sequel to the hit comedy ‘The Hangover’ is out in all theaters and is definitely funny, but with a price.  I know most of you have seen the sequel already and yes I am late getting this review out, but I have had tons of things going on.  But alas, the review is here.  First thing to know about ‘The Hangover Part II’ is that you will most definitely laugh wildly all the way through the film.  The second thing you need to know about ‘The Hangover Part II’ is that it is the exact same film as the first ‘Hangover’ movie to a tee, except it takes place in Thailand rather than Vegas.

Bryan’s Most Anticipated Films for 2011!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 7th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…

So 2010 is over and 2011 has just begun.  I was recently talking with a friend and we both agreed that 2010 was kind of a let down as far as movies went.  Don’t get me wrong, there were some precious gems riddled throughout the year, but they were not many.  Basically I said, that it was a very uncool year with flashes of coolness in regards to films.

Bryan Here…

Earlier today, it was reported that the Mel Gibson cameo as a tattoo artist in the upcoming sequel to The Hangover was cancelled.  This was caused by certain actors and crew members and friends of the producers protesting Mel’s involvement.  Supposedly Zach Galafianakis was the ring leader in this.

So as quick as lightning strikes, there is a replacement for Mel’s role as the tattoo artist.  The character calls for somebody who is completely CRAZY and somebody who you would be scared to talk with.

The man taking on the role now is Liam Neeson.  Yes a Jedi will be in the Hangover sequel.

Hangover star Bradley Cooper had a hand in getting his A-Team co-star the gig for this movie.

Can’t wait to see Liam pull this character off.

What do yall think?

Mel Gibson Will Have Cameo in The Hangover Sequel

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 19th, 2010

The troubled star whose agency dropped him a while ago, will get another stab at his move career.

Gibson will play  a tattoo artist in the upcoming Hangover sequel.  Filming will be on the Warner Bros. Lot where a Bangkok set has been built since the movie will be taking place in Thailand.  The film will shoot on location in Thailand after a few weeks of shooting on the Warner lot.

“The Hangover” will follow the gang, played by Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zack Galifianakis and Justin Bartha, as they take a boys’ trip to Thailand with a dangerous stop in Bangkok. Asian gangster Mr. Chow, played by Ken Jeong, will also return.

Mike Tyson’s career was boosted by his role in the 1st Hangover film.  He image went from troubled drug user to comedic actor.  I wonder if the same will be said for Gibson.

I’ve always liked Mel as an actor.  I do look forward to his cameo role in this and I hope he gets his guest starring role on AMC’s Mad Men next season.

Film Review: ‘Spy’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 4th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

melissa-mccarthy-spy-wallpapers_1074008723

Director Paul Feig and actress Melissa McCarthy make one hell of a team. Since ‘Bridesmaids‘, this duo have struck box office gold. It seems like Feig loves putting McCarthy in very similar roles, particularly a character who works for law enforcement or some government intelligence agency. In ‘Bridesmaids‘, McCarthy’s character was a CIA analyst who had the codes for all the nukes. In ‘The Heat‘, she was a hardcore Boston police officer and detective.
