Film Review: ‘Triple 9’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 26th, 2016

Beka P., Here…

maxresdefault

Hold onto your seats! Triple 9 is a non-stop action-packed film that definitely delivers. Within the first ten minutes you are sucked into a high intensity bank heist that rolls right into one of the best get away scenes I’ve seen in a long time. It’s so intense that you aren’t really sure where the rest of the movie is going to go, but have no fear, there’s plenty of nail biting left to do.

Arnold Schwarzenegger tells us repeatedly that he’ll be back. Back to what is the question now, and the answer – is everything. This is one guy that is not content to sit back and rest on his body of work, but is continually adding to it.

The Triple Frontier is a geographical location where the Iguazu and Parana rivers converge at a border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. The location has become a popular backdrop for high-action, military fare. It was the backdrop for episodes of ‘NCIS‘, ‘The Unit‘, and 2006’s ‘Miami Vice‘. Now Paramount is making ‘Triple Frontier‘, a feature film penned by Mark Boal.

This is our inaugural episode our new brand of podcast called ‘Wrestling is Everything is Wrestling‘ or WEW for short, which is part of the Boomstick Comics brand on the Multi-Media Men Podcast label. That was a mouth full. Tom Nix, Bryan Kluger, and Mike Purtill get in the ring and discuss all the good things in wrestling this week, and not just from the WWE, but also from NXT, NJPW, PWG, and even the CWC. Well, let me back-track on that one second. Mike Purtill was not on this podcast, because he was on assignment, attending The Battle of Los Angeles with Pro-Wrestling Guerrilla. Instead, we had a very special guest join us from Austin, TX, named Tyler Mager, who is not only a big wrestling fan, but works for FloSports, which is a cool company that brings you the sports you wouldn’t necessarily see on television from around the world.  We discuss Kevin Owens becoming the Universal WWE Champion, Triple H’s return, The Miz taking on Dolph Ziggler, and much much more.  This was such a fun show and we hope you enjoy!

A Triple Threat WWE Multi-Media Men Podcast Broke Out!

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Reigns_TripleH

And just like Tom Nix stated, “We are on the Roman to Wrestlereignia.” All the pun intended. This is yet another fun-as-hell episode of the Multi-Media Men podcast of the WWE variety where myself, Tom Nix, and Angelic Heel, discussed WWE RAW this week and the matches that will take place at Wrestlemania 32 in Dallas, TX. We talk about what WWE Creative should desperately do with Roman Reigns to have the WWE Universe start to enjoy him, as well as talk about Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar fighting to the death. We also chat about Charlotte and her dad Ric Flair, Shane MacMahon’s return, and all the booty that is The New Day. Hell, even Virgil gets mentioned. We periscoped the episode live as too, which was a lot of fun. Let us know your predictions for Wrestlemania 32.

Angelic Heel once again…

The road to Wrestlemania never looked so bleak as it does now for all those loyal members of the WWE Universe that have proudly Bought In. Pittsburgh, PA was the scene of one of the most brutal unjustified beatings I have witnessed. RAW came to us live from the Steel City and was filled with its typical hard hitting action and more Intercontinental Championship shenanigans, but it was all darkened by the actions of one man, Randy Orton. The most exciting event in American television is coming up this Sunday, and I’m a little concerned that some of you are going to make the wrong choice. Sure, Season 6 of “Mad Men” premieres, but that’s not the right call. The correct choice is to pony up and order Wrestlemania 29 on pay-per-view. Unfortunately, I’ve hit a lot of dead ends trying to spark Wrestlemania conversations. So I’ve compiled this helpful list, breaking down the featured matches at the Showcase of the Immortals by the television show you should forego watching in order to truly soak in the Show of Shows.

DIFF Film Review: ‘Berlin Syndrome’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 4th, 2017

Beka P., here….

berlin-syndrome

Intense. Berlin Syndrome is hold onto your seat, bite your nails, cover your face- intense. The premise of this film may seem far-fetched to some, but it happens more than we would like to accept. The film follows a young Australian photographer, Clare, as she travels to Berlin and meets a handsome stranger, Andi. She ends up going home with him, and by morning she has become a prisoner in his home. The best part about this film compared to other films that have addressed abductions or the relationships between captives and captors is how it unfolds. The beginning of the film, while somewhat slow, is paralleled to how Clare realizes she’s trapped. And then it hits you, as it hits her, and there’s no going back.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Hocus Pocus’ 25th Anniversary!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 2nd, 2018

It’s hard to believe that this film has been out for 25 years. ‘Hocus Pocus‘ had a strange story to it in that it’s a Halloween film from Disney that was released in the middle of Summer in 1993 against the movie ‘Free Willy‘. It stood no chance whatsoever and only made a little bit more than its budget. That being said, over the past two decades, ‘Hocus Pocus‘ has become a strong cult film amongst adults and kids alike where cosplayers and fans still celebrate this movie to this day with giant fandom. Say what you will about this movie, it’s always impressive that a movie that was virtually disliked by a ton of professionals and didn’t make money when it came out, but has become super successful for twenty years and counting is nothing short of a miracle.

Film Review: ‘Mile 22’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 16th, 2018

Mile 22 is a movie where John Malkovich (in a weird hairpiece) looks straight into the camera and says, “He’s not a double agent…He’s a triple agent!” That pretty much sums up the quality of this latest collaboration between Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg. It is loud, full of action, and constantly twists itself in stupid knots trying to be more than a fun summer blockbuster.

Mile 22 opens with a decently long prologue of a team known as ‘Overwatch’ (no relation to the video game), led by Mark Wahlberg infiltrating a Russian sleeper cell home in a suburban town. Wahlberg’s on the ground team consists of Lauren Cohan and Ronda Rousey. In the sky, there is John Malkovich and a group of computer nerds watching every aspect of the operation. There are also two males on Wahlberg’s team which I will address in a minute. This opening sequence is really, really well done, It has a lot of tension and the suspense builds and builds through the final moments. Despite my enjoyment of the scene overall they still went out of their way to show that ‘Overwatch’, which is allegedly the best of the best and doesn’t exist, is also really terrible at their job because all the planning and technology advantages they still let some 20-year-old guy get the drop on the two male members of ‘Overwatch’ killing them.

I even tried to get a match on my dog, Duke, aka John Wayne, but there’s not recognition for pets, yet. Wrestlemania 34 is less than 6 months away with Survivor Series and Royal Rumble just around the corner. I do believe that the goal is to have Brock Lesnar in the main event at Wrestlemania 34 with the title in hand. I also believe he aims to lose that title on April 8, 2018 as well. Just not to the usual suspects (Reigns, Strowman, Joe).

The world of pro-wrestling has been around for many years and has certainly seen its ups and downs, most noticeably being the WWE. There have been many promotions through the decades, which have made a lot of people very successful and it continues to this day. At some point down the road though, there was one company that surpassed everyone by leaps and bounds and brought the pro-wrestling arena into the mainstream. Of course I’m talking about World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), or the artist formally known as World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in its teenage angst years. For a long while, there were two major companies that featured the best of the best in the pro-wrestling world. WWE and WCW. They didn’t play well together at all on and off screen.

Blu-ray Review: The Lion King Signature Series!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 29th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

THE FILM

I remember when this came out in the cinema.  I was totally and utterly infatuated with this film.  I loved everything about ‘The Lion King’. I loved the characters, the animation, the music, and the story.  It was unbelievable when I first saw it at the age of 13.  Now I am almost 36, and the film still makes me feel like I did when I first saw it.  I am still completely in awe of ‘The Lion King’. Six years after the big Diamond Edition of the Blu-ray, which included 3D, we now have the Signature Collection of the film, which has some new bonus features, along with some older ones. The audio and video presentations seem to be the same transfers.

Netflix’sBlack Mirror‘ debuted way back in 2011. A more innocent time because we didn’t have deep, lurking fears about technology and how it could do anything but improve our daily life. Then came Charlie Brooker and the anthology series that has forced me, at least, to cover all the cameras on my devices with tape or sticky tack. by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 1st, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

THE FILM

Back in 2003, we got a different kind of Christmas movie with ‘Bad Santa‘. It was full of vulgarity, sex, drugs, and alcohol. Not exactly your typical holiday spirit Christmas film. However, it was damn funny with some excellent witty dialogue and even had a bit of heart and soul to it, and cemented Billy Bob Thorton’s anti-hero Santa into cult status. If your new to the ‘Bad Santa‘ story, it follows a bank robbing duo who dress up as Santa and his elf and rob department stores on Christmas.

The road to Wrestlemania is officially underway as the 2017 Royal Rumble has a winner. Perhaps the second biggest WWE event of the year, the winner of the Rumble goes on to the main event of Wrestlemania to challenge the Champion on the grandest stage of them all. This 29th Royal Rumble took place in San Antonio, Texas at the Alamodome and had over 50,000 people in attendance. Before the Rumble match itself, there were several championship matches with interesting outcomes, which should tell the tale of what’s to come at Wrestlemania 33 in April. WWE: Who Will Win the 2017 ‘Royal Rumble’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 20th, 2017

WWE-Royal-Rumble-2017-1-670x388

It’s the MOST wonderful time of the year! No, not the holidays! It’s time for the Royal Rumble, which takes place in January and paves the way for the main event at Wrestlemania every year. Well at least for the last 30 years it has. The Royal Rumble is a Pay-Per-View put on by WWE every year with the Royal Rumble match consisting of 30 superstars entering the ring every 90 seconds. The only way to be eliminated is if you’re thrown over the top rope and your feet land on the ground until one is left in the ring standing. That one winner goes on to the main event at Wrestlemania to challenge the Champion on the grandest stage of all.

gods-of-egypt-1

Firstly, this is my first real blog post; inspired by the fact that I finally got to view Gods of Egypt.  This was, like many Egyptian Mythology based movies were, a movie that I was looking forward to finally viewing.  I’m uncertain as to why I decided this was the topic I wanted to delve back into writing for, but here it is.  I feel two ways about it.  I’m going to express initially that I enjoyed it from an objective standpoint, it was fun and colorful and full of some interesting effect that got them right as often as they got them wrong… Giant Heads… #BobbleGods.  Now I’m going to express my displeasure, as anyone who has a passing interest in actual mythology realizes, it’s terrible.  The story is anyway, but the plotline is okay… and personally, I feel the message was all wrong about the afterworld.

Favorite WWE Matches of 2016!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 31st, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

screen-shot-2016-12-31-at-4-38-29-pm

Yes, there were a list of movies that tickled my fancy and made me laugh, cry, and be scared so badly that I had to sleep with the lights on. That list is HERE for your enjoyment. Moving on from that, if you have ever met me or have perused this site, you would know that I like a bit of the ole Pro-Wrestling just a smidgen. So it wouldn’t ben an end-of-year celebrations without trying to show you or convince you that Pro-Wrestling is the BEST thing in the universe. After all, ‘Wrestling is Everything is Everything’.

This is one of the most fun and highest forms of entertainment on the planet and a lot of the time when I’m at screenings, I wish I were watching some good ole fashioned wrestling matches. I don’t know why, but it must be in my blood. The below matches are for sure my favorite from the WWE company strictly. If I were to do an all encompassing pro-wrestling list, I would be writing this for the next two weeks and “ain’t nobody got time for that.” So I’ll leave the ‘Wrestle Circus‘, ‘VIP Wrestling‘, ‘NJPW‘, ‘ROH‘, ‘PWG‘, and ‘Evolve‘ for another post, although I think Jervis Cottonbelly and Joey Ryan (The King of Dong Style) deserve some recognition as perhaps some of the best talent in the wrestling business. Seriously, look them up.

Also, at the very bottom of this list, I will place a non-WWE match, which is one of the best matches I’ve ever seen in Pro-Wrestling, and it deserves it’s own place and category, because it’s that hardcore, fun, and insane. I highly suggest you give these matches that are listed below a real chance. You’ll see the storyline that is being told in the squared circle, the amount of high voltage entertainment and athleticism that goes on each and every night here. You will certainly enjoy it.

Film Review: ‘The Legend of Tarzan’!!

by Janet White on Jun 30th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Tarzan - Brothers

Every woman loves the strong and silent type, yes? Well, I say only for a while. Women are more than their looks and I’d say the same in regards to men. Both sides have bad apples, but on the whole, our actions and words are as integral to who we are as our appearance. Yet in The Legend of Tarzan’s portrayal of Tarzan, silence dominates and makes this King of Beasts a robot, not just mute, but cold and detached for the majority of the film. They should have subtitled the film, “A Man of Few Words”, because The Legend of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgård as Tarzan/Lord John Clayton was just that.

WWE Payback 2016: What to Expect!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 30th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

payback-2016-poster-2

It’s that time of year again for the PPV after Wrestlemania, which is known as Payback. Normally, this is a rather lackluster PPV when compared to the rest of the WWE events throughout the year, and this particular one seems no different, despite a couple of matches. I do expect some good moments, but I don’t expect a ton of titles to change hands here, if any really. Not only that, but we still have a ton of WWE Superstars out, including John Cena, Seth Rollins, Neville, and Randy Orton. You can add to that list Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, and Triple H not showing up, as well as The New Day not having a match either, however the latter will most likely do some promos. In other words, this just doesn’t seem like an exciting PPV at the moment. I hope I’m wrong. Maybe, just maybe Shinsuke Nakamura will show up and wrestle for two hours. Then again, maybe they’ll bring back ‘Firefly‘. Side note: why is Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt family on the poster for Payback, but they don’t have a match?

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

shane-jump

As I’m recovering from seven insane days of ‘Wrestlemania 32‘ in Dallas, TX., I’ve had time to reflect, contemplate, saturate, and regurgitate every I event I attended. I had my box of Booty O’s to make sure I wasn’t Booty thru the weekend, met some good people, watched some amazing matches, talked with some WWE Superstars, and lost my voice when Shane-O-Mac put his life on the line for the WWE Business. To quote a certain former WWE announcer, it was a slobberknocker of a week for sure that hit me in the solar plexus more times than I’d like to admit. WWE really did it up big this year for Wrestlemania 32. Not only did they put on several good shows, but they also broke records. There was over 101,000 people in attendance at AT&T Stadium for Wrestlemania 32, beating the previous record from Wrestlemania 3 by quite a bit. Not only that, ticket sales and merch sales were way up as well from previous years. It seems like WWE is growing exponentially with more and more fans tuning in every week. That’s a good thing. Instead of writing a recap of the entire weekend, I’ll give you some details of some of the cooler things I witnessed over the past week.

Podcast: WWE Roadblock 2016!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 11th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Screen Shot 2016-03-11 at 10.20.21 PM

Here’s a fun-as-hell and energetic discussion on the upcoming WWE event ‘Roadblock‘, which airs on the WWE Network on Saturday the 12th. This is basically bigger than a Monday Night RAW, but less than a PPV, but so far there are four matches scheduled. There is Triple H vs. Dean Ambrose for the Championship Title, Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt, The New Day vs. The League of Nations, and an NXT match with The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder)  vs. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady (with Carmella).

With Wrestlemania (which can be seen on the WWE Network) looming, the WWE Universe was faced with one of those moments. WWE: Why ‘Fastlane 2016’ Failed as a PPV!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 22nd, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Screen Shot 2016-02-22 at 9.50.15 AM

As a whole term paper you’d turn in to your professor as the final minute strikes down, this PPV called ‘Fastlane’ would have received a failing grade in big red ink. That’s not to say that there were some impressive moments. There were for sure some great spots by a few people, but as a whole, the PPV and booking seemed rushed, lazy, and incoherent on a major level. This is unfortunate, because this is the PPV that basically will determine what happens at Wrestlemania 32 – the biggest WWE event of the year. You can also add that this is the first time a Wrestlemania will be in Dallas to the biggest crowd the WWE has ever seen, with it topping more than 100,000 fans. After last night, ‘Fastlane‘ has done nothing to secure a hyped or fun Wrestlemania 32 for Dallas and the WWE Universe. In fact, I’d go as far to say that the Vince McMahon has lowered expectations by a considerable amount.

WWE: Possible Scenarios at the 2016 ‘Royal Rumble’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 24th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

maxresdefault

THE ROYAL RUMBLE ITSELF

One of the WWE’s most electrifying events is the ‘Royal Rumble’. Since the 1980s, WWE has been using the Royal Rumble match and PPV as the pre-cursor to Wrestlemania. In this match, anything is possible, as 30 wrestling superstars enter the ring in 90 second intervals. The only way to win the match is to throw the other 29 opponents over the top rope of the ring and be the last man standing. Over the years, there has been many surprises. Vintage wrestling superstars have entered the contest as well as underdogs. Sure, being the first entrant is the most difficult and being the 30th entrant is the easiest, as time is on your side, but that doesn’t stop you from winning usually.

Hey guys, Jana here,

WM31_03292015jg_1345

The WWE Hall of Fame is a hallowed and revered rite of passage for wrestling superstars that have paved the way for all those coming up in the ranks and is one of the highlights of WrestleMania Week. Each wrestler that has ever graced a WWE roster has hopes that they may, one day, be welcomed into the HOF. There are some superstars that have not enjoyed this tradition and a few that likely never will. When talking about those that never will, there are a few names that pop in your mind right away like Sting, Chyna and until last year, Randy Savage was on that list. If Savage can make it, maybe anything’s possible. I wouldn’t hold your breath on Chyna, as her post-WWE career includes the title “Porn Star”, and that isn’t exactly something the WWE wants to align itself with since they’ve strived to maintain a PG, family friendly atmosphere with their programming. But Sting? Looks like it’s his lucky year!

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

wwe-tlc

TLC. Tender, loving, Care. That’s not the case when we’re talking about WWE by any stretch of the means. TLC in the WWE universe means Tables, ladders, chairs, all of which are used to take down each other in the ring. Some of the most memorable matches in WWE history have been TLC matches with WWE superstars sacrificing life and limb, falling 50 feet in the air into the hard concrete or a folding table, only to be hit by a steel chair or a steel ladder. TLC matches basically mean that there are no rules. All is “legal”, even the kitchen sink, title belt, and even a trombone in some cases.

With Hell in a Cell just 24 hours in the past (which can be viewed on the WWE Network), WWE took over San Diego,CA with Monday Night Raw! The fall out of the previous evening had the WWE Universe a buzz with anticipation. Would we get an answer on why Bray Wyatt did what he did? How would the return of Alberto Del Rio effect the United States Title picture as the new champion? And most importantly, what is next for the Demon Slayer, Seth Rollins, now that he has once again, made good on his word and liberated the WWE of the power abusing Director of Operations? All the questions were answered and now we have a #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Did you miss Raw? Find out what happened now!

Mike, Here…

wwe-hell-in-a-cell-ppv-wallpaper

There is a dark cloud of reality hanging over this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell

It started moving in last month, when Sting faced Seth Rollins in the main event at Night of Champions.

The story was that the Vigilante Sting, WCW’s greatest icon and the last soldier of the Monday Night War, magically appeared to challenge Rollins for the WWE Championship. Admittedly, he had already magically appeared once only to lose to Triple H, so there was slightly less magic than advertised. but Sting seemed to be enjoying himself and Rollins sold the idea of Sting being threatening well enough to make their match-up compelling.

WWE: O’ What a Night of Champions 2015!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 20th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

185_NOC_09202015jg_0915-3399209481

Formally called Vengeance, ‘Night of Champions‘ quickly became a popular PPV in the WWE universe ever since it debuted back in 2001 where The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, and Chris ‘Y2J’ Jericho battled each other over the course of a few matches with Jericho winning in the end, becoming the first Undisputed champion. This year, Night Of Champions took place in Houston, Texas and had some spectacular moments. In fact, one of the matches had me yelling out praises throughout. We will get to that match in a minute. In other segments though, things fell a little short, mostly dealing with Sting, who definitely didn’t deserve to be in the main event with current champ Seth Rollins, and who didn’t deserve to have his image and likeness on all the promo art. Don’t get me wrong, I like Sting. He’s a damn fine wrestler. Or shall I say, he WAS a damn fine wrestler back long ago, but not so much anymore. There is far too much talent in the back locker room to give Sting a shot at the championship. First off, Sting doesn’t show up to almost anything, but a couple time a year, whereas everyone else are having matches day in and day out in the WWE. And it just doesn’t make sense to have a guy like Sting who is barely there, more than twice Seth Rollins’ age, and not involved in any long story line to make this match believable, let alone anyone thing for a second that Sting could win the WWE title belt. But first, let’s start at the beginning.

Ten Great Lesser-Known Films Starring Big Name Actors!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 7th, 2015

You might find yourself reading the following list, thinking “Hey! I’ve seen all these movies! How dare you claim them to be ‘lesser-known’!” My response to you, should you say such a thing, is “congratulations.” You see, just because you are a film nut like me, doesn’t mean that the rest of the populace is. The following is a list of ten good films with big-named actors that somehow slipped under the general radar. I’m not saying they are completely unknown, but based upon ticket sales, it certainly seems like they slipped the notice of the general public. These are all solid films that, should you enjoy these actors, you definitely want to check them out (the films, not the actors – although to each their own, I guess).

Last week, Triple H informed all that at RAW he would make an announcement that would shake the WWE to it’s core and set the controversy of the Royal Rumble straight. Angelic Heel Here…

Due to Snowmageddon, WWE had no choice but to cancel the RAW live event just 24 hours after one of the most controversial Royal Rumble pay per views in recent memory. Even though Hartford, CT would not be the scene of destruction it was meant to be, it was declared that the show must go on, and it did from the WWE Headquarters in Stamford, CT. The WWE Universe was addressed by the WWE Superstars that they were dying to hear from following the Royal Rumble event, and those who missed it, got treated to the Royal Rumble match itself (shown in its entirety) and the Triple Threat match for the World Heavy Weight Title (best match of the night.) Who had what to say and to whom? Let’s find out!

The night was filled with nail biting matches, heart stopping suspense, and an ending that had the Philly fans expressing themselves as only they can. Let’s begin the Road To Wrestlemania and try not to get thrown over the top rope as we look at the 2015 Royal Rumble!

One thing that you should know about me is that I love the Royal Rumble.
