Hey guys, Jana here,

I am a Leonardo DiCaprio fan. I’ve never hidden it, but I am. I wasn’t in love with him and his boyish good looks like other girls my age were, I recognized him from ‘Growing Pains‘, after all. He didn’t begin his career as absolutely gorgeous, that developed over time. I had to learn to love his work for what it was. Saying that, Leo’s been overlooked for that naked, golden, guy many times before he finally won his first Oscar at last night’s award show.

Film Review: ‘The Revenant’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 7th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

the-revenant-fn01

Could this finally be the year for Leonardo DiCaprio to take home that Oscar gold? It very well could be for his performance in ‘The Revenant‘. This is a movie that went through a few directors and actors before it landed on the ‘Birdman‘ director Alejandro G. Inarritu and Leo. At one point the studio wanted Park Chan-wook (‘Oldboy‘) to direct Samuel L. Jackson in the film, but that all fell through. Then the film went to John Hillcoat to direct Christian Bale in the film, before landing on Inarritu and DiCaprio.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

star_wars_as_rock_band_by_microkey-d4yehqv

We’re here with episode #61 of the Multi-Media Men and Women Podcast, where it was a small gathering. Only myself and Susan Kamyab from ThisChixFlix were at the mic, as we had a lovely discussion on the holiday movies. First though, Susan had never seen the original ‘Star Wars‘ movies until a couple of weeks ago, and we talk about her experience into that fantastic world. We also discuss watching ‘Hateful Eight‘, ‘Joy‘, ‘The Revenant‘, and how well ‘The Force Awakens‘ might do opening weekend.

Hey guys, Jana here,

the_revenant__2015__movie_poster_by_nabilstevieg-d8jq7yv

I’ve been waiting for this film to drop for quite some time, while it’s not ready to bow in theaters, we do have a teaser that makes me more than just a little excited for the final product. ‘The Revenant‘ is based on the novel of the same name by Michael Punke about the legendary and true events of Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio).

Leonardo DiCaprio Joins ‘The Revenant’!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 17th, 2014

Hello, Jana here,

First-Look-at-Leonardo-DiCaprio-in-Character-for-The-Wolf-of-Wall-Street

If there’s an actor that is fit for period pieces, it’s unarguably Leonardo DiCaprio. From ‘Titanic’ to ‘Gangs of New York’, ‘The Aviator’, ‘Django Unchained’, ‘The Great Gatsby’ and even ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ was about as 80’s of a movie as you can go. Now he’s signed onto star in ‘The Revenant’ written and directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (‘Babel’, ’21 Grams’), co-written by Mark L. Smith.

THE CALL OF THE WILD – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 21st, 2020

“Disney’s The Call of the Wild is a PG sanitized version of something better.”

The Call of the Wild should be a movie that we are talking about during awards season. The book is a classic and lends itself to some incredible action and powerful moments. With Harrison Ford anchoring the cast we should be talking about a PG-13 adaptation that is part The Revenant, part The Edge, a dash of Homeward Bound, and a touch of Dances with Wolves. I’m serious. The source material is there. That is why I am pretty disappointed to report that this is a PG sanitized version of The Call of the Wild that goes through the motions of any typical Disney movie featuring animals. There isn’t enough here to intrigue adults and there isn’t enough here to hold young children’s attention. What we are left with is a weird purgatory of a movie where no one can walk out entirely pleased.

‘Midsommar’ Blu-ray Announced!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 19th, 2019

One of the best films of the year is coming to Blu-ray in time for Halloween. ‘Midsommar‘, directed by Ari Aster (Hereditary) will be coming to Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy on October 8th from Lionsgate. It will be available digitally and On-Demand a bit before that on September 24th. Unfortunately, this is a bare-bones release without the talked about 3-hour director’s cut of the movie. I guess they’re milking it for a future all-out release.

Ethan Hawke has ’24 Hours To Live’ on Blu-ray!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 12th, 2018

Why did this movie not get a major theatrical release? I have no idea. This movie called ‘24 Hours To Live‘ stars Ethan Hawk and produced by the guys who helped make ‘John Wick‘. I mean, this has gold written all over it. Not sure what bonus features will be available, but there is none listed at the moment. Let’s hope that changes. You can currently see the film On Demand, but the Blu-ray will be available on February 6th.

Dan Moran’s Top 12 Movies of 2017 Plus Extras!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 4th, 2018

I saw 75 movies this year and I still have 3-4 left to finish up over the next few weeks. I haven’t seen The Post, Call Me By Your Name, or Phantom Thread yet. Phantom Thread is the only regret I have but it doesn’t come out until mid-January and I like to finish my list before first week of January ends. A few special awards before my top 12.

Film Review: ‘[Detroit]’!!

by Janet White on Jul 29th, 2017

Hello Everyone, Janet W.  here…

Fifty years ago (to the day I screened Detroit), atrocities occurred in Detroit, Michigan. July 25, 1967 has been a day of woe for generations past and will be for those to come. Effectively capturing the events of this time, Detroit offers a raw in-your-face journey into the debasement of human beings simply because of their color. Such actions led to outrage which brewed to boiling over due to criminal misconduct and murder performed by police officers escalated to several days of rioting and worse. Black people helping the crooked cops unlawfully abuse and imprison other black people. Read the rest of this entry »

[Captain Typho is trying to talk Padme out of leaving Coruscant without protection]
Captain Typho:
My Lady, let me come with you.
Padmé:
There is no danger. The fighting is over, and... this is personal.
[Typho bows]
Captain Typho:
As you wish, My Lady... but I strongly disagree.
Padmé:
I'll be all right, Captain. This is something I must do myself. Besides, Threepio will look after me.

Oh, dear.
