Film Review: ‘The Legend of Tarzan’!!

by Janet White on Jun 30th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Tarzan - Brothers

Every woman loves the strong and silent type, yes? Well, I say only for a while. Women are more than their looks and I’d say the same in regards to men. Both sides have bad apples, but on the whole, our actions and words are as integral to who we are as our appearance. Yet in The Legend of Tarzan’s portrayal of Tarzan, silence dominates and makes this King of Beasts a robot, not just mute, but cold and detached for the majority of the film. They should have subtitled the film, “A Man of Few Words”, because The Legend of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgård as Tarzan/Lord John Clayton was just that.

Hey guys, Jana here,

tarzan-header-1

I have been anticipating the retelling of the Tarzan story by Edgar Rice Burroughs since I discovered it was in the works from the Harry Potter alum, David Yates. I made a mental note to be sure to see the film when I learned Alexander Skarsgard was attached as the orphaned boy raised by gorillas. Now the trailer is here and I’m circling the date on my calendar, which is July 1 if you want to make a note yourself. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Enjoy The Trailer For ‘The Legend of Tarzan’!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 10th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

The_Legend_of_Tarzan_Official_Teaser_Trailer-660x330

So we all know the story of Tarzan. The great thing about this version is we’re not starting the story from birth, we catch up with the man, formerly known as Tarzan, years after he’s left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life in London as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke  (Alexander Skarsgard)with his beloved wife, Jane Porter (Margot Robbie) at his side in this David Yates (‘Harry Potter’ franchise)  feature.

Jana B. here,

Tarzan

If you’re like me, there is no story line too far fetched to keep me from gazing at the Nordic god-like appearance of Alexander Skarsgard. I’ve proven that by sitting through ‘Zoolander‘ one too many times and even the disaster of a film that was ‘Battleship‘. Now that I know there is a 3D live-action version of ‘Tarzan‘ going full speed ahead starring the Swedish bombshell, I’m more than a little excited about the idea of Skarsgard appearing on screen most of the time sporting only a loincloth. Thank you Warner Brothers! It comes our way in July 2016, in what will be a tent pole for the company’s summer movie season.

The Fast Saga Trailer Breakdown and Reaction!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 6th, 2020

The Fast & Furious movies, or as the studio now wants us to call it: The Fast Saga, has been a rocket ship to the moon of ridiculous for the past decade. Every sequel gets bigger and crazier. We’ve had skyscraper jumping, parachute cars, using a car as a murder weapon, pushing a torpedo on ice with your hand while fighting a submarine, the list goes on forever. Well, what a glorious day it was for me this weekend when a new almost four-minute trailer for the latest Fast Saga Film F9 made its way into these eyeballs. This trailer is more absurd, fun and insane than almost any of the other movies. This crew started stealing blu ray players from trucks and is now “Tarzan-Swinging” a car over a cliff… I can’t get enough of how wild this trailer is. So watch the trailer then check out my scientific breakdown with time stamps.

Interview with Casper Van Dien!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 13th, 2018

I had the distinct pleasure to talk with actor/filmmaker and known Starship Trooper Casper Van Dien about his new film ‘Showdown in Manila‘ amongst other things. We dive into working on the film, which was filmed on location in Manila and eating all the fun food. We also talk about his performances as Tarzan, Griffin Stone in Beverly Hills 90210, and his interest in music. Starship Troopers is also talked about of course. One of my favorite moments is when Casper discusses his deleted scenes in the film Rules of Attraction, where he played Patrick Bateman. Such a great story. Casper Van Dien is a badass. Check out ‘Showdown in Manila‘ if you can.

Samuel L. Jackson has a new project in mind, this one will not be set in the jungle like his ‘Legend of Tarzan‘ character, but it’s the superstars first foray into unscripted territory. Film Review: ‘Magic Mike XXL’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 1st, 2015

Sara O., Here…

Magic-Mike-XXL-Teaser-Trailer

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, Magic Mike swept summer box offices in 2012 and introduced audiences everywhere to the glory of well-oiled male strippers.  Now, first-time director Gregory Jacobs takes on the task of Magic Mike XXL, with Soderberg as cinematographer and film editor, and tries to surpass its $167 million-grossing predecessor.

Hey guys, Jana here,

margot-robbie-hairstyles-image

When I was told director David Ayer was going to bring one of my favorite comics, ‘Suicide Squad‘ to life, I got excited and happy that immediately turned into stomach churning nausea. Why would I have such an extreme reaction to this news? I mean, comic books have been inspiration and fodder for dozens of high dollar productions, why would this be different? I’ll tell you what bothers me about it, the casting for the villains needs to be impeccable.

Jana B. here,

The Brink

HBO, in a quick move, has given a series order to ‘The Brink‘. The comedy stars Jack Black (‘Tropic Thunder‘, ‘School of Rock‘) and Tim Robbins (‘The Shawshank Redemption‘ and ‘Mystic River‘), directed by Jay Roach (‘Meet The Parents‘, ‘Austin Powers‘) and executive produced by Jerry Weintraub (‘The Karate Kid’ franchise, ‘Oceans Eleven’ and the newly announced ‘Tarzan’). Now that we have the proven star power behind this project, we need talented writers to bring it to fruition. Roberto Benabib and his brother Kim Benabib are penning the script. Roberto Benabib has shown a master handle on writing a dark comedy with his successful stint at writing for the show ‘Weeds‘ and ‘Ally McBeal‘.

Suzanne Reviews ‘Magic Mike’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 28th, 2012

Woozie Here…

Are there naked slabs of man? Why yes, yes there are. But this is not all that Magic Mike has to offer. I have to admit, I dismissed this movie when I first saw the previews. I like looking at men – especially this cast of men – but filling two hours of film with this is likely to get old real fast. When I realized Steven Soderbergh was at the helm, I gave it a chance, and I’m glad I did. Magic Mike delivers on all the raunchiness hoped for out of a movie about male strippers, but there is more to it than Channing Tatum’s bare, rhythmic body.

Movie Quotes

Bethany:
Jesus didn't have any brothers or sisters. Mary was a virgin.
Rufus:
Mary gave birth to CHRIST without having known a man's touch, that's true. But she did have a husband. And do you really think he'd have stayed married to her all those years if he wasn't getting laid? The nature of God and the Virgin Mary, those are leaps of faith. But to believe a married couple never got down? Well, that's just plain gullibility.
