Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Cruel-Intentions_612x380_0

Cruel Intentions‘ was a popular movie back in 1999. It starred a young Sarah Michelle Gellar, a young Ryan Phillippe, and a young Reese Witherspoon. Not to mention a dozen other “before they were famous” stars now. It was so popular back then, that it spawned a sequel or two. Now, NBC is doing a tv series, which is I guess a sequel of sorts. And Sarah Michelle Gellar has just signed on to reprise her role from the original 1999 film.

Released in between the two live action Hellboy films, these two animated movies called Sword of Storms and Blood & Iron are two separate feature length animated movies involving the characters we’ve grown to love. Guillermo Del Toro was not involved, but the creator Mike Mignola was instrumental in these two animated films that brought back the original cast from the live-action movies to voice their respective roles. In Sword of Storms, Hellboy and Co. dive into ancient Japanese culture to stop two demonic brothers and a sea dragon from destroying people with storms. With Blood & Iron, Hellboy and his friends battle with an evil vampire and witch, while putting ghosts are peace inside a haunted mansion. Both films now come with a new 4K UHD transfer and Dolby Vision along with a Dolby Atmos audio mix that sound good. There are also several great bonus features with each film, including commentaries and behind the scenes featurettes. Recommended!

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

In the game of chess, there are rules. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, the brainchild of Stieg Larsson, has wowed and shocked audiences since 2009 when the novel and the Swedish version of the film of the same name were released. The heroine of these provocative tales, Lisbeth Salander, is a genius level conqueror/hacker with who fights injustice. In The Girl in the Spider’s Web, Salander (now portrayed by Claire Foy of the Netflix hit, The Crown, a huge mistake in my opinion) has taken vigilantism to a new level. Do not mess with this chick. Back in 2013, horror master Stephen King released the novel ‘Doctor Sleep‘, which was his sequel to ‘The Shining‘. It was only a matter of time before we got a movie adaptation of it. So here we are in 2018 and it looks like Warner Bros. is developing the project at full steam ahead. Mike Flanagan has been set to write and direct the film. Flanagan is a horror filmmaker himself, where he got his start with the films ‘Oculus‘ and ‘Hush‘.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Can one possibly get enough ‘John Wick‘? The answer to that question is “Hell No!!!” Well Starz and Lionsgate TV have joined forces to bring us ‘The Continental‘, an serial adaptation of the films inspired by the film and occasionally featuring the Baba Yaga himself, Keanu Reeves. It will be set in the universe created for 2014’s juggernaut ‘John Wick‘ and the 2017 sequel ‘John Wick: Chapter 2‘. These films established a dynamic world and more than got the ball rolling to make audiences demand more. There is a tertiary film in the series standing in pre-production now, eyeing a 2019 release date.

If you’re like me, then you have grown to love filmmaker Christopher Nolan over the years. Come December 19th, most of his films will be released on 4K UHD for the first time ever. The films include the ‘Dark Knight Trilogy‘, ‘Inception‘, ‘The Prestige‘, ‘Interstellar‘, and the recent ‘Dunkirk‘. Each film will come with HDR as well, meaning a richer and deeper looking image for each movie. Each film will feature extras, the standard Blu-ray Disc, and Digital Copies of each movie. The whole collection will retail at about $150 with the ‘Dark Knight Trilogy‘ retailing at around $70. Of course with the holidays coming up, expect big discounts everywhere for these.

Scooby Doo and Batman are coming to Blu-ray Together!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 7th, 2017

I’m gonna go ahead and say it. There won’t be a better film than this all year. On January 9th, 2018, Warner Bros. is releasing ‘Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold‘ on Digital Streaming. How can Warner Bros. team up this duo? Well, the villains of the Batman universe have partnered up with the villains of the Scooby Doo universe to terrorize the city. Batman then decides to join the other detective agency of Mystery Inc with Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma to fight crime. There are so many scenarios I want to see played out here. I want to see Batman slap Fred. I want to see Velma and Daphne fight over Batman. I want to see Shaggy try to unmask Batman. I want to see Scooby wear a Bat-Dog costume. I want the Joker and Ghost Clown to torture civilians. I don’t think this is asking for too much.

Hunter S. Thompson TV Series is Coming to Bat Country!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 23rd, 2017

The only way this show will work is if a network like HBO, Starz, Showtime, or Netflix are behind it.  Hunter S. Thompson deserves the best, and those networks are the best to produce a TV show of that caliber. MGM TV and Davey Holmes have come together to make ‘Fear and Loathing‘, which will follow the drug-fueled journalistic adventures of Hunter S. Thompson.

Film Review: ‘Cult of Chucky’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 28th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

One of the things I look forward to in life are more Chucky movies. I don’t know why, but that seems to have been the case since Chucky terrorized all of us back in 1988 with ‘Child’s Play‘. There’s just something fun and horrifying about the universe of Chucky that always had me clamoring for more films. ‘Child’s Play 2‘ and ‘Child’s Play 3‘ furthered the story along while playing to the same silly-horror tropes of each previous film. Still, they were fun and entertaining.

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 28th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Has it been more than 16 years since we saw our favorite Highway Troopers save the day in Super Troopers? I feel old. Old as balls. Luckily for us, we now have the first red band hilarious trailer for Super Troopers 2, which is set to come out next year on 4.20.18. That’s not a coincidence. The sequel is directed by Jay Chandrasekhar again, who will also reprise his iconic character Thorny Ramathorn, along with Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske.

The Karate Kid will Sweep the Leg one last time!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 4th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Finally. Somebody’s doing it right. No shitty remakes, revamps, or reboots. Just a straight sequel that seems full of heart with the original cast. I like this. The Karate Kid will have a sequel called Cobra Kai, which will be a 10-episode half hour series that will air on YouTube Red next year. Not only that, the show will have Ralph Macchio and William Zabka coming back to reprise their roles as Daniel and Johnny respectively.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Blumhouse and Todd McFarlane have announced today at San Diego Comic-Con that the creator/artist of the Spawn comic books will step into the director’s chair and make a Spawn movie. It’s not exactly news that there was going to be another Spawn film, but now we know the great production company Blumhouse (The Conjuring) is behind it with McFarlane himself stepping up to direct, which fairly rare.
