Hey guys, Jana here,

Progress on ‘Aquaman‘ is swimming along prepping for a fall of 2018 release, and with that progress, there is some casting news to let you in on. We know that Jason Momoa will, ummm, scale up? to become the King of Atlantis, and Amber Heard will take on the mantle of Mera, the object of Aquaman’s desires and that Willem Dafoe will transform into Nuidis Vulko, the scientist that plays a very important role in many of the Aquaman story-lines. We can now add to this list, Patrick Wilson who will take on the character Orm (Ocean Master), Aquaman’s half-brother and he’s not such a nice guy, using any means within his reach to try and take over the throne of Atlantis and has been causing problems since 1966.

Season 2 of ‘Fargo‘ is gearing up to start filming soon for FX, and rest assured, I can’t wait. The first season, which was based on The Coen Bros. Oscar winning film in the 90s was excellent. The first season starred Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thorton, Colin Hanks, and Allison Tolman.

Hi kids, Jana here,

  Bibb County GA SHBP

If you’ve read much of what I’ve written before, I’ve led the band railing against movie remakes. Yeah, that’s me in the front with the baton and the megaphone. However, there are some films that it’s ok to remake. Doesn’t make it right, but it’s not one I’ll lose sleep over. The remake of ‘Point Break‘, ‘Roadhouse‘, ‘Ghost‘ and ‘Dirty Dancing‘ are all examples of films that do not need touched by anyone other than slight re-touching to make the colors more compatible with HD televisions. Basically anything Patrick Swayze was ever in should be kept sacred. I use ‘Swayze’ as a verb after all. No one ever gets their ass kicked, anymore – They get full on Swayzed. In short, don’t mess with the man’s films!!

In the Tall Grass – Film Review! (Fantastic Fest)

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 24th, 2019

Stephen King has a penchant for terrifying us with the most innocent things. Whether it be a cornfield, a family dog, a classic red car, or even a fancy hotel at a ski-resort – King delivers the scares more than most. The same can be said for his short novella he co-wrote with his son Joe Hill called ‘In the Tall Grass‘, which takes place in a beautiful and lush field of tall green blades of grass. Director Vincenzo Natali (‘Cube‘, ‘Splice‘) adapts this horrific story for the big screen as he clutches to the overall maniacal themes of this bloody novella, but never takes it to a peak level of savagery as the written words do. In fact, it’s best you separate the source material from the adapatation so you can enjoy each piece of material individually along with their great unique qualities.

Annabelle Comes Home – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 27th, 2019

Set in the horrifying Conjuring universe where paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren travel around the world and investigate strange phenomenons, perform exorcisms, and help families out with evil spirits, have both seen some truly terrifying things. The catch is that it’s all real or at least based on real-life events. With all of these horror movies that started with The Conjuring, there have been a few spinoff movies. The most popular of them is the frightening possessed doll named Annabelle, which is now on its third movie titled Annabelle Comes Home. Directed by Gary Dauberman, who has been the lead writer on the past Annabelle films, this sequel is his first foray into the director’s chair with original filmmaker James Wan producing. The result is too much of a slow pace for its own good, in addition to taking itself too seriously in an already flooded cheap scare and tiresome plot that we have seen two dozen times before.

Holiday Movie Round-Up 2018!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 27th, 2018

Holmes & Watson

First movie I have walked out of by choice in years. What a steaming pile of crap. I knew it was bad going in, considering they didn’t even try to promote it in any way, shape, or form. There was only one trailer I’m aware of and the same TV spot played occasionally during sporting events. When a studio has a comedy they believe will be successful coming out on Christmas they promote the hell out of it. I wish they buried this one even deeper than they did. I didn’t walk out to make some high brow “cool guy” statement.

Film Review: ‘Insidious: The Last Key’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 4th, 2018

If there’s anything that can be said about the Insidious franchise, it’s that they found a working formula and boy did they decide to stick with it.  This is the fourth installment of the film series and…well…it’s remarkably like the previous installments.  This is not necessarily a bad thing. If it ain’t broke, why fix it, right?  Still, I got much more déjà vu instead of déjà-new© out of this movie. With all that being said, it’s still a damn good sequel.

Blu-ray Review: ‘The Conjuring 2’

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 12th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

THE FILM

It seems like a ton of horror movies come out every year, and most times, they don’t live up to their potential. There are a handful of horror movies over the last decade that really satisfy us horror fans. Films like ‘The Babadook‘, ‘It Follows‘, and ‘The Conjuring‘ will still be talked about for years to come. One name in the horror genre, or at least in recent years is James Wan. This man burst onto the scene with ‘Saw‘, which was basically genre changing and spawned a ton of sequels. Wan also made a few other horror films, all testing the bounds and pushing us into a new horror direction, while still respecting his influences.
