Film Review: ‘Lights Out’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 21st, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

lights-out-1200x630-c

So far there have been several good horror movies for the year 2016. Next up on the list is ‘Lights Out‘ from first time feature film director David F. Sandberg. This is one of those movies that was actually a short film that was then made into a feature film, which is always fun to see the differences. ‘Lights Out‘ conjures up some decent scares and even made me sleep with the light on.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Lights-Out-2016

Documentary and short segment pro David F. Sandberg has adapted his 2013 short film ‘Lights Out‘, which ran for two minutes, as a feature and we’ve got the first trailer for it. The short gained viral status the year it debuted so a longer version of the concept was a natural next step.

Hi Bryan Here…

I am completely psyched about his movie.  Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, and was that Robert De Niro?   Why Yes.  Yes it was.  Also I caught Elizabeth Olsen in the trailer.  This looks amazing.   Sigourney back in Horror is always a plus. “A psychological thriller which explores the human brain’s perception mechanisms and the diffuse frontiers between belief and science, RED LIGHTS starts out from the experiences of two rationalist scientists who dissect phenomena from the metapsychic world, and the clash of forces with a world famous psychic they bring about. The past and the present of each the protagonists contain still unrevealed shadows, setting in train a dark story of growing tension, full of unexpected twists and turns.”  Rodrigo Cortes will be directing the film.  He made that amaizng Ryan Reynolds film, ‘Buried’ which took place completely all inside a coffin.  Enjoy the trailer.

Blu-ray Review: GET OUT!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 25th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

THE FILM

When you say the name Jordan Peele, you would most likely think of the brilliant comedic stylings of Key and Peele or Peele’s time on MadTV. You might even crack a big smile, thinking of Peele’s recent film Keanu. But I’m willing to bet you wouldn’t think of the words “horror maestro” when you see Jordan Peele’s name come across the screen. And that’s exactly what Peele can add to his resume résumé with his new movie Get Out, which he wrote and directed for the genre mogul Blumhouse.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Daredevil

In the category of most anticipated TV returns, we can count the second season of Netflix’sDaredevil‘ among that list. The story of Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen who moonlights as a vigilante has been an intriguing series that I’ve not been able to get enough of. I’m more excited for season 2. Not only because it’s a gripping storyline, but because of the inclusion of a new character this season.

Film Review: ‘5 Flights Up’!

by Jewish Joy on Apr 12th, 2015

Hi guys, Beka P., Here…

b5200c6107fc3d41d19a2b66835c3974_567x210

5 Flights Up hits and misses, and yet in the end, still manages to leave you somewhat satisfied. It’s the story of an aging couple, struggling to make their home for the last forty years grow with them as they deal with the issues age brings. Their Brooklyn apartment is, as you may have guessed, 5 flights up, which poses a problem for both their aging bodies, and, their dog, Dorothy, who is having problems walking. And so, the film takes us on a whirlwind journey of to sell or not to sell, to give in to the changes taking place outside their door, or settle in and be comfortable with what they love: each other.
