If there’s one thing I love more than a noir-crime film, it’s a realistic military pic. Tell me the film is about a legendary sniper from the US and I’m intrigued. I hear the name Chris Kyle – you have my full attention. I love America and I love our military. They do things that I wouldn’t want to do and make choices I could never make to keep our citizens safe. Damn right they have my full support.

A friend is there through thick and thin. Right there, to draw a penis on your face while you are fast asleep. That is the opening scene of the hilarious adventures of Angela (Maia Mitchell) and Jessie (Camila Morrone) two young waitresses trying to make a way. Never Goin’ Back is based on the true story of its creator and director, Augustine Frizzell. I had the privilege of interviewing Frizzell (more on that awesome experience later), but first here are some reasons to watch this arduous girl power film. Angela and Jessie are high school dropouts that share a house with Jessie’s special in the head brother, Dustin (Joel Allen). On the eve of Jessie’s 17^th birthday, Angela comes up with the perfect gift for her dearest friend. The gift sets into motion a trail of calamitous events, drugs, innuendos, and literally a holy crap moment.

The 15th Annual Tallgrass Film Festival is set to run from October 18 – 22 in Wichita, KS. The weekend boasts the inaugural presentation of the L.M. “Kit” Carson Storyteller Award to Larry Gross (‘48 Hours‘), and Ad Astra Award presentation to Rose McGowan (‘Charmed‘). Among the throng of films (182!!!) the fest has to offer, there are gala events, after-parties, and enough events to keep anyone, from the most green of festival-goers to the most seasoned pros that binge-watch for a living, entertained, interested, and hell, even relaxed. One of the ticket packages includes a massage.

The festival has given us a complete lineup of films for their 2017 event and since I’m such a nice person it’s my job, I’m giving it to you.

Minions have existed since the first amoebas dawned the depths of the ocean.  The film opens under an endless sea of evolution.  From single cell organisms to complex beings, the minions and their cute little eye(s) moved through time serving big bosses from T-Rex to the worst historical monsters.  As loyal of servants as they can be, the minions are the worst bad guy sidekicks, EVER; poor, poor T-Rex never saw it coming.  No wonder why they know and speak in so many languages.  I know I heard Spanish, French, and, of course, gibberish.

In the world of film, there are specific genres that stand out for me and one of those is war movies. I love different titles for a variety of reasons, the story, or even an actor, in this category there is one primary theme that ties each film together – heroes. Their outstanding courage is what gives us that lump in our throats and a swell of patriotic pride that causes us to lift these characters, real or imagined, to elevated heights. It takes a special kind of person to be a hero, I know I couldn’t do it, but I am eternally grateful for the men and women that take up that mantle and defend the lives and freedoms I hold so dearly.

It’s been a big year for the entertainment world. Netflix’s initial push to bring movie-theater worthy films straight to streaming customers and bypassing the big screen altogether set off a chain of deals that will take those fresh releases and push them directly into homes allowing us to bypass a $15.00 soda, but denying us the $20.00 popcorn you can only get at the theater.Then came the deluge of series and movies being made for exclusive run with everyone from Netflix, Amazon to Crackle and everything in between. Top that off with the huge breach of privacy Sony experienced. New releases were flooded onto P2P sharing sites and private emails from the film company’s big wigs that show us how the infrastructure of Sony really works, not to mention what those involved really think of some of their superstars.

It looks like Warner Bros. is banking pretty heavily on Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ release, with a so-so reception of last year’s ‘Man of Steel‘, they gave him a sequel. Not only is he doing a sequel, he cast Ben Affleck as Batman which has drawn cheers and jeers, mostly jeers, from the public since then. So it seems a little ridiculous to me that Warner Bros. has already announced a ‘Justice League‘ movie helmed by Snyder. I’m not saying a ‘Justice League‘ film isn’t a good idea, I just don’t think building the DC Universe off of the ‘Man of Steel‘ platform is the way to do it.

Official Press Release: The Dallas International Film Festival presented by AutoNation Volkswagen Dealers announced today its full list of features and shorts that will be screened through the Festival’s 11-day run (April 4 – 14, 2013). For the 2013 Festival, more than 160 features, documentaries, shorts and student films representing 28 countries make DIFF truly an international Festival. Of the feature films at the Festival, 11 will see their world premieres and two are North American premieres—all represent some of the best in the art of filmmaking. These films were selected from more than 1,300 submissions from around the world.

The 2013 Sundance Film Festival is in full preparation mode as it will start January 17-27 and will showcase 113 featur length films, which 98 of them are premieres from over 32 countries.  Here is the full list of films that will be shown in all competitions as well as the non competition films.  Hopefully it won’t be too terribly cold in Utah this year.  Some of these films look AMAZING!

(August 19, 2011-New York, NY) Red Stylo Media is announcing the release of its newest title, The Poe Twisted Anthology, a collection of original comic stories and art inspired by the writings by Edgar Allan Poe.  The collection includes work from thirteen writers and artists collaborating on seven short graphic stories and eight vignettes. This anthology will be released both digitally and in print. Each of the individual stories is available for download at RedStylo.com, Drive Thru Comics.com and will also be available on Graphic.ly.
