May/2019

Filmmaker Kevin Smith defined a cinematic generation back in 1994 with his iconic motion picture ‘CLERKS‘, which he financed himself on a dozen or so credit cards. Smith enlisted the help of his friends to perform and make the movie itself on a low budget about a couple of people who work at a low-end convenient store and video rental place. It was a philosophical and hilarious look at the lives of everyday people and what goes through their mind. Some 25 years later, ‘CLERKS‘ is still as relevant and important as it was in the early 90s.

Since 1994, Smith has made a ton of movies in a variety of different genres, along with some A-List actors. The dialogue he writes is so realistic, quirky, and downright hilarious yet sentimental that you can’t help but fall in love with all most every character he comes up with. Let’s backtrack three years ago where Smith filmed a TV pilot called ‘HOLLYWEED‘ that stars himself and actor/comedian Donnell Rawlings (Chappelle Show/HBO’s The Wire), where the two work at a cannabis dispensary, talking about their issues with society and going on weird adventures – much like Dante and Randal did back in 1994 at the Quick Stop.

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

jayandsilentbobstrikeback-113582

Kevin Smith is everywhere these days. He’s making movies with food that wants to kill you, podcasting in multiple cities, selling his comic books at his retail stores, and even conducting interviews for IMDB at film festivals. “The guy is like MacGyver. No, motherfucker’s better than MacGyver.” Since his last film ‘Yoga Hosers‘, Smith has been making some DC television series on top of teasing us with stories of a ‘Clerks III‘ film and a ‘Mallrats‘ sequel series, both of which I would have sold my Michael Jackson statue to see.

Hey guys, Jana here,

American_Psycho_Musical

Ever hear of two things that shouldn’t go together but end up working? A bit of chocolate in your homemade chili, Kevin Youkilis  as a Yankee, Catherine ZetaJones and Michael Douglas? OK, well maybe not them so much, anymore, but you get my point. ‘American Psycho‘ – the book by Bret Easton Ellis that made a 2000 movie with Christian Bale, evolved into a musical? Yup, you read that one right. Off-Broadway theater company, Second Stage is going to present the U.S. premiere. This has been discussed and debated, but ultimately it’s happened and coming to America next!

Kevin Smith Will Make ‘Tusk’ Before ‘Clerks III’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 25th, 2013

Jana B., Here….

kevin_smith_spoilers_large

Kevin Smith. I don’t hide my unabashed love for him and lust for Silent Bob’s counterpart, Jay, or has we know him, Jason Mewes. Felt like I was just living out the fantasy in ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back‘ when he first saw Justice. OK, back to the reason I’m writing this. There is news on the ‘Clerks III‘ front! I seriously did a fist pump like I was channeling my inner Judd Nelson when I learned this. You know how Kevin Smith tells us that we’re going to have a new Clerks movie, but he has to do this one project first? This is one of those projects. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the next film he’s going to make is titled ‘Tusk‘. Smith says it will be an “Ivory bridge” to ‘Clerks III’. If that’s not some Oscar Wilde like word play, I don’t know what is. Yeah, gratuitous insertion of ‘Clerks II‘ reference. Smith says it will make financing the sequel easier and also to work out some of the cobwebs from not having directed a film since 2011’s ‘Red State‘. We can all agree we want Smith at the top of his game for what will probably be the final Clerks installment.

Hi Bryan Here….

Kevin Costner has just joined Quentin Tarantino’s Spaghetti Western ‘Django Unchained’.  He is set to play a character named Ace Woody.  “He’s the sadistic trainer of the male fighting slaves who entertain the white patrons of Candyland as well as the female slaves who are forced to be prostitutes.”  This is a different role for Costner as he will be more of the villain than the good guy.  Plus, I think this will re-vitalize Costner’s career in a good way.  I already can’t wait to see this film.

Jana’s Best of 2017!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 1st, 2018

Hey guys, Jana here,

I know these “Best of 2017” lists should technically be published in 2017, but why would I start 2018 any differently than I lived the majority of my adult life: Procrastinating and underachieving. What can I say? That’s my wheelhouse.

For a year that put a spotlight on some of the shittiest behavior by some of the Hollywood elite, it was actually a good year for TV and movies. I didn’t limit myself in number because as I moved on with the brackets, I felt like I was making ‘Sophie’s Choice‘ on some of these, so they’re all getting in! I’m feeling my inner-Oprah here, You’ve made the list! You made the list! EVERYBODY made the list!! In order to spare myself any arguments, I’m stating up front that my picks for the “Best of 2017” are not edited in regards to scandal or hideous human behavior.
