Hi everyone, Bryan here

MGM is wanting to make yet another sequel to the ‘Shanghai’ film series that successfully starred Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson. This time, MGM has secured Jared Hess to direct. Remember Jared Hess? He was the guy who directed ‘Napoleon Dynamite‘, ‘Nacho Libre‘, and the upcoming ‘Masterminds‘.

jackie-chan-ca12

Jackie Chan is going to receive a golden statue at an Oscars gala in November for lifetime achievement according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Chan has been in the movies since 1962, for 2016-2017 alone he’s got at least 10 different projects in different levels of completion. Even at 62, Chan’s still a dynamo. He’s known for such Hollywood hits as ‘Kung Fu Panda‘, the ‘Rush Hour‘ series and ‘The Karate Kid‘.

Sam Raimi and Jackie Chan Team Up To Form a Film Studio!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 18th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

342307

Interestingly enough, the guy who brought us ‘The Evil Dead‘ and the guy who played ‘The Drunken Master‘ (Sam Raimi and Jackie Chan respectively), have teamed up to create a joint venture film company in China called Allegory Films. There’s a third amigo here too by the name of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, which is the director of ‘The Tourist’. The company is slated to make at least two films a year with Jackie Chan holding a 60% stake in the studio and the other 40% going to von Donnersmarck and Raimi.

Rebecca S., Here…

The Covenant

Renny Harlin is set to direct ‘Skiptrace‘, an action adventure movie starring Jackie Chan and Seann William Scott and being made by China’s Talent International Film Co. and Dasym Entertainment. Harlin, who has been directing all of your favorite USA Network shows lately, is best known for his work on Die Hard 2, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and Cliffhanger. But perhaps his BEST movie is ‘The Adventures of Ford Fairlane‘, starring the one and only Andrew Dice Clay.

Hello, Jana here,

Karate_kid_ver2

If you’re the star of a movie that makes $343,000,000 worldwide with a budget of only $40,000,000, you would be safe in betting there is a sequel in your future. If you’re Jaden Smith and you’re one half of the doomed project ‘After Earth‘ and a studio is still willing to bank heavily on you, you thank your lucky stars and say “yes”.  If you can get millions of people to look past the fact that the film is called ‘The Karate Kid‘ and features NO Karate, only Kung-Fu, then audiences deserve way less credit than I give them.  Of course I’m talking about the box office hit and re-make, ‘The Karate Kid‘. The director, Harald Zwart, will not be responsible for this venture as it appears he is going to be tied up with another sequel, ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes‘. Instead, Breck Eisner is taking the reigns. Eisner most recently directed ‘The Crazies‘ that starred Timothy Olyphant and Joe Anderson.

Jackie Chan’s Next Film Will Be ‘Skiptrace’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 6th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

rush1

This sounds a little bit too familiar. Jackie Chan is set to star with Fan Bingbing in ‘Skiptrace‘, which will be directed by Sam Fell. Chan has been out of the comedy/action spotlight for a little while now and some might welcome his return into the genre. This project is based off an idea of Chan, which is funny, because it sounds exactly like three of his previous films.

Hi Bryan Here….

At the beginning of the 20th century, China is in a state of crisis. The country is split into warring factions, the citizens are starving, and recent political reforms have made matters worse, not better. The ruling Qing Dynasty, led by a seven-year-old emperor, and his ruthless mother, Empress Dowager Longyu (Joan Chen) is completely out of touch after 250 years of unquestioned power. Huang Xing (Jackie Chan) has recently returned from Japan, where he has studied the art of modern warfare. When he finds his country falling apart, he feels he has no choice but to pick up the sword, leading an increasingly desperate series of violent rebellions against the powerful Qing Dynasty and the New Army- several with tragic consequences.   Jackie Chan’s 100th film.  This looks amazing.  Glad his 100th film wasn’t ‘Rush Hour’ 4.  Enjoy the Trailer.

Hi Bryan Here…

Let me first stand up and applaud Jackie Chan.  100 films.  That is a big feat.  Jackie has entertained me and all of us for many years.  In his prime he was the Drunken Master and Supercop and who could forget the Rush Hour films, the comedy and action he brought to that franchise was amazing.  I have loved being entertained by Jackie Chan for years and years now and am super excited to see his 100th film.

Bryan Reviews ‘Nurse Jackie’ Season 3 Bluray!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 28th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

The 3rd season of Showtime’s ‘Nurse Jackie’ is here.  And starting in April, the 4th season will start.  I can’t believe it’s been 3-4 years that this show has been on.  Kudos to ‘Nurse Jackie’.  This bluray is top notch.  Showtime really struck gold with Edie Falco as Jackie. She is tremendous in this role.  Even better than her Sopranos role.  This disc has some good extras, and a really fantastic audio/video presentation.  If you are a fan of the show, you know you are already picking this up.

Film Review: ‘The Lego Ninjago Movie’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 20th, 2017

Hello all, Rebecca here with my take on the newest installment from the Lego film franchise.

The Lego Ninjago Movie reminds me a lot of a tossed salad you would buy at the grocery store, meaning lots of classic flavors that you already love, but always having that one inclusion that tastes funny (I’m looking at you radicchio). Ninjago has the same beautiful CGI/stop motion look from Animal Logic that The Lego Movie and the Lego Batman Movie have, and the same quirkiness, but it lacks the heart of its predecessors.

Well Go USA Cuts the Cable Cord for Fans!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 22nd, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

game_of_death_1600

Good news, everyone. The BEST studio that brings you marital arts and Asian action cinema (Well Go USA) has just joined the cable cutting revolution and is getting its own subscription channel, similar to HBOGO and the WWE Network. Their channel will be called “Hi-YAH!“, as in the thing that the usual fun martial artists yell out when the swing chop, stab, swing chop someone on film and will debut on Playstation VUE on January 26th. Wait, that’s like next week (AWESOME). Don’t fret though, ‘Hi-YAH!‘ will be available on additional platforms later on in the year and will feature films from Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen, and Jackie Chan. Hopefully, as time goes on, there will be original content as well. For you Asian-action fans, this is HUGE news and a great addition to subscription based services. I already have a list of movies I want to see on the channel.
