The Last Black Man in San Francisco – Film Review!

by Janet White on Jun 13th, 2019

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

“The Last Black Man in San Francisco is not perfect in its execution, but the story is moving despite its disjointed structure and flow.”

An interesting story comes out the U.S. capitol of “in your face.” In The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Joe Talbot, the director, teams up with Jimmie Fails (Jimmie Fails) for a second time to bring you seemingly Fails’s own story of the journey of living with loss. Orphaned from a drug addict mother and deceased father, Jimmie has lived with a friend, Montgomery Allen (Jonathan Majors) for some unrevealed amount of time. Each day, Jimmie and Mont take the bus to his childhood home. Much to the chagrin of the current owners, Jimmie touches up his ancestral homestead. When ownership of the property suddenly is in flux, Jimmie seizes the moment. What followed enlightened Jimmie’s world and hopefully the viewers in the audience. Read the rest of this entry »

The Dead Don’t Die – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 12th, 2019

“The Dead Don’t Die is my favorite zombie film of the year.”

Just when you thought the zombie genre was indeed dead, Jim Jarmusch (Dead Man, Only Lovers Left Alive, Coffee and Cigarettes), re-ignites the stale genre with The Dead Don’t Die, including an A-list cast, extreme dry wit, and a ton of fun. This short, but sweet movie feels familiar with its usual genre tropes, but at the same time, its wholly original and burns down the fourth wall so much that it would have Deadpool himself blush. Jarmusch basically got most of his favorite actor friends from his previous films and said, “Hey, let’s make a zombie movie where anything goes.” The result with this cast of deadpanned characters are flawless as they weave through a zombie outbreak in their small, podunk town to the tune of Sturgill Simpson’s song The Dead Don’t Die.

Hey Riggs! ‘Lethal Weapon 5’ Might Happen!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 27th, 2017

You’re never too old for this shit as Warner Bros. is talking with everyone about a new ‘Lethal Weapon‘ film that brings back the original cast. According to some sources, director Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon, Superman, The Goonies) would return in the director’s chair with Channing Gibson writing the screenplay. That name isn’t a typo either. Channing Gibson wrote ‘Lethal Weapon 4‘ and ‘Walking Tall‘ with The Rock. This would also bring back Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in their respective and iconic roles.

Just What is ‘Extortion’?

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 13th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Screen Shot 2017-02-13 at 5.55.30 PM

How much would you pay someone that has kidnapped your family and threatening to kill them if you don’t pay them millions of dollars? If money wasn’t in the cars, what would you do in that particular situation? That’s the question that is asked in a new film called ‘Extortion’, which stars Danny Glover, Eion Bailey (Once Upon a Time), and Oscar nominated actor Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips). If I was in this situation, I feel I would have two options. One, cut my losses and start over with beautiful wife (or wives) with big breasts with all the cocaine and Dr. Pepper we can handle, OR I would hire John Wick to take care of things. Since the latter option is movie magic, I’m going with option one. It’s what God would have wanted anyway.

Film Review: ‘Monster Trucks’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 11th, 2017

Joel H., here…

monster-trucks-movie-cgi-creature

Remember what it was like to dream? I’m not referring to our current dreams of better jobs, or more money, or a new car, but dreaming without restriction? As a kid, I dreamed several times of experiencing that bicycle flight in front of the moon with E.T. at the helm. I dreamed of discovering pirate gold and sneaking a kiss from my older brother’s girl like Mikey. I sat in spaceships and fighter jets made of cardboard boxes. I gave life and personality to a slew of GI Joe’s, even little green army men with no functional limbs. I dreamed. There was no lack of depth to those dreams. No impending Trump administration. No knowledge that the guns used for pretend are replicates of actual war machines taking lives every single day. My simple imagination was rampant without knowing otherwise, but I grew up.

Hey guys, Jana here,

lw.0.0

I was a natural skeptic when I learned that my favorite movie series of all time, ‘Lethal Weapon‘, was being made into a TV series. I cussed, threw a fit and out and out pouted for a little bit. I’m not proud of these actions, but I didn’t want to see my beloved movies torn apart for a series that would probably be less than great. Then I saw the trailer.

Interview with Diego Luna on ‘Mr. Pig’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 18th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…..

diego-luna

I had the distinct pleasure to talk with the writer/director/actor that is known as Diego Luna about his new film ‘Mr. Pig‘. Who is Diego Luna, you ask? He was in ‘Y Tu Mamá También‘, ‘Elysium‘, ‘Open Range‘, The Terminal‘, and ‘Milk‘ to name only a few films. Oh yeah, he’s also starring in the upcoming ‘Star Wars: Rogue One‘ film, coming out later this year.

lethal_weapon_3

Well this is finally happening after a few years of trying to get off the ground. There has been a lot of talk for a few years now on doing another ‘Lethal Weapon‘ movie or a television show. It looks like Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are indeed too old for this shit.

New ‘Lethal Weapon’ Sequel With New Stars!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 1st, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

M~ p26eb04_lethal/26p/b&w

This top story excited me like no other today as I’m a huge fan of both Mel Gibson AND the ‘Lethal Weapon‘ franchise. In 1998 director Richard Donner brought us the fourth sequel in the popular buddy-cop series starring Mel Gibson as Martin Riggs, the powder keg with a short fuse and deadly sharp-shooting skill and Danny Glover as Roger Murtaugh, the all-around family man that continually counts down the days to his retirement and worries about going off-book as a cop until shit gets serious then he gladly joins Riggs in tearing apart whatever ass-hat is at the center of the problem.

Hi, Bryan Here….

melgibson-getthegringo-gunpoint-tsr

Nothing is confirmed at this moment and is merely a rumor we are hearing around right now, but it looks like Mel Gibson might be joining Stallone in ‘The Expendables 3‘. At one point, Stallone wanted Gibson to direct the third adventure, but Gibson declined. However, that wouldn’t necessarily stop him from acting in the piece. and Gibson needs all the work he can get right now as a lot of people in Hollywood do not want to work with him, due to his crazy antics.

Hi, Bryan Here….

“I’m too old for this shit.” The GEEK DEAL OF THE DAY or shall I say the week is the blu-ray collection of all four ‘Lethal Weapon‘ films. This impressive set comes with all four films and a 5th bonus disc, packed with tons of extras. Currently, the price-tag is $79.98 on this set, but for this week only, you can snatch it up for a cheap $36.99 or less. The audio and video presentations on this collection is very good, plus you know you want to hear Danny Glover yell “Heeeyyy Rigggsss”, several hundred times.
