Hi everyone, Bryan here…

THE FILM

Back in 1988, an excellent creative team consisting of director Tom Holland, writer Don Mancini, producer David Kirschner, and visual effects wizard Kevin Yagher got together and made ‘Child’s Play‘ and psychological thriller turned horror film about a serial killer’s soul that is transferred into a kid’s toy doll and wreaks havoc on this family in Chicago. Nobody knew at the time, but this small little film would be an instant cult classic with rave reviews from audiences and critics alike for years to come. Not only that, but this film hatched numerous sequels and created one of the most famous horror icons in pop culture – Chucky.

Hey guys, Jana here,

product_images_modal_ChildsPlay.Cover.72dpi__7B5f9a8745-5033-4e75-89fc-c2b48fbe4f0f_7D

If you were one of the millions of kids in the 80’s that never looked at our dolls the same way again after ‘Child’s Play‘ hit the big screens in 1988, Scream Factory has got an awesome collector’s edition of the flick to bring back those fond, or not-so-fond, memories. If you’re a millennial kid, or later, this is a pre-requisite in understanding what was so wonderful about 80’s horror movies.

Hi, Bryan Here….

We have been hearing for a while about a new installment of ‘Child’s Play’ along with a complete reboot of the franchise.  We even wrote a little bit about this ‘Curse of Chucky’ film a few weeks ago, which you can read HERE.  It looks like it will be direct-to-dvd, which is unfortunate, but any new Chucky is good, right?  I’ve been a huge fan of the ‘Child’s Play’ series since the first one came out in the 80’s, and even though the films have gotten much sillier, I still enjoy them.  And I’m so happy that Brad Dourif is once again returning to voice the killer doll.  Press release below.

Hi, Bryan Here….

For so long now, we have been hearing about a new ‘Child’s Play’ film.  You know the films with the killer doll named Chucky?  Well, over the past couple of years, we have heard there will be a sequel as well as a reboot to the franchise.  We also heard that the reboot was going to return to the darker side of things rather than it be more of a slapstick type comedy as the previous two Chuky films have been.  Well, this Chuck film will be a sequel to the already five films of the franchise.

Film Review: ‘The Road Movie’ (2018)!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 16th, 2018

Big budget action blockbusters don’t have shit on this documentary, simply titled ‘The Road Movie‘. Russian filmmaker Dmitirii Kalashnikov has expertly edited a treasure trove of what acts as the ‘Best Of” YouTube videos of Russian dashboard vehicle cameras that showcase the crazy, sick, and depraved of the Russian highways and city streets. We’ve all seen a few short 10-second clips of a car crash or some crazy Russian guy getting out of his car with a weapon over small traffic dispute.

Film Review: ‘Cult of Chucky’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 28th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

One of the things I look forward to in life are more Chucky movies. I don’t know why, but that seems to have been the case since Chucky terrorized all of us back in 1988 with ‘Child’s Play‘. There’s just something fun and horrifying about the universe of Chucky that always had me clamoring for more films. ‘Child’s Play 2‘ and ‘Child’s Play 3‘ furthered the story along while playing to the same silly-horror tropes of each previous film. Still, they were fun and entertaining.

Favorite Movie Scene of the Day #12!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 13th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

This scene still scares me. While the whole movie itself is kind of silly in moments, this particular scene still makes the hairs on my neck stand up straight. The first Child’s Play movie was actually quite serious, but the many sequels that followed went into over-the-top silly territory, which is fine, but that original 1988 movie still haunts me. I remember seeing Child’s Play on VHS right when it came out and having nightmare that this possessed doll named Chucky would come and get me. I’d be lying if I didn’t think the same thing from time to time even to this day.

Blu-ray Review: ‘The Gate’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 21st, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Screen Shot 2017-02-21 at 2.17.28 PM

THE FILM

The 1980s were very good to us horror buffs in the form of films. We were introduced to Freddy Krueger, Pinhead, Re-Animator, John Carpenter’sThe Thing‘, ‘The Shining‘, ‘Child’s Play‘, ‘The Lost Boys‘ and the wonderful world of ‘Evil Dead‘ to name just a few. I guess you could say that the 80’s gave us some of the very BEST horror films ever made. One of the 80’s horror films that is just as good and as fun as the above mentioned movies, but rarely gets a mention is the 1986 film ‘The Gate‘, directed by Tibor Takacs.

‘Cult of Chucky’ Is Almost Here!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 5th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

childs-play-featured

I can’t tell you how excited I am for this. I am a HUGE fan of all of the ‘Child’s Play‘ films that centers around a murderous Good Guy doll named Chucky. The first film came out in 1988 and I remember seeing it on VHS at home and just fell in love with everything about it. The following six sequels all get a bit sillier to straight up whacky, that is until 2013 came around, and we got ‘Curse of Chucky‘. It’s been known that a new ‘Child’s Play‘ film has been gestating for a while now, but we have learned through EW, that filming will now begin on the 7th sequel titled ‘Cult of Chucky‘, and will begin filming in Canada on Jan. 9.

Radcliffe and Caplan Cast In ‘Now You See Me 2’!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Nov 4th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

now-you-see-me-gallery1

Now You See Me‘ was was a 2013 film that featured four magicians answering a mysterious summons that sets the stage for their later roles as The Four Horsemen who manage to pull off a real-time robbery during a stage act. This leads to an investigation by FBI and Interpol agents. I was impressed with the movie, it was a new story with a twist, very original.

Hi, Bryan Here….

images

Chucky is back in a big way. The next installment of the ‘Child’s Play‘ franchise titled ‘Curse of Chucky‘ made its North American debut a few days ago to a sold out theater. The location was at The Fantasia Film Festival and it won the Audience Award for Best International Feature today. How cool is that? We’ve written about ‘Curse of Chucky‘ a few times before, which you can see HERE.

Check These New Images Out From ‘Curse of Chucky’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 28th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

cutie_chucky_by_sonicshadowlover13-d5l85cc

We’ve reported before that there are currently two new ‘Child’s Play‘ movies in the works.  One is a complete reboot of the franchise, and the other is a sequel to the previous five . This looks like the sequel that will go straight to DVD and Blu-Ray, which is a shame, because there is definitely a market for more Chucky movies. I cannot wait to see these two films, and I’m happy to see Brad Dourif is still doing the voices. Here are the first images from the film. I can’t wait for the trailer.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Okay, let me get this straight.  A 90’s horror film called ‘Leprechaun’ starring Warwick Davis and a young Jennifer Aniston is getting remade by the WWE?  WWE meaning World Wrestling Entertainment?  The same place that gave us Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock?  From way out of left field, this is absolutely correct.  So, yes, this is happening.  Let’s not forget we have several ‘Leprechaun’ films already in the library including: ‘Leprechaun in the Hood’ and ‘Leprechaun: Innnnn Spaaaaaace’!!! I can’t make this stuff up.  And just in time for St. Paddy’s Day.

4K UHD Review: ‘Wonder’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 8th, 2018

THE FILM

Back in 2012, author R.J. Palacio released her novel ‘Wonder‘, which caught on worldwide quickly and became one of the most heartfelt and dare I say it “wonderful” stories of recent memory. It was only a matter of time before it was optioned into a movie. Luckily Lionsgate picked it up where author/director Stephen Chbosky (Perks of Being a Wallflower) signed on to take on the task in adapting this fantastic story for the big screen. ‘Wonder‘ follows a young boy named Auggie (Jacob Tremblay) who was born with Treacher Collins syndrome, which is a genetic disorder that causes facial disfiguration at birth, which can cause problems with hearing, eyesight, and breathing.

Scream Factory is releasing ‘#Horror‘ to home DVD in conjunction with IFC Midnight on April 5. The film shows, in chilling detail, the terror that cyberbullying can truly create. Starring Chloë Sevigny (‘American Horror Story‘), Timothy Hutton (‘American Crime‘), Natasha Lyonne and Taryn Manning (both from ‘Orange Is The New Black‘) and comes from writer/director Tara Subkoff (‘The Cell‘).

Hey guys, Jana here,

Trollsheader

DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox have released a peek at their new feature, ‘Trolls‘. The film takes it’s name from the hideous Troll dolls that marched through every child’s life and are either hidden in the darkest corners of a toy box, or they’re given a spot of honor on your desk at work, you know who you are.

Hey guys, Jana here,

ROOM_Poster

Emma Donoghue wrote what has become a sensational multi-award winner in ‘ROOM‘, then she wrote a screenplay and worked with director Lenny Abrahamson to bring the final product to the big screen. ‘ROOM‘ is incredibly moving, emotional in ways I didn’t really anticipate with an edge-of-your-seat thriller sensation as well.

Bryan’s Best and Worst of 2014 List!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 22nd, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Wright_39_s_Top_10_Films_of_2014

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. 2014 was an interesting year to say the least, most of which was great. Movie-wise, I think 2014 had some excellent films filling its theaters, but of course it had some real stinkers too. Below is my list of the Best and Worst films of 2014 with some added categories down at the bottom. I believe this year I watched over 145 new films, theatrically speaking and it was very difficult to narrow them down from 25. After some chocolate snacks covered in marshmallow cream, I finally had a TOP 10. But when you talk about the Best movies, you have to mention the worst too. My list tends to be a tad bit different from others, but hey, I’m twisted. I highly encourage you to seek out these movies – good or bad and enjoy the rest of your year.
