Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Last year, the guys at Broken Lizard successfully funded their sequel ‘Super Troopers 2‘, which raised more than $4.5 million for the film. Their goal was at $2 million. Fox Searchlight is releasing the film with Broken Lizard members Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. This past week, the guys started filming in Boston and have brought aboard actor Rob Lowe to star alongside them.

Lowe is playing Guy Le Franc, who is a former hockey player and the current mayor of a Quebec Canadian border town. This is just fantastic news, a s Rob Lowe has had a string of very successful projects from ‘Parks and Rec‘, ‘Code Black‘, and ‘The Grinder‘ (even though that was canceled). Jay Chandrasekhar is back in the director’s chair, according to Deadline, with him and the rest of the crew pitching in for writing the screenplay, but I imagine there will be quite a few ad-libs throughout.

It’s been fifteen years since the first ‘Super Troopers‘ film and the cult phenomenon that was created out of the first film has had fans clamoring for a sequel. It will finally happen and I’m sure all these guys will turn in a fantastic film. I’m sure we will hear of other cameos, but Rob Lowe is one of the stars here. More updates to come soon.
