Hey guys, Jana here,

Sony’s sequel to 1995’s ‘Jumanji‘ just cast the clutch character, Martha, with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ and ‘Doctor Who‘ alum Karen Gillan. Director Jake Kasdan (‘Bad Teacher‘) went through an extensive search that included many A-list names before deciding on Gillan.

The sequel stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Nick Jonas and the project will finally get underway next month in Honolulu, just in time to make the July 28 release date. After meeting a lot of criticism when the project was announced, it’s been clarified this film will will be a continuation of the 1995 endeavor that starred Robin Williams and not a reboot.

Matt Tolmach and William Teitler are producing with Ted Field, Mike Weber, Kasdan, David Householter, Van Allsburg, Johnson and Dany Garcia are all executive producing.
