Hello, Jana here,

I was one of the fans that was super excited about the live-action ‘Jem and the Holograms‘ movie in the works. I loved Jem, I knew if I got up and ready for school early enough, I would be done and could watch all but the last 3 minutes of an episode before I had to leave for school. I was in the fifth grade, I think and swore I was going to be like Jem when I grew up. I did the whole singing with a hairbrush into a mirror bit. I danced like crazy and just knew somewhere, someone would realize the genius and promise I had.

Time goes by and you grow up. I still have a soft spot for Jem, but after seeing who has been cast, I’m realizing this is not something that I need to see without my kids. In fact, I probably won’t see it with my kids.

Anywho, here’s the lineup so far. Aubrey Peeples is a face we might remember from ‘Sharknado‘ or TV’s ‘Nashville‘. I suppose if Jem and the crew are attacked by flying sharks, she’s all set, right? Jumping into the roles of the Holograms are Stefanie Scott from TV’s ‘A.N.T. Farm‘, Aurora Perrineau was in a single episode of ‘Pretty Little Liars‘ and Hayley Kiyoko from ‘The Fosters‘. So, I suppose the good news is that kids are going to recognize the actors and be the ones to enjoy this show. As for me and my kids, we’re sticking to the cheesy animated shows I grew up on this one.
