After starring in Slumdog Millionaire, Anil Kapoor probably would never have had to work again. However, his love for American television has spurred him to keep going.

Kapoor will be producing and starring in an Indian adaptation of Fox’s hit show 24. After appearing in the final season as a Middle Eastern leader on a peacekeeping mission, Kapoor has fallen in love with the idea of 24 and will be recreating Jack Bauer for Indian television.

“It will be a great honor for me to play Jack Bauer,” Kapoor said. “Kiefer has created an iconic character which has inspired me to bring the franchise to India. This will be my first foray to Indian television and I look forward to duplicating the standard of excellence Fox has so successfully created.”

Kapoor has officially acquired the rights to 24 and Jack Bauer from Fox and will produce via his own production company, Anil Kapoor Films Company. One of India’s most famous actors, Kapoor will next be seen here in the upcoming Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. More as this develops.
