HBO is reuniting with Tom Hanks (producer, Big Love) and David Goetzman (same) to bring us a sports comedy called Players. The story will follow the lives of college athletes.

Hanks and Goetzman have been go-to guys for HBO for a long time, as evidenced by their long-standing roles as executive producers on the critically acclaimed drama Big Love as well as The Pacific. They will also work together on American Gods, which I am plugging in here because I am ridiculously psyched about it.

Moving on. James Evans and Darryl Scott will serve as producers, with Hanks and Goetzman executive producing. HBO hasn’t released casting or plot details at the moment, but we will keep you posted.
