Hi Bryan Here…

Director Marcus Nispel (Remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th and the up and coming Conan The Barbarian film) has signed on to direct yet another horror film, but this time an original horror film.  The film in question will be called “Blackmask” and sounds like sort of a nod to a couple of 80’s horror films.

The film will be given a $10 million dollar budget and Steve Schneider will produce who was one of the minds behind Paranormal Activity.  Bloody Disgusting says this about the synopsis:  “During a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vintage record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it’s revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message….and that the real source of horror isn’t particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.”

Two films come to mind when I read that.  One being the 80’s film “The Gate” with a young Brad Dourff and “Evil Dead” mixed with “Night of the Demons”.  It think this could be a very fun film if done right and it would be very badass if it was in that 80’s time period rather than present day.
