Bryan’s Review of ‘The Pact’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 23rd, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Nicholas McCarthy’s ‘The Pact’ delivers scares and creeps that will linger with you through the next several days.  There are enough scenes to make you jump out of your seat to last two movies.  ‘The Pact’ was originally an eleven minute short film that showed at Sundance last year.  Fast forward a year, and the short was made into a feature length film by the same name.  While the creep and scare factor might keep you on the edge of your seat, the film’s pacing and character development lack the push to make this a great horror film.

Hi, Bryan Here…

Way out of left field, but David Gordon Green will direct the remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 Horror opus ‘Suspiria’.  Green directed ‘Pineapple Express’, ‘The Sitter’, ‘Your Highness’, and several episodes of ‘Eastbound and Down’ for Showtime.  Casting is underway as they are looking for their Suzie,  the young protagonist who travels to Europe to attend a world renowned school. After a series of brutal murders, the young American student learns that the academy is a front for something way more sinister than education. The original had a surreal, psychedelic tone that involved the supernatural, witches and a whole lotta blood.

Ti West On Board with New Horror Film ‘Bedbugs’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 10th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Ben H. Winters’ horror novel ‘Bedbugs’ has been picked up by new production company Tango Pictures.  Tango will release the film with Ti West writing the screenplay.  I also hope they ask Ti to direct as well, since I’m a big fan of his.  Ti wrote and directed ‘The House of the Devil’ and the upcoming ‘V/H/S’ movie.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Okay, let me get this straight.  A 90′s horror film called ‘Leprechaun’ starring Warwick Davis and a young Jennifer Aniston is getting remade by the WWE?  WWE meaning World Wrestling Entertainment?  The same place that gave us Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock?  From way out of left field, this is absolutely correct.  So, yes, this is happening.  Let’s not forget we have several ‘Leprechaun’ films already in the library including: ‘Leprechaun in the Hood’ and ‘Leprechaun: Innnnn Spaaaaaace’!!! I can’t make this stuff up.  And just in time for St. Paddy’s Day.

Check Out the Creepy Trailer for ’7500′!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 21st, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

So here is a trailer for ’7500′ which is a horror film which should have been called ‘Snakes on a Pla….’ –  wait wait wait, I mean ‘Ghosts on a Plane’.  And it still should have starred Samuel L. Jackson.  But sadly it does not.  Instead it stars Amy Smart, Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Jerry Ferrara (Entourage), and Leslie Bibb.  The trailer doesn’t show any of the ghosts, which is a good thing.  The trailer has its moments of creepiness though.  Hope this one is fun.

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 2nd, 2012

Hi Bryan Here….

The horror film ‘Insidious’ has been given the go ahead to get a sequel under way.  Leigh Whannell and James Wan (the writer and director of the first ‘Insidious’ and the first ‘Saw’ film) are coming back.  Well at least Whannell has signed on to write and Wan is currently in negotiations to direct again.  Only a matter of time.  Oren Peli (director of Paranormal Activity) will executive produce.

Hi Bryan Here…

I am completely psyched about his movie.  Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver, and was that Robert De Niro?   Why Yes.  Yes it was.  Also I caught Elizabeth Olsen in the trailer.  This looks amazing.   Sigourney back in Horror is always a plus. “A psychological thriller which explores the human brain’s perception mechanisms and the diffuse frontiers between belief and science, RED LIGHTS starts out from the experiences of two rationalist scientists who dissect phenomena from the metapsychic world, and the clash of forces with a world famous psychic they bring about. The past and the present of each the protagonists contain still unrevealed shadows, setting in train a dark story of growing tension, full of unexpected twists and turns.”  Rodrigo Cortes will be directing the film.  He made that amaizng Ryan Reynolds film, ‘Buried’ which took place completely all inside a coffin.  Enjoy the trailer.
